Chapter 572 - An Overprotective Father
Melan seemed to be paying for his actions. It could be seen that him being a jerk had completely earned him the ire of the people but it was still a wonder that he had managed to retain himself at the 21st position.
It was one thing to be sly like Orca was, it indeed left people grinding their teeth but it was a clever strategy while this guy had just completely shown himself as a Jerk, there was nothing sly about him in it.
Max couldn't help but laugh looking at it but the next instant, the television suddenly exploded shooting out sparks all around and it immediately ceased Max's laugh as his face changed.
In the end, he could only shook his head in realization while turning aeound to see a person standing behind him.
It was the Lord of Roxley House, Roman Roxley.
His expression didn't look good at all and he didn't seem happy at all.
"Who let him in?!" He suddenly shouted almost scaring Max for once.
Max looked at the him and saw that he looked really pissed.
'Is this person serious?' Max really didn't know how to react. Wasn't this guy being a bit too rude just because he laughed at Melan? If he really had so much problem. Why not just kick the guy out for causing him such shame?
The servant who had led Max in immediately rushed in after hearing Roman scream in anger and his face was instantly covered in sweat. It was clear that he was having a hard time here.
"Who allowed him inside?" Roman glared at the poor guy who was shaking in fright.
"I-It was on Mistress's order.." The person somehow managed to get the words out of his mouth.
Roman frowned on hearing that before shifting his gaze towards Max, "It seems we have some misunderstanding here."
Max smiled and as he was about to say that it was fine and that he didn't mind it, Roman further spoked, "You are not invited here, get out."
Max's face twitched on hearing that. He couldn't understand where all this hostility was coming from after all. He didn't think he had done anything to make an enemy out of this guy.
"Lora was the one to have actua-"
"Shut up! Get out right now!" Roman shouted interrupting Max and pointed at the main door.
Max almost snapped at him but he knew that he couldn't do that if he wanted things to work for Lear. In the end, he just gave him a glance before quietly walking out of the place.
Seeing Max leave, Roman snorted before looking at the servant and warning him, "I don't want any friend of that Barnes's shitty son around my daughter. Do you get it?"
The person immediately nodded and seemed to have remembered that a similar instruction was passed few days ago with a list of people who were not to be invited to the welcome party which the Roxley's were setting up to welcome the students. The order had been personally handed to them by the Lord and it turned out to be full of the students from Arcane.
It all happened after Roman observed the changes in his daughter ever since her returned. It seemed she had changed and after a little sneaking and stalking her on social media, he found that she was walking down the wrong path. In the end, he got her phone hacked and the truth became very apparent to him when he saw the chats between Lear and Lora. Even though they weren't spelling it out, any person with little E.Q. could figure it out.
Roman knew about Melinda inviting Lear for dinner. But he thought it was just to thank him for his help. Yet, this was something entirely different here.
After he realized the truth, Roman entered the protective father mode. He wasn't even willing to have Lear's shadow over Lora. If it wasn't for his wife, he would have probably gone knocking on Barnes's door to wage a war about it.
It definitely didn't seem easy to convince him regarding the relationship between Lear and Lora. It was definitely going to be tough.
…
Max walked out of the main gate of Roxley House and sighed. If it hadn't been for Lear, he definitely would have done something to let his steam off. After all, who wouldn't be angry after something like this happening.
In the end, Max just shook his head. It was better to get out of here now. Even if he ended up bumping into Lora, he didn't think he would be able to maintain a calm face. After all, he had been through much stuff which had pissed him today and he really would not be able to hold back if someone tried to do something funny again.
Just imagine how many things had happened today with Max, the incident with Elly, Janet causing trouble, Lear and him almost at war, Synthia pissing him off and now this.
One needed to have a break, this was just too much to bear. In the end, Max just took off towards the Hotel were they were staying.
As soon as Max left, a car arrived towards entrance before stopping right in front of it and the windows slowly pulled down to reveal Melinda sitting in it.
"Wasn't that your friend Max?" She asked looking at Lora.
"He is here?" Lora obviously had no idea about it.
"I think I saw him as well," Lesia intervened while looking at Melinda.
Melinda had actually joined the group half the way and it seemed that she and Lesia had hit off pretty well. Lesia had been doubtful about her, but she was not someone simple as well and after carefully judging her, she deemed her to be a nice person for now.
"Where is he? Why don't I see him?" Janet asked while looking for Max through the window.
Melinda frowned, she had clearly seen him moving out of here. It was clear that he was coming from inside and judging from the way he took off, it seemed he was in a hurry to leave.
"You people go inside, I will catch up in a bit." Melinda said with a smile before getting out of the vehicle.
As the vehicle went in, she immediately turn to look towards the guards on the gate and asked them, "What happened?"
The two immediately tensed up but then shook their heads saying that they didn't know anything.
"Who do you think is more scary? Me or him?" She asked while glaring at the two and their faces instantly turned pale.
"We really don't know anything Mistress. We just heard the Lord shout in anger, that's it." One of the guard instantly gave it out in fear and Melinda's face changed.
"Yes, lady. A minute or two later after the Lord's shout, that Young Master left the place.." The other guard didn't dare to hold back seeing his colleague had already given.
"Roman…" Melinda muttered light as her face turned extremely menacing.
