The Apocalypse Strikes, I Became a Druid
Chapter 113 Plant Spirit Selection
Chapter 113: Chapter 112: Plant Spirit Selection
Condensing the Seed of Life was fundamentally similar to fusing with a Beast Spirit. It required finding an Extraordinary Plant that matched his Earth Druid traits and integrating its Plant Spirit into his body.
The difference was that the Seed of Life was not a form of shape-shifting like the Transformation Technique. It was more like nurturing something from scratch. Once successfully condensed, this seed would connect to his Life Origin, becoming a part of his body as if he had gained an extra organ.
By nourishing it daily with Life Power, the Seed of Life would gradually grow into its complete form. For example, if he chose a tree-type plant, he would have to use his Life Power to cultivate it from the seed stage. He would nurture it to sprout, gradually helping it grow into a towering tree.
It was worth noting that the Extraordinary Crops sprouted from the Seed of Life had no physical bodies; they were composed entirely of Energy. Its final form could be seen as a Druid’s "Heaven and Earth." It could be released at any time, whether he was in human form or transformed. The Seed of Life would grant him the ability to manipulate the corresponding plant’s traits, becoming the core of all his Plant Element Skills.
Of course, the Seed of Life wasn’t limited to just one; he could choose multiple seeds with various attributes. However, at the current Basic Level, he could only select one plant.
"Just like communicating with a Beast Spirit, I must first connect with the Earth..."
Han Ning stepped outside the office building into the pouring rain. He slowly reached out with both hands, palms facing down, and pressed them into the slippery mud.
HUM.
An emerald-green light illuminated his palms and seeped into the ground. As his Mental Power spread and Natural Energy flowed in, Han Ning’s perception was infinitely elevated and extended.
The world before his eyes plunged into chaotic darkness. Within this darkness, dots of light—some bright, some soft, and all varying in color—lit up one after another like stars in the night sky. Unlike Beast Spirits, they did not have their corresponding Levels marked by a status panel. These specks of light had no Levels. Instead, they radiated pure, boundless Life Force and Energy Fluctuations of different attributes.
The Fire, Water, and Earth Attributes were the most abundant. They came in various shapes, appearing as miniature plant silhouettes silently suspended in the darkness. Han Ning’s Spirit swept past these Plant Spirits, which had responded to the will of nature and revealed their existence to him.
One was a silhouette as blazing as molten rock, shaped like a burning Coral. It was entirely crimson with twisted branches, and golden magma patterns flowed across its surface. The aura it emitted was scorching and volatile, carrying a fiery intensity. It was perhaps some bizarre plant capable of surviving in magma or high-temperature zones.
Another silhouette had silvery-white arcs of electricity dancing across its surface. It resembled a giant piece of kelp with long, narrow leaves and serrated edges. Its entire body flickered with unstable silvery-white lightning, and violent Thunderbolt Power circulated across its surface with a sharp CRACKLE.
In the space further away, a silhouette shrouded in a dark green poisonous mist floated, looking like a thick, fleshy mushroom. Viscous dark green liquid continuously dripped from under its cap, making it look incredibly eerie. It gave off a sinister and macabre feeling.
Diagonally behind the mushroom, a small sapling shimmering with a warm, earthy-yellow halo emerged. Its branches and leaves were sparse, but the twigs looked exceptionally resilient, and its knotted roots plunged deep into the darkness. Its vitality was heavy and enduring, carrying the encompassing nature of the Earth.
Deep in the aquatic space directly ahead, the silhouette of a swaying, translucent white seaweed floated. Its leaves were long and slender like ribbons, entirely crystal clear, and surrounded by a soft, milky-white halo. Its vitality was pure and gentle, echoing with the nourishment of water currents and Purification Power.
Close to the waters beneath his feet, a cluster of bramble silhouettes gleamed with a faint, cold blue light. Sharp ice spikes covered every branch, and its leaves were like shattered Ice Crystals. At its center condensed a deep blue, multifaceted frost core. Chilling air overflowed from it, carrying a will that seemed capable of freezing all things.
Han Ning immediately noticed these plants with exceptionally rich vitality. They could clearly be categorized into attributes like Fire, Poison—or was it Dark?—Earth, Water, Ice, and so on.
...
More and more dots of light appeared, displaying a myriad of brilliant colors and diverse attributes. They exhibited traits that were either violent, gentle, heavy, or swift. Each represented a unique evolutionary direction for a plant and a vastly different Power of Nature.
Han Ning’s mind quickly swept through these silhouettes as he fell into deep thought. What he needed most urgently right now was an ability that could adapt to this boundless expanse of water, or even utilize the aquatic environment for combat. Having the Fire Attribute abilities of the Molten Gold Battle Tiger, he temporarily did not need a fire-based plant. Furthermore, the current environment was entirely submerged in water, which heavily suppressed fire. He had originally chosen the Molten Gold Battle Tiger firstly for its mental suppression, and secondly because it had the highest Level and a high potential ceiling. A Water Attribute or Ice Attribute plant capable of living in the water would be a good choice.
Filtering out a portion of the plants, Han Ning projected his Mental Power onto the water and ice plants. As his Spirit focused on the silhouettes, their names automatically surfaced in his mind.
"A Water and Electricity kelp... The attributes are decent, but both the upper and lower limits are too low, and the electricity’s power isn’t strong."
"Water Attribute... the Radiant Jade Sea Duckweed. It specializes in nourishment and Purification, leaning toward Support... I feel like it would suit Lin Qianqian perfectly."
Han Ning still leaned more toward combat, and Support plants lacked a certain level of offensiveness. He might consider fusing with a Support plant in the future, but not during the Basic Level.
"Nether Blue Bramble. Its temperament is piercing and thorny, integrating both offense and defense. It leans more toward crowd control and lethality."
His gaze lingered on the cluster of bramble silhouettes near the space beneath his feet, which were shimmering with a cold, nether blue light.
"Ice Attribute... but it feels like something is missing. It would be great if it had water traits as well."
In his understanding, water and ice could transform into one another, but that didn’t seem to be the case among these plants. The two forms displayed entirely different traits. He wanted a plant that could adapt to a deep-water environment, yet retain formidable combat prowess even after leaving the water. Ideally, it would possess both Water’s Resilience and the Sharpness of ice. Water plus any attribute, or ice plus any attribute, would both work. He was basically trying to have his cake and eat it too.
"I’ll keep looking. If there’s nothing else, I’ll choose the Nether Blue Bramble."
Han Ning’s Spirit swept outward, continuing to scour further away. The further the space, the greater the Mental Power consumed.
"An aquatic algae? No, its life aura is too weak."
"Ice Coral? Its vitality is mediocre, and its growth ceiling feels a bit low. No good!"
Just as his Spirit continuously expanded, unable to find a suitable plant, he was preparing to go back and choose the Nether Blue Bramble.
HUM.
At the furthest reaches of his Spirit, a unique plant entered his Perception Range. In his perception, that spatial area was exceptionally profound, as if situated amidst ten-thousand-year-old glaciers. Astonishingly, the source of the radiance was the silhouette of a tree. Moreover, the area surrounding it wasn’t an empty void; rather, it manifested a mound of blue permafrost. Han Ning focused on drawing closer, and the appearance of this plant was clearly revealed in his perception.
