Unblinking, emotionless vertical pupils scanned the intruders, as if it had been waiting for them to arrive.

In the ruins before it lay a human skeleton that had been gnawed almost completely clean. A few strands of dark red muscle still clung faintly to the stark white bones. Scattered haphazardly next to the skeleton were three other mangled corpses, their limbs twisted and faces unrecognizable.

From the shadows of the surrounding buildings... came the dense, rustling sounds of crawling. Layers of slimy serpentine bodies churned the water, echoing with sickening HISSES that turned the narrow waterway into a massive snake nest. They didn’t pounce immediately. Instead, they moved slowly, trying to encircle Han Ning and his group.

The Water Arrows violently slammed into the swarm of snakes. A robust Black Snake that tried to leap into the air and bite was blasted squarely in the head by a Water Arrow. Its skull shattered like a fragile eggshell. A mixture of red, white, and black—along with charred bone fragments and mangled flesh—splattered backward in a radial pattern. With just one volley! The densest part of the encircling snake swarm was wiped out as if erased by a rubber eraser, leaving behind a bloody, vacant zone.

Witnessing its subordinate snake swarm being reaped in droves, the Elite Black Snake Monster let out another deafening screech.
