Chapter 439 - The Party Begins
Edwinson House, Capital.
Max returned and most of the people still were giving him a weird look. The elders at least gave him an awkward smile while the younger ones either ignored him or looked at him with a bit of hostility.
But no one doubted his strength anymore.
Max didn't pay any attention to these people and just went to meet Lilly.
"Brother!!"
The little girl was already waiting for Max after hearing from Vitni that Max would be coming today.
Once she saw him, she immediately ran towards him.
Max smiled as picked her up.
"Welcome back.…" Aunty Vitni smiled as she looked at the siblings.
Max nodded at her and smiled in return.
He then went towards his room. Well, his mom's room. He didn't have a room to begin with after all, only from today will his presence be confirmed.
Max spent a lot of time playing around with Lilly until she was tired and fell asleep.
He then left the room, planning to go and look for the old man.
As soon as he walked out of the room, he bumped into a figure who still had a bandage wrapped around his head.
It was Nathan.
Max was a bit surprised to see that he had healed so quickly. Well, today was an important day...his presence was important as well...they must have spent a lot of money to get him back onto his feet.
Max didn't have any intention to talk to him but unexpectedly the guy spoke first.
"Uhmn…do you have any idea how to act today? Have you attended formal parties before?"
"I will act like I usually do….is there any problem with it…" Max asked as he looked at it.
Nathan frowned as he looked at him, his father had asked him to give Max a bit of advice. If not for that, he wouldn't be talking to him.
He put out four fingers ahead and said, "I don't expect much from you...just don't do these four things….for the sake of our family…"
"First, Don't provoke anyone for no reason…"
"Second, Do not curse…"
"Third, Do not raise your hands first at all cost…."
"Last, Don't be too straight forward while flirting…."
Max brows twitched when he heard the last one. Did that thing really need to be said?
Nathan didn't linger around after that and left.
Max went downstairs and informed his Aunt that Lilly was fast asleep in his room.
"Where is ol..Grandfather, Aunt?" Max asked with a smile. He almost had a slip of tongue.
"Ah...yes...Father is in his chamber entertaining some guests…" Vitni replied.
Max nodded. It might not be the best time to meet him.
"There you are...we still haven't picked up your attire for today…" Janet had been looking for Max and finally found him.
…..
Lorenz House, Capital.
"Elly...let's go….it's time to leave…" Lisa informed her. They had all gotten ready for the party.
Elly nodded as she looked at her phone. Her grandpa had told her that she would let her meet the guy at the party. Her face looked a bit tense.
She closed her eyes for a moment and sat there silently. A minute later, she opened her eyes and her usual demeanor had returned. She then got up to leave.
….
Edwinson House, Capital.
The guests had started to arrive. Max looked at the scene and felt a headache. He wasn't an introvert….but he really wasn't used to this…..
A minute later, Max went down stairs and met Razel and Janet. They were waiting for him.
Nathan was out meeting the one's in his generation while Vitni was out there to do her job as the only lady of the house. She was out there skillfully handling the lady guests.
"Stay with me… After Father gives up the toast, I will introduce you to everyone. Important people from our family, allies, business partners…" Razel said as he looked at Max.
"Can I leave after that?'' Max asked as he looked at him.
Razel smiled as he shook his head.
"You can't leave so soon....let Janet handle it. You are new to these things….you will slowly get used to it…" Razel patted Max's shoulder with a smile. Even he was afraid that Max might lose his temper.
Max couldn't really believe it. Did he really look like some kind of loose cannon? He knew how to control himself...besides, Janet was being asked to take care of him…..he didn't know if he was supposed to treat that as an insult or not....
"I have already asked Nathan...if something occurs. Just ask for him…"
Max nodded as he looked at his Uncle.
….
"Who do you think is the person?" A guy asked as he looked at the person beside him.
"I heard it's him...the one they call the Revolutionary…''
"How is that possible? That filthy commoner…."
"Didn't he kill Victor?"
"Why do you think he wasn't punished? It's because his position obviously is higher in this family…"
"Wait? Why the hell is he against us when he is a noble himself?"
"The commoner students worship him like a good...not to mention after that event, they have been really getting cocky….."
A group of guys has been talking around. They weren't the only one, a lot of people had more or less confirmed who Max was after the commotion he had caused.
Nathan was busy talking to a group of people when suddenly someone called out to him.
"If it isn't the Young Lord Nathan...I heard a few interesting things….you aren't hurt, are you?"
Nathan frowned for a second before turning around with a smile, "I wonder might you be talking….Young Lord Alan.."
"I might have been mistaken I guess….so, where is this new person?" Alan smiled as he looked at him.
"He will be arriving soon. My younger cousin is still not used to it. I hope you any mind his late arrival…" Nathan said with a smile. He didn't expect this guy to personally show up.
"How could I?" Alan shook his head before continuing, "Well then, I sti have to greet a few other people..."
