Chapter 386 (2) - The Academys Weapon Replicator
Fifth day of the voyage.
The thing we had been worried about happened.
“Monsters on deck! Engaging!”
“They’re climbing up with ropes!”
Sea monsters. Creatures we had never seen before began to attack.
I hurriedly left the cabin and observed the monsters.
The ones climbing onto the deck looked as if humans were covered in fish skin. They walked on two legs and wielded weapons. They were literally humans with claws and gills.
However, they were much larger than humans. They ranged from 2 to 3 meters tall. If they exerted their strength as they appeared, most ordinary people wouldn’t be able to resist at all.
Swish!
Boom!Elodie’s magic, which had already joined the battle, poured down, and the devils’ auras also shone brightly.
I approached Elodie.
“How strong do they seem?”
“Not much different from land monsters. The weak ones are weak, and the strong ones are so-so. I guess the really strong ones haven’t shown up yet.”
Elodie prepared the next spell as she spoke.
And along with that,
“Menosorpo.”
I joined in.
My rune covered the entire size of the ship, and I meticulously sensed the enemies entering this circle.
‘There are also some attacking from underwater.’
Upon sensing, I found that some were attacking the bottom of the ship from underwater instead of climbing up.
They probably weren’t bipedal. The ship’s protective magic didn’t seem to be easily breached, but leaving them alone wouldn’t do any good.
Since the others were handling the deck well, I would take care of the underwater ones first…
Wooong!
My thoughts were interrupted, and I sensed something else entering the rune.
A rock? No, something like an island was approaching the ship.
“…!”
I raised my head and looked at Elodie.
She was also looking at me. In other words, my senses weren’t wrong.
The direction was the bow of the ship.
Thud!
I clad myself in aura and ran. Elodie released her magic formula and prepared a new chant.
‘Arrows won’t do. There’s no need to aim anyway.’
Something bigger and equally sharp was needed.
I quickly prepared what I needed in my right hand.
Weaving
Rank – Unique
Azier’s Spear
I grabbed the spear with my hand as I ran. I poured aura into the tip of the gripped spear.
By the time I reached the bow, Elodie’s spell was complete.
Divine Power Release
Rudra
Wind Magic 3rd Formula
Range Increase, High-Pressure Emission, Radiation
‘Giant’s Fan.’
The moment Elodie clenched her right fist and swung it, a huge gust of wind surged forth, moving the ship.
A tremendous wind pushing the entire ship along with the sails. The force pulled the ship backward from the bow.
And in that empty space…
KuoOoooo!!
A gigantic island rose from the water. With its mouth wide open, it revealed itself above the water with the greed to swallow the entire ship. It looked exactly like a whale, but its absurd size made it clear it was no ordinary whale.
The mere appearance of it tilted the surface of the water, causing the ship to sway. I somehow maintained my balance on the tilted floor and ran to the tip of the bow.
I could have flown to avoid the need for balance, but I needed to be grounded to properly transmit my strength.
“So you’re the ‘Outer One’ of the sea.”
And I took my last step onto the outer edge of the bow. All my inertia was directed towards my right hand holding the spear.
Crackle!
Obsidian gathered on the aura-clad spear, mixing with Helheim’s mana to emit a gloomy black light.
“Hup!”
Holding my breath for a moment.
Swish!
The spear left my hand and shot out in a straight line.
Thwack-*
It pierced the whale’s head.
The creature, which had been opening its mouth with such momentum, lost its focus, and…
KwaaAaa!!
It sank back into the water, powerless, just as it had risen.
“…Did I overdo it a bit?”
It was so huge that I had put a lot of power into the throw. If it was truly on par with the Outer Ones, it was an excessive attack.
But I had learned something.
“Everything in the sea is excessively large.”
Whatever the reason, the monsters we were currently facing were generally large in size. To be precise, their bodies were excessively inflated compared to the power they possessed.
Of course, being large had its advantages, and they could exert even greater force because of it. However, judging from how the devils and Elodie were handling them, they felt quite different from the ones on land.
It wasn’t that everything big on land was necessarily strong, but if something the size of the whale I just killed had appeared on land, it almost certainly wouldn’t have died from that one blow.
“At this level, someone else could take care of them.”
I said that without much thought, but an idea popped into my head the moment I spoke.
“…That ‘someone else’ doesn’t necessarily have to be ‘anyone’.”
