Chapter 79: Chapter 79: God’s Maid

"The entrance is blocked."

Salas reached out and pressed his hand against the mirror’s surface, looking somewhat solemn. "There might be a restriction on this mirror that only allows one person to enter at a time."

"We can only wait for the Guild Master to come back out."

"It’s just... I wonder if he’ll encounter any danger inside."

"Probably not." Although Ji Xiaoyu was also worried, she quickly calmed down. "We’ve already cleared the Dungeon, so the possibility of encountering danger later is very low."

"I’m more inclined to believe this is the subsequent storyline of the Dungeon."

"Storyline?" Salas blinked. "Didn’t they say the Cold Ice Silence Realm had no storyline?"

Ji Xiaoyu shook her head slightly. "Sometimes, it’s not that there isn’t one, but just that no one has found it yet."

"Adria, you are the daughter I am most proud of! The brightest pearl of Bright Mirror City!"

The resounding voice made Yu Zhun, who had entered the Main Mirror in a daze, shudder involuntarily.

He subconsciously looked up in the direction of the voice. In the very center of the grand hall, under the gaze of everyone, a wealthy middle-aged man dressed as a noble was holding a young girl’s hand with immense excitement.

That young girl...

Yu Zhun’s gaze followed, and his mind trembled slightly.

Although her hair color was different, Yu Zhun was exceptionally familiar with those exquisite facial features. The young girl in front of him bore an astonishing resemblance to the Cold Ice Mirror Demon he had just slain. The only difference was that the girl looked a few years younger and more immature.

He subconsciously tried to move, only to find that his body couldn’t act—or rather, it couldn’t act according to his intentions. He watched helplessly as he raised his own hands and, like the other guests around him, clapped vigorously after the man finished speaking.

Seeing that the clothes on his sleeves were completely different from his own, Yu Zhun vaguely understood his current situation. His consciousness seemed to have been cast into someone else’s body.

Like... an immersive movie?

Yu Zhun stopped dwelling on it and began to carefully observe the young girl named Adria through this body.

"Just today! Adria has gained the favor of the God of Bright Mirror and has been chosen as the God’s handmaiden!" The middle-aged noble solemnly announced this major event to the guests present. "This is the most dazzling and glorious moment for our family. I sincerely invite you all here, hoping to share it with you!"

So she was chosen as the God’s handmaiden, Yu Zhun thought. But why did she later become the Cold Ice Mirror Demon?

He felt a little puzzled. His gaze landed on the young girl’s face. She didn’t seem... happy.

The scene shifted in the next instant. The young girl had returned to her room, facing a mirror alone, crying profusely.

"Miss Adria, becoming the God’s handmaiden is a blessing that so many people can only dream of. Please don’t cry anymore."

A gentle female voice sounded. Yu Zhun subconsciously wanted to cover his mouth, a strange feeling welling up in his heart.

Had he... temporarily become Adria’s maid? Never mind, he thought. The storyline was more important; he shouldn’t sweat these small details.

Adria turned around abruptly and grabbed the maid’s hands. "Neris, I want to leave this place. I want to see him.

"You can help me, right?"

"Miss..." Neris sighed. "The God’s handmaiden must remain absolutely pure. You should forget him."

"No! I..." Adria shook her head vigorously, a pleading look in her eyes. "Just one last time!

"Just let me say a proper goodbye to him, okay?"

The softhearted Neris remained silent for a long time, then nodded.

Through the perspective of the maid Neris, Yu Zhun watched as the two sneaked out of their castle. After a long trek and sneaking around, they finally entered another castle.

There, a handsome young man was waiting to welcome the young girl.

"Par!"

Adria threw herself into the young man’s embrace, her eyes full of sorrow. "I don’t want to be separated from you. I don’t want to become the God’s handmaiden!"

"I’m sorry, Adria." Par looked at her with deep affection and reluctance, his hand tightening slightly around her waist. "If I had done better in that expedition against the Ice Snow Country, maybe everything could have changed.

"If there were no threat from the Ice Snow Country, our kingdom wouldn’t have to exhaust everything to please the God, or even..." He stroked Adria’s hair, his gaze turning sorrowful. "I’m truly sorry."

"Par, I’m so afraid that this meeting will be our last," Adria forced a smile. "So, talk to me more, okay?"

"What do you want to hear?"

"Anything. Tell me about everything you encountered during the ice and snow expedition—those monsters that breathed cold air, the Wizards and Hunters fighting in the snowy wilderness. Tell me about our past when we first met, or something else..." Adria’s voice carried a hint of pleading. "I don’t want a single second to go by without hearing your voice."

"Okay." Par wrapped his arm around Adria’s waist again. The flawless couple exchanged their longing for each other amidst the blooming flowers.

However, such beauty did not last long.

Because of Adria’s runaway, her family had gone crazy with anxiety. Adria’s father soon rushed over furiously.

"You liar! You’re full of lies!

"I will never let you see my daughter again!"

Adria’s father was furious. After ordering his servants to beat Par up, he forcefully took Adria away and placed her under house arrest, forbidding her from leaving until she became the God’s handmaiden.

And that day soon arrived.

Yu Zhun’s perspective shifted to a servant of the God of Bright Mirror. This servant arrived at Adria’s family arrogantly. After revealing his identity, he demanded to take Adria away.

Adria’s family was overjoyed and quickly brought out the meticulously dressed Adria.

After just a few days of not seeing her, Yu Zhun could no longer see the previous liveliness in this radiant, incredibly beautiful young girl. She wore the most magnificent dress in the world, looking like a soulless puppet.

"The God must not be gazed upon!"

In front of the God’s hall, the God’s servant sternly warned Adria, then pushed open the doors of the hall.

Endless brilliant light radiated from within the doors. He could vaguely make out an existence possessing infinite, mighty power sitting on the throne at the very center of the grand hall.

Yu Zhun wanted to see clearly, but the servant had already lowered his head. This man, who had strutted around Adria’s family with his nose stuck up in the air, was now as humble as dust.

The hem of Adria’s magnificent long dress dragged across the spotless stone steps as she slowly walked forward.

The hall doors slowly closed. Vaguely, the young girl’s pleading and crying echoed from within the sacred hall.
