Chapter 61: Chapter 61: Monster Consumed by Ambition
"If the instructions are right, this should be how it’s planted..." In the small garden of their new home, Yu Zhun looked at the strawberry seedlings planted in the soil, sounding a bit uncertain.
After lunch, the energetic Yu Zhu had dragged Yu Zhun out to buy flowers and strawberry seedlings. Since she had afternoon classes, she ran off right after buying them, leaving the task of planting squarely on Yu Zhun’s shoulders.
"Whatever, it should be fine." After double-checking, Yu Zhun walked back inside. Seeing that it was just about time, he logged into the Divine Revelation World.
Inside the guild, Ji Xiaoyu, who had also reviewed their Dungeon schedule, had arrived early. Wasting no time, the two headed straight to the Dungeon Hall.
After exploiting Little Brother once, Ji Xiaoyu’s level had smoothly risen to Lv15. Looking at the wealthy young woman holding her new Magic Staff, Yu Zhun asked out of curiosity, "What’s your Magic Attack at now?"
Ji Xiaoyu, having equipped her new gear, tapped open her status page and glanced at it. A pleasant surprise washed over her face. "It used to be over two thousand, but now it’s sixteen thousand!"
Yu Zhun was speechless.
Wait... The wealthy woman’s Magic Attack was almost catching up to his total health? "Is this even balanced?!" he wondered.
Seeing Yu Zhun’s dumbfounded expression, Ji Xiaoyu explained, "After enhancing my Lv15 Red Magic Staff to +20, its Basic Attributes multiplied several times over, directly giving me over seven thousand Magic Attack.
"Combine that with Arcane Requiem boosting Magic Attack by 100%, and that’s why it’s so high.
"If my accessories weren’t focused on Mana Recovery and my Armor wasn’t geared towards survival, my Magic Attack would probably exceed twenty thousand," Ji Xiaoyu said with a hint of regret.
"You shouldn’t feel regretful," Yu Zhun said, unable to stop himself from rubbing his cheek.
"Is this the true power of a +20 Magic Staff? This is absolutely terrifying," he thought. Taking into account her Equipment effects—Intimidation, Watch, Life Substitution, Transformation, Deep Embrace, and Seize—along with her massive sixteen thousand Magic Attack and the secondary damage from Arcane Requiem, it would only take a mere twenty-five attacks for her to kill him.
Sure enough, he still wasn’t tanky enough.
"Let’s go. We’re heading to Under the Dragon Burial City."
The schedules for the two Dungeons were linked. After clearing Bloody City, the two only needed a brief rest before entering the Teleportation Gate for Under the Dragon Burial City to begin their next run.
Unlike Bloody City, which was almost entirely monopolized by the Hanlong Guild, the guilds applying for Under the Dragon Burial City were a mixed bag. This was because, to date, no guild had achieved a 100% clear rate.
Perhaps because the Godslayer Guild’s flawless first clear of Bloody City the day before was too eye-catching, its appearance on the Dungeon schedule for Under the Dragon Burial City drew significant attention from numerous guilds. Even before stepping into the Teleportation Gate, Yu Zhun could feel the scrutinizing gazes from the surrounding raiding teams.
Fortunately, both he and Ji Xiaoyu were using their secondary avatars.
"Are you the team sent by the Godslayer Guild?" The captain of one of the raiding teams stood with his arms crossed, wearing an arrogant expression. "Just the two of you think you can conquer Under the Dragon Burial City? Aren’t you a little too confident?"
THUD!
Ji Xiaoyu slammed her Magic Staff into the ground. "Do you always talk this much?"
Staring at the dazzling Magic Staff that looked far too spectacular to be mere Purple Equipment, the onlookers’ pupils shrank as a hint of wariness crept into their eyes.
"What are you trying to say?" Yu Zhun held Ji Xiaoyu back and looked at the man. He had a strong feeling that this guy’s provocation harbored an ulterior motive.
"I know your Godslayer Guild flawlessly cleared Bloody City a few days ago," the young man said, staring at Yu Zhun. "But Under the Dragon Burial City cannot be compared to Bloody City.
"Not just anyone can meddle in this Dungeon.
"If you fail to clear it this time, I advise you to obediently go back to farming Bloody City."
"I understand now." Realization dawned on Yu Zhun as his gaze swept across the gathered raiding teams. "You guys are scared?
"Scared that if I successfully conquer Under the Dragon Burial City, you won’t be able to secure the application qualifications for it next time?"
A flash of dread crossed the young man’s eyes. "This guy..." he thought.
Indeed, that was exactly why they were here. Even if they were only a Two-Star guild, no one dared to underestimate a faction that had achieved a perfect first clear of Bloody City. Right now, not a single guild had managed to formulate a definitive guide for Under the Dragon Burial City, and all clear rates remained below 50%. Let alone a perfect clear, if the Godslayer Guild simply achieved a high clear rate, the difficulty for the rest of them to apply for the Dungeon would skyrocket. They might end up missing out on this Dungeon entirely.
Of course, this was also because these guilds didn’t know the Godslayer Guild’s true background and were unaware of how many members it actually had. Since member count dictated the number of times a guild could apply for Dungeons, the Divine Revelation Hall kept that information strictly confidential. Larger guilds had complex member rosters and struggled to hide their numbers, but the Godslayer Guild was an exception.
If these guilds knew that the Godslayer Guild currently only had two members, they wouldn’t have bothered putting on this whole show. They didn’t know, and naturally, Yu Zhun wasn’t going to explain it to them.
"Alright, step aside."
Having figured out the intentions of the guilds behind these raiding teams, Yu Zhun couldn’t be bothered to waste his breath. He led Ji Xiaoyu toward the Teleportation Gate for Under the Dragon Burial City, and soon, the two vanished into the portal.
"Song, do you think they can clear it?" the captain of an adjacent raiding team asked, looking at the young man who had just spoken.
"That so-called perfect clear was probably just a fluke. I don’t believe they’ll have that kind of luck again," the young man surnamed Song sneered, though his brave front barely masked his underlying apprehension.
"We’ll wait right here!
"I want to see just what this Godslayer Guild is made of!"
Setting aside the situation in the Dungeon Hall, Yu Zhun and Ji Xiaoyu successfully entered the Dungeon. As their feet touched solid ground again, they found themselves inside a city.
The previous Bloody City had been a dead town. Because all its residents had transformed into Blood Corpses, the buildings were left in a prolonged state of desolation. Coupled with the shroud of blood mist, the atmosphere had been extraordinarily eerie and grim.
But Under the Dragon Burial City was entirely different. Traces of its former glory could faintly be seen, but it was now utterly reduced to a Ruins City with barely a single intact building in sight. Putting that aside, the sky here was clear and bright. Environmentally, at least, it was far better than Bloody City.
However, this detail was completely useless to Yu Zhun and Ji Xiaoyu. After clearing the first phase, Ruins City, the subsequent phases of the Dungeon would all take place in the pitch-black underground, forever devoid of light.
