The Almighty Dragon Rider Returns
Chapter 98: I Was Never Here
The two healers immediately hold their hands out toward each other as they closed their eyes.
Then their breathing started to move in the same exact slow rhythm as the two connected their magic together.
And immediately, white glowing mist started to pour out from their fingertips.
It was looking like a clean water as it moved smoothly from the healers and toward Reynold.
As the the white mist touched Reynold’s open wound, his whole body started vibrating. He was pushed up from the soft sofa in a small painful jolt before he then crashed right back down on the sofa. He was still not moving..
The white glowing fog then entered inside the open wound and spread out inside his body like tiny and fast moving threads, that was trying to fight off the dark sickness.
Nymeria just stood right there in the middle of the room. She was completely feeling helpless.
She rubbed her right palm over and over with her left hand while she tapped her feets nervously on the floor. And her eyes were on Reynold’s pale face without moving.
By the far side of the room, Nyx was walking back and forth near the front window.
The White glowing mist kept pouring inside Reynold, and pumping wave and wave of white mist deep inside him.
But the wound was not healing.
Sweat was already pouring down the senior healer’s forehead in small drops. Painful groan even left her lips. The wound refused to close. The dark poison inside was pushed back against the white mist. The venom was fighting back at the healing thread from the inside.
This was the exact same poison that the other cadets with the arrow wound has.
The healers at the infirmary have tried to heal it before Nymeria came but no luck.
Suddenly, the junior assistant let out a choked gasp as her eyes rolled back into her head, and she fell.
She to the floor, and her magic stopped working and then fade out.
The senior healer shifted her head quickly to look at her subordinate.
Seeing that she could not hold the magic link alone any longer, she instantly cut off the magic and dropped down to her knees beside her subordinate.
She checked her pulse and to make sure she was breathing.
Nyx stopped pacing instantly as she raised her eyebrow and her eyes flew back to Reynold.
Seeing he was not still moving, panic flooded over Nymeria completely.
She rushed over to the sofa, and started tapping Reynold’s cheeks over and over..
"Reynold...! Reynold!" She was calling his name at the top of her lungs.
He was not responding and his face was becoming more pale.
"Why did it not work?" Nymeria cried out with her voice laced with pure fear.
The senior healer looked up with, her face full of defeat. "The venom is too strong and it is fighting back.. Our magic simply can not heal it."
A small tear fell free and ran down Nymeria’s face before she could stop it.
"No," she muttered, shaking her head. "There has to be a way. There must be something that can heal him!"
Nyx, who was standing there in pure shock. She felt all the strength leave her body.
Then her legs gave out and she sat down on the floor. She was completely broken now.
She had already lost her girlfriend to the forsaken and the Queen of death army, and now her girlfriend best friend was about to die right in front of her.
Nymeria pressed her face down against Reynold’s cold chest.
Her shoulders were shaking as she said over and over: Please... please, you have to wake up.
At the same time, the sofa started to shake.
Nymeria snapped her head up. Nyx shifted her from the floor to look at the sofa.
The two healers froze, as they stared in shock.
The oily black poison that was crawling under Reynold’s skin started to move out.
It bubbled up from the wound, and was moving out of Reynold’s body in a twisted shape.
"What the fu*k is happening?" Nymeria eyes widened. Her was voice full of shock and fear.
Outside the window, a figure in a green cloak was standing there. The cloak hood was covering her face. It was hard to know who she was.
Her right hand was raised and her fingers were moving in a strange, steady rhythm like she was counting and tapping to an unseen beat.
Her lips were also moving. She was saying words no one else could hear.
Inside the room, the floating black venom moved up. It rushed toward the ceiling like a snake that was ready to strike. It then flattened out and suddenly started moving toward the back window.
Everyone in the room shifted their heads as their eyes followed the dark liquid and watched flow to the window without stopping.
The movement was fast, smooth, and completely impossible.
The senior healer was staring with her mouth open. She was looking like she had just saw a ghost.
Nymeria jumped to her feet and rushed straight to the window. She pushed the window open and stretched her neck to look.
She saw the figure standing outside.
The dark venom was pouring directly into the stranger’s bare palm. The woman winced as she was feeling the burning pain of the dark poison soaking into her skin, but she did not let go.
Nymeria just stood there, and she was too shocked to say anything.
With a low, painful groan, the figure twisted the fingers she had been counting and pointed them down toward the ground.
The dark venom flowed straight out of her hand and poured right into the ground.
Nymeria blinked then her eyes moved away from the stranger to look down at the ground, and then she rushed back to Reynold’s side.
The black mist inside the wound was completely gone. Only a normal, clean arrow hole was there.
Nyx scrambled up from the floor, her eyes wide. "How.... what the bloody hell just happened?"
Before Nymeria could answer, the figure was already standing right there on the window.
"You don’t heal a wound when a venom is inside," the stranger said. "You have to suck the poison out first before you try to close the flesh."
The senior healer swallowed. "Who... are you?"
The figure tilted her head slightly. "I was never here, and non of you ever saw anyone in a green cloak. The poison was all sucked out by you, senior healer."
Hearing those words, the senior healer looked down at her subordinate, then at Nymeria, and then back at the figure before she slowly let out a nod. "Okay."
The figure nodded back. "Now... try to heal the wound again."
Before they could blink, the figure vanished.
Since the poison was already out, the senior healer did not need her subordinate to link her magic with her.
The subordinate just stood and watched.
The senior healer stepped forward, took a deep breath and then stretched out her arm.
White mist started coming out from her palm. It flowed toward Reynold on the sofa.
As the white mist touched the wound, the open flesh started to heal back together with quick speed.
The wound closed up quickly right before their eyes until there was nothing left.
Nymeria dropped to her knees as she touched the spot with her shaking fingers.
Seeing that the wound was completely healed, she let out a shaky breath. "It worked."
She shifted her head back toward the window, but the figure was not there.
Nyx then let out a long sigh of relief.
