The Apocalypse Strikes, I Became a Druid
Chapter 122 Crazy Growth
Chapter 122: Chapter 121: Crazy Growth
Seeing that the Crazy Growth skill had been unlocked, Han Ning’s face lit up with joy. He immediately grabbed a few spinach seeds to begin his experiment.
"Crazy Growth!"
A dense Spiritual Power, burning like flames, suddenly ignited in his palm. The spinach seeds were enveloped by this Spiritual Power, looking as if they had been instantly set ablaze.
RUSTLE RUSTLE RUSTLE!
The seed husks trembled in the light. Tender shoots crazily broke through the seed coats at a visible rate. Slender roots grew out, and the tender leaves expanded wildly in the air. In just a few breaths, several mature, vibrant green spinach plants with thick, plump leaves dropped out of thin air onto the floor in front of Han Ning, exuding intense vitality.
However, this thriving scene was merely short-lived. Once the azure light released by Han Ning faded, the spinach plants on the floor trembled, and their vibrant green leaves lost their luster in the blink of an eye. They became dull, curled, and yellowed as their stems lost all moisture. These spinach plants, which had just been full of life, completely withered. Even the seeds inside were completely shriveled and pulverized, falling away with a PITTER-PATTER and leaving no trace of vitality behind.
"It truly is Crazy Growth—trading one’s life for a brief moment of glory," Han Ning murmured. Comparing the result with the description of [Crazy Growth] on his interface, he understood completely.
The essence of this skill was to forcibly squeeze a plant’s Life Origin. Ordinary crops simply couldn’t withstand such violent stimulation; it was clearly more suited for Extraordinary Crops. Only mutated crop seeds with profound foundations and inherent Extraordinary Power could endure this Energy. Unlike ordinary crops, the seeds of Extraordinary Crops wouldn’t wither and die; even after overdrawing their Life Force, they could still be used a second time.
Furthermore, with Crazy Growth unlocked, this method of Energy application could also be applied to Rapid Growth to help crops grow within a certain radius. Previously, Rapid Growth could only affect a few plants in a small area, but now it had become a large-scale area-of-effect ability.
"Professor Ye, could you please fetch a few Red Mist Tomato and Jade Potato seeds each? I want to try again," Han Ning said, turning his head to Professor Ye, who was watching from the sidelines.
Watching Han Ning’s methods—which resembled those of legendary Immortals—Professor Ye had been too shocked to speak for a long time. Having mastery over the flourishing and withering of plants... If this were the ancient era before their transmigration, wouldn’t he be considered a true Immortal?
"Oh, okay," Professor Ye finally reacted and hurried to prepare them.
Soon, he returned holding two transparent plastic bags filled with Extraordinary Crop seeds.
"Thank you."
Han Ning took out a few Red Mist Tomato and Jade Potato seeds each and placed them in his palm. He activated [Crazy Growth] with full force once again. This time, his entire right arm blazed with a more condensed azure flame than before. A rich Life Energy rippled outward.
"Go!" Han Ning shouted in a low voice, opening his palm and sweeping it forward.
Enveloped in the azure flame, the few Extraordinary seeds transformed into miniature meteors trailing long cyan tails. SWISH SWISH SWISH! They flew out and accurately struck the tiled floor ahead.
Without needing any soil, roots grew out from the seeds, and stems rose from the ground at an unbelievable speed, crazily sprouting branches and leaves. On the left, bizarre tomato plants rapidly took shape. Their main trunks were thick and gnarled, and their leaves were a thick, dark green with a familiar red tinge faintly appearing on the edges. At the very top, green fruits the size of pigeon eggs swiftly condensed. On the right, several clusters of Jade Potato plants were also wildly stretching. Their emerald leaves unfurled, and their tubers expanded at a staggering rate.
In the blink of an eye, several Red Mist Tomato and Jade Potato plants, reaching nearly a meter high, appeared before the two men, their roots gripping the smooth tiled floor. They bathed in the azure flame, their branches and leaves unfurling in a Vitality Burst.
Han Ning cut off the Energy supply from Crazy Growth and continued to observe.
Losing the continuous infusion of Life Energy, the state of these Extraordinary Crops—which had been conjured out of thin air—immediately shifted. The emerald luster of their branches and leaves dimmed slightly, and their growing momentum came to a complete halt. However, they didn’t immediately wither and die like the ordinary spinach from earlier. Instead, they appeared extremely ravenous. Their roots trembled slightly and constantly crawled about their surroundings, clearly searching for nutrient-rich soil.
But where would they find nutrient-rich soil on a tiled floor? They could only remain awkwardly stuck in place.
Han Ning observed them for a full five minutes. The leaves of the Red Mist Tomato plants began to curl and yellow, while the Jade Potato plants also looked listless. He brought over two flowerpots mixed with High-Energy Soil and planted one Red Mist Tomato and one Jade Potato into each respectively.
With the nourishment of the soil, the two crops stopped withering and regained a bit of vitality. However, looking at them as a whole, they weren’t as vibrant as naturally grown plants; rather, they looked like patients suffering from premature aging.
The other plants lacking soil gradually began to wither. From under the dried-up vines of the Red Mist Tomatoes rolled out a few shriveled tomato seeds that were a size smaller than before, much duller in color, and covered in wrinkles. At the root of the Jade Potatoes, a few similarly shrunken and shriveled potato tubers were left behind, looking malnourished. They had lost their plump luster and appeared wrinkled, but they still contained a faint trace of Life Force. They would require a long period of rest and renewed Energy nourishment to restore their vitality before they could be used again.
Seeing this, Han Ning figured he had grasped the preliminary usage of the Crazy Growth skill.
Later that evening.
After Han Ning and Professor Ye finished compiling some notes on the usage of the Crazy Growth skill, they prepared to go eat dinner. Suddenly, faint noises echoed from downstairs. He walked to the window and looked down.
The beams of several flashlights swayed in the curtain of rain. Vice President Zhao, Old Xie, and the others had returned, carrying several blood-soaked young men on their backs. These young men had torn clothes, and their exposed skin was covered in hideous wounds. It was obvious they had just experienced a brutal, bloody battle.
"What happened?" Chairman Wu’s concerned voice rang out from downstairs.
Vice President Zhao explained, "They were surrounded by a large swarm of Black Snake Monsters in the ruins of a seafood market about three kilometers west of the resort.
"There were a lot of monsters. By the time we arrived, they were barely holding on."
Old Xie frowned. "Fortunately, there were no casualties, but the density of the Black Snake Swarm is noticeably higher than it was a few days ago.
"They might have noticed that the number of snakes over here was decreasing rapidly and became alert."
"Mm. Let’s temporarily bandage their wounds first, then isolate them from the others and observe them for a period of time," Chairman Wu said with a nod.
Having experienced the previous incident in the Fog Area, Chairman Wu had learned from his past mistakes and was being extra cautious. If they ran into another situation like Old Wang’s, wouldn’t they be caught completely off guard? Therefore, any rescued teammates had to be isolated and observed first.
Han Ning’s gaze fell on the injured men who had been rescued. Deep within his pupils, a ring of Molten Gold light lit up. Everything was normal; there were no signs of being parasitized by an Alien Spiritual Power. Only after confirming there were no anomalies did he turn and leave.
