Chapter 109: She’s Awake

Before anyone could move or do anything, the wooden door was pushed open, and Lord Damon walked inside.

Dark black mist immediately started wrapping around his full body, from head to toe.

Gideon’s eyes went wide. "Black magic, everyone!"

Before he could even finish talking, Lord Damon flicked his hand.

BANG!

A strong force hit them all at once.

Gideon, Evan, West, Nyx, and Niya were thrown very hard to the ground.

Only Reynold was left standing.

The black mist quickly spread across the floor and wrapped tightly around their necks. They started choking and holding their throats as they struggled to breathe.

Lord Damon then turned his eyes to Reynold as a vicious smile spread over his face. "You really think you could run away from me?"

Reynold stared at the black mist around Damon. Everything suddenly made sense to him. "So... you really helped the Malpas tribe..."

At this time, Reynold did not need any one to elaborate for him. Lord Damon was a dragon rider. The only way he could have gotten his hands on black magic was working with the Malpas tribe.

Lord Damon let out a cold scoff and took a step forward. "Did you kill my son?"

Reynold was silent for a while. He looked at his friends on the floor, then back at Damon. He decided to try his luck and just maybe, maybe he could reach him.

"It... It was an accident," Reynold said, nodding his head with out trying to deny it. "My power burst... and I did not know how to control it. It..."

Damon’s face turned ugly with anger before Reynold could finish talking..

"Do you think I care if it was an accident?!" he shouted. "That was my only child! My only blood and you killed him!"

He took another step closer. "I am going to kill you over and over again until I am satisfied!"

Reynold glanced at the rest on the floor. They were still struggling as the black mist was choking them harder.

Reynold smiled faintly. It was over for him.

"Please..." Reynold said weakly. "At least let my friends go. They do not have anything to do with this."

Lord Damon laughed out loud. "Let them go? So they can go and tell the council i was responsible for the attack on post 6 and have the military coming after me? No! Everyone in this room dies today!"

After saying this, he directed more black mist toward them. It choked them even more, and they were all struggling, and were unable to say a single word.

Reynold became scared. He rushed to reach for his sword, but Lord Damon just flipped his hand.

BOOM!

Reynold was lifted from the ground and thrown in the air. He hit the wall hard before landing on the floor.

Cough! Cough! Cough!

Reynold coughed out blood. He was suddenly shaking, and his face was suddenly pale with a trace of blood at the corner of his mouth. What ever black magic Damon was using on him was weakening him very fast. The pain in his body was making him faint slowly, and he could not even stand stably.

Lord Damon turned back to the others. "I will kill them one by one while you watch."

Just as he was about to move, Reynold stretched out his hand from the floor where he was lying and grabbed Damon’s leg tight.

Lord Damon turned around and flipped his hand again.

THUD!

Reynold was set flying once more. He hit the wall hard again and landed back on the floor.

Reynold spat out more blood as he bit his teeth in pain. He could not even move a figure...

On the ground, Lyra was trying to summon her defensive shield but it was not working.. The black mist was not letting her move.

Suddenly, Aurion burst into the room through the door.

Lord Damon was fast as he quickly released dark mist toward Aurion. But the old black dragon released his fire fast, and it burned the mist into ash before it could touch him.

Before Damon could release more mist, Aurion released another blast of fire right on his face! Damon fell to the ground, yelling and cussing at the dragon in deep pain.

Aurion released the fire again. It seemed the dragon was mad at Lord Damon for soiling his hands with black magic.

By law, dragon riders were not supposed to use black magic. In the past, some rogue dragon riders used dark magic to control their dragons to do plenty atrocities.

This led to a big fight between dragons that were bound with dark magic and the ones that were free. Humans could not even stop the war back then, so they banned the use of black magic in the whole of Valdris.

The old dragon released another batch of fire on Lord Damon, who was still on the floor screaming.

Since Damon was close to dying, he could not control the dark magic anymore.

The black mist disappeared, and everyone in the room fell to the floor.

They were all holding their necks and coughing fast.

Outside, Lord Damon’s dragon let out a loud yelp and suddenly stopped fighting as black mist left his body completely.

Dammit! The dragon was fucking bound by dark magic all along!

Seeing this, Fafnir, Pyreus, and Thornox stopped attacking the dragon.

Lord Damon’s dragon started snorting like it was trying to explain something, and Thornox snorted back. Then Fafnir and Pyreus joined in the snorting too.

Whatever the dragons were arguing about, it was not something humans could understand.

Back inside, Aurion stopped releasing fire once Lord Damon was completely burned and dead. His face was hard to recognise.

The dragon let out low roars then flew back out the same way it came.

Everyone in the room had a horrified look on their face as they stared at the burned body.

Reynold was still on the ground. He was holding his throat. His vision was blurry, and he was not seeing clearly.

Dammit... if he knew he would be at the door of death this many times, he would have just stayed back at the academy...

Just then, a very weak voice sounded from the bed.

"Hey... don’t tell me I missed the intense fight..."

Before she could finish talking, a wave of pain hit her. Nymeria let out a short yelp and fell back onto the bed.
