The Ace Bigshot Becomes A Farmgirl
Chapter 2313: Someone Runs Toward Them
Unable to sleep, Shu Yu and her companions decided to just get up. When they reached the front yard, they saw Xu Dali doing the registration.
Shu Yu, with an expression of curiosity, went behind him and asked, "Is the current registration still the same as before?"
Xu Dali chuckled, "Yes, the form designed by the county magistrate before is still very practical, it’s convenient for documenting, so it’s been continued."
Shu Yu nodded as she observed, "You remember things much more clearly than I do."
As she spoke, she took the opportunity to observe the names mentioned by Shu Quan. When the corresponding person stepped forward, she would take a look and memorize their appearance.
They all seemed quite inconspicuous, appearing honest but listless. Anyone observing them would think that life had worn down their edges. Who could imagine the hidden ambition they had inside?
Steward Yu stood not far away; such matters didn’t usually require his presence, as everyone was proficient in their tasks. But today, since the county magistrate was resting at the Manor, he had to show up as a formality.
He knew Shu Yu and Xu Dali were old acquaintances, so he didn’t interrupt their conversation.
Registering work hours wasn’t confidential, so there was no harm in looking.
He noticed Meng Yunzheng was curiously observing, so he went over and gave him a brief introduction.
Once the registration was almost done, Shu Yu and Xu Dali finished their conversation, having understood Xu Dali’s stance.
Therefore, once Xu Dali finished his tasks, Shu Yu used the excuse of not having gone to the mountain for a long time to ask if he could be their guide, to which Steward Yu readily agreed.
Xu Dali had lost a hand; it was severed when he first joined the hunting team after being exiled here. Although he later became too busy reclaiming wasteland, after he got the registration job, he would visit the mountain periphery whenever he had free time. Whether he wanted to train or heal his psychological scars, at least he was familiar with the mountain’s periphery, so being a guide made sense.
The group followed Xu Dali up the mountain, chatting leisurely as they walked. Once they were out of the atmosphere of Righteous Dao Village, Shu Yu casually asked about the people on the list given to her by Shu Quan yesterday.
She didn’t only inquire about those ten or so people; she also mentioned others.
Xu Dali, although usually silent, was not one to lack opinions. He quickly realized something.
Yesterday, when Shu Yu and her husband were reminiscing at the Xu Family, they spoke extensively about their experiences in Dongan Province. Xu Dali knew Shu Yu was the county magistrate and Meng Yunzheng was the new top scorer, which made both of them people of distinct identities.
Initially, he hadn’t doubted their purpose in coming here, but Shu Yu wouldn’t inquire about these exiled individuals in Righteous Dao Village without reason, especially those implicated during the rebellion of the Second and Third Princes years ago.
So, he shared not only the routine leave and attendance details of those ten or so individuals but also mentioned the names of some others closely associated with Shu Feng, practically in exhaustive detail.
Shu Yu and Meng Yunzheng exchanged a glance, silently committing the information to memory.
They didn’t linger on the mountain long, hunting some wild chickens and rabbits to add to the Fang and Xu Family’s meals, and returned by noon.
Unexpectedly, just as they descended, someone ran up to them, eyes bright, waving enthusiastically, "County magistrate, Young Master Meng."
