Fifth day of the voyage.

The thing we had been worried about happened.

“Monsters on deck! Engaging!”

Sea monsters. Creatures we had never seen before began to attack.

The ones climbing onto the deck looked as if humans were covered in fish skin. They walked on two legs and wielded weapons. They were literally humans with claws and gills.

However, they were much larger than humans. They ranged from 2 to 3 meters tall. If they exerted their strength as they appeared, most ordinary people wouldn’t be able to resist at all.

Elodie’s magic, which had already joined the battle, poured down, and the devils’ auras also shone brightly.

I approached Elodie.

“How strong do they seem?”

“Not much different from land monsters. The weak ones are weak, and the strong ones are so-so. I guess the really strong ones haven’t shown up yet.”

My rune covered the entire size of the ship, and I meticulously sensed the enemies entering this circle.

A gigantic island rose from the water. With its mouth wide open, it revealed itself above the water with the greed to swallow the entire ship. It looked exactly like a whale, but its absurd size made it clear it was no ordinary whale.

The mere appearance of it tilted the surface of the water, causing the ship to sway. I somehow maintained my balance on the tilted floor and ran to the tip of the bow.

I could have flown to avoid the need for balance, but I needed to be grounded to properly transmit my strength.

Whatever the reason, the monsters we were currently facing were generally large in size. To be precise, their bodies were excessively inflated compared to the power they possessed.

Of course, being large had its advantages, and they could exert even greater force because of it. However, judging from how the devils and Elodie were handling them, they felt quite different from the ones on land.

It wasn’t that everything big on land was necessarily strong, but if something the size of the whale I just killed had appeared on land, it almost certainly wouldn’t have died from that one blow.