Nathan looked a hin before turning around. He still had a few people he had to greet as they were the hosts of today's party.
There were a lot of people from the various upper society families….but people from the 12 Noble Houses were given the utmost importance….
Erina had arrived from the Scarlet House, Tyler from Tempest House, Lisa from Walker House, Arnold from (Lear's second brother) from Barnes House, Elly from Lorenz, Aria from Achilles, Alan from Blackwood, Namen from Frost House, Lora from Roxley House, Felix Zen (Bahamut) from Zen House, unexpectedly there wasn't anyone from the main line of Ovens House. The one who had come representing the younger generation was just the son of one of the Seniors.
But Nathan was relieved. Except for Alan there wasn't any guy who might cause something here…..It wasn't a lie to say that the 12 Celestials were already in the Capital probably….since the competitions were about to begin…..
If all of them gathered here, sparks were surely to fly…..it was a good thing that they didn't pay attention to Max….
After all the news that Max had beaten Nathan still hadn't reached everyone's ears. That day, Max had already wiped out most of the younger people and only a few of the younger ones had witnessed him beating Nathan….
They were probably asked to keep quiet. As for the elders they wouldn't go around spewing about it, not to mention they were interested in the matter of younger ones….
Not to mention, Nathan appearing the public two days later without any injuries had cleared off the doubts even if people had heard the rumours….
….
At this moment, the Lord of Edwinson House arrived. Everyone immediately got up to pay their respect.
There was a charming guy dressed in a tuxedo walking beside him. It was Max, even he had to look twice in the mirror to confirm it was really him….
He knew he was handsome, but today he was really looking better than usual...
Razel and Saleos followed behind them.
The old man went up and picked up his position as the host and Max quietly stood beside him, indifferent to the gazes of people.
"I welcome everyone who has come to take part in this joyous occasion of my family…."
"Today, my grandson Max, Zack's son, has returned after years of separation….I hope you all may give him your blessings…." The old man said as he smiled and looked at Max.
Max quietly took a step forward and gave a slight bow.
"For my grandson's return….."
The old man then raised his glass and the people followed his action.
A few younger people's faces weren't looking good. They were handed juice instead of wine because they still didn't have the qualification to drink wine. At least for the sake of law….
''He didn't even say why the person was missing for so many years…" One of the guys muttered as he looked at Max.
"Yeah, where are his parents?"
"Why was his mother exiled?"
"Why don't you all go and ask the old man if you are so curious?" The person beside them sneered.
But who would dare to…
Even last time when Lilly arrived, the old man didn't give much explanation. He just needed to give a few words of explanation to the other senior members of his house, the rest didn't matter…
After he was done, he quickly left the place…
Razel brought Max along with him to greet a few people.
Max tried his best and put on a smile to meet them.
After that was complete, there was a never ending stream of young people who wanted to have a word with him.
Max continued to smile and do his best. Janet stood by his side and tried to help him as well. Unexpectedly, she was pretty good at it...even better than Max...
Thankfully, there were many girls from the mainline of 12 Houses here today. Those girls were like magnets attracting guys and decreasing the pressure on Max.
"This is certainly unexpecting…"
Max smiled hearing the familiar voice and turned around to see Tyler.
"You aren't happy to see your best friend?" Max smiled as he took a step aside leaving Janet behind to talk with him.
"Best friend?" Tyler gave him a look. He certainly didn't remember that.
"Now, don't be like that…" Max smiled and then slight turned his head and his eyes met with Namen.
The girl's face twitched but she gritted her teeth and then put on a smile as she walked towards them.
"So, you finally got into the family, Bro.." Namen said as she looked at Max without paying any attention to Tyler.
Max was speechless. She couldn't find anything else to say? And what's with bro? They looked like buddies instead of brother and sister.....
But Max still smiled. He had to continue.
"Yeah, how have you been these days lil sis...you better not be playing around…" Max said with a smile and patted Namen's head which made her face twitch.
She was really feeling embarrassed because Tyler's dumbfounded gaze on her along with the various looks from the people around.
"I will go and see Lora...see you around...you too, Tyler…''
With that, Namen quickly left.
"You know her?" Tyler asked as he looked at Max in surprise.
"Yeah, we are classmates...don't you know...you are in the same class as well.." Max said with a smile.
"I know that...I meant you seem pretty close…" Tyler said as he looked at Max.
"Yeah, she asks me for advice regarding smithing from time to time....so I kind of decided to teach her a bit…" Max replied calmly.
"She is pretty, right?" Max asked with a smile and Tyler's face twitched as the look in his face dimmed down a bit. But he replied with a nod.
"But not as pretty as my girlfriend…" Max said with a proud look as if he was boasting.
Tyler looked at Max and his expression seemed to have eased a bit and returned to normal.
'This guy is so easy to control…' Max thought inwardly. He had obviously noticed the change in his expression.
