Chapter 576 - An Unexpected Turn Of Events
Max saw that the call was from Lear's father.
"Hello.." He picked it up. It was most probably to ask about his wife's condition. But Max was in for a surprise.
"I am here," Ander's voice sounded from the other end.
It really surprised Max because there was no way that he could have reached the place this soon. At most it would be tomorrow morning or noon.
Max talked to him for a while before hanging it up.
It seemed that he was coming to the hotel. He wanted to see Lesia as soon as possible. What surprised Max was that he actually didn't want to meet her but just stay by her side and observe her. It seemed he was feeling guilty for not allowing her out for a while and especially not taking her to meet her sons.
So, he decided to take the role of bystander and observe her until she satisfied herself. After all, now that Lesia was here, she would definitely not return without seeing Lear. So, it actually didn't matter anymore whether he revealed himself sooner or later. They would spend the same amount of time here anyway.
"It's good that he arrived. But what would I say when he is here?" Max really felt troubled now. Lear's mom was in the Roxley House. He just hoped that Ander wouldn't react in a wrong manner.
At this moment, his phone began to ring again. This time, it was an unknown number. Max picked it up and a sweet and feminine voice sounded from the other hand, "Hello, Max?"
"Yes, who is this?"
"I am Lora's mom, Melinda."
Max's face changed and his tone immediately became more polite. He had noticed that Melinda had deliberately introduced herself as Lora's mom. She was definitely trying to show her friendliness which was polar opposite to Roman. Max couldn't be any more happy to accept it.
"Yes, Aunty. How are you?" Max replied, throwing down all the formalities.
Melinda seemed to be very pleased with Max's tone. She was obviously happy that he didn't sound angry or upset on the face at least.
"I am extremely sorry for what happened with my husband earlier." She apologized for it.
Max was pleased a bit. At least her mother was very sensible and she even managed to find out about the incident so quickly.
"I am sending someone to pick you up. You can treat him like your servant. If he doesn't listen to you then just tell me."
Max was a bit confused by her words but that wasn't the point here. Lear's father was coming. He couldn't possibly leave now.
"I am sorry, but I don't think I can make it now. I had some urgent work come up. Please say sorry to Lora for me. I will definitely come another day." Max apologized with a sigh. He was going to miss a golden opportunity today.
"Well, then just refuse the person who is coming to get you. He can actually be pretty stubborn once he makes up his mind. I can't do anything about him," Melinda replied with a smile.
Max felt a bit weird. Was she sending a servant to invite him or some important person? Anyway, he just gave it a nod and told her that he would do it.
…
On the other side, a man arrived at the entrance of the Hotel.
It was Lear's father, Ander Barnes.
He currently seemed to be in a disguise and was travelling all alone. After he entered the place, he immediately went towards the upper floor. Max had already told him which room to come to.
Andre was stopped by a guard mid way but it was easily dealt with. After all, Max had made arrangements for him to pass through.
Once Ander reached the place, he found Max standing at the door waiting for him.
"Hello.." Max awkwardly greeted him with a slight bow. Ander really had a good disguise on, even Max couldn't tell it out.
Ander looked at Max and smiled before giving him a hug and patting his back. "This is how you should be greeting your Uncle.."
It seemed he had already accepted Max into his family. Max didn't mind though. It wasn't bad after all.
"You don't know how much trouble you have saved me from. I really can't thank you enough," Ander said with a grateful face as he looked at Max. If it wasn't for Max, he would have actually one crazy searching for his wife.
"It's nothing.." Max shook his head with a smile. It was a bit troublesome, but for Lear, Max was willing to bear it.
"So, where is she?" Ander couldn't seem to wait another second to see his wife.
"Umn.." Max forced a smile on his face and it made Ander frown.
"Is she alright?" He couldn't help it, but ask a bit nervously.
"Yes, she is fine. It's just that she is not here at the moment," Max replied while sweating a bit.
"What do you mean?" Ander's expression turned dark.
"She is out for dinner.."
Ander relaxed on hearing that and then asked, "Where?"
"Roxley House," Max replied as his face twitched a bit.
"..."
A silence ensued in the surrounding.
"Is this a joke?" Ander looked at Max, who shook his head.
"What was she thinking?" Thankfully, Ander didn't react crazily and just sighed at his wife's action. Max didn't tell him that he was the mastermind behind it. After all, he wasn't a fool.
Ander immediately took his transmitter out and went towards the corner before dialing on someone's frequency. He even deployed a mana barrier to stop the voice from leaking out. To be honest, Max would have failed to hear anything in such a situation but Ander was currently restraining himself to the Master Tier.
When the situation paired up with Max's godly ears and spirit energy, it became a bane for Ander's barrier.
Max could hear everything crystal clear, "Hello, yeah my wife is at your home…..Yeah, she is using her stage name from back in the day....take care of her for me…."
Max's eyes widened in surprise. There was someone in the Roxley House whom Ander had so much trust in? Now, that was surprising. He wondered who it was?
As Ander turned around and came towards Max, his eyes suddenly widened and he stopped in his tracks.
Max was initially confused with the look on his face. But, he soon realized that Ander wasn't looking at him. He immediately turned around and cursed inwardly when he saw that familiar face.
It was Roxley Lord.
His expression wasn't good either.
Roman continued to look at Ander with an ugly face before he muttered in an icy tone, "Barnes…"
