Chapter 116: Chapter 111: A Dungeon Boss That Can’t Be One-Shot
[Life -180,238]
Looking at the text floating above Pasol’s head, Yu Zhun couldn’t help but raise an eyebrow.
This guy was actually just like him—a squishy class who stacked tankiness. ℯℓ.
However, thinking of the opponent’s talent, Yu Zhun immediately understood.
When engulfed by the flames the opponent summoned, Yu Zhun had only taken a little over ten thousand damage. This damage was completely offset by the shield provided by the Equipment effect [Watch], which was equivalent to his Life Value.
Such low damage far exceeded Yu Zhun’s expectations. He originally thought he would have to trigger [Sanctuary] again to save his life.
Following that, the opponent’s attack formed a red lotus-like mark above his head, dealing damage to him once every second.
For Magic damage based on a percentage of Life Value, the corresponding Magic Attack value was that percentage of Life Value. Yu Zhun’s Magic Defense was much higher than 10% of his maximum Life Value, so this damage directly triggered [Deep Embrace].
The opponent’s continuous damage instead helped Yu Zhun increase his shield significantly. ℯⅇ𝙡.
As his life bar was emptied, a look of deep disbelief appeared on Pasol’s face.
He thought, "No! Everything I’ve ever dreamed of was so close..."
His expression quickly turned venomous. In the final moments of his life, he muttered, "That damn..."
In the next instant, Pasol dissolved into a sky full of light particles, leaving behind a scatter of items.
[You have killed Player Pasol from Server 9023.]
[Congratulations on obtaining the personal reward: [Divine Demon Medal] x1. Server 45239 has obtained the world reward: [Divine Demon Medal] x1.]
[Your Red Name Value +1. Current Red Name Value: 4.]
"That damn what?" Yu Zhun frowned slightly.
He could sense that the other party wasn’t cursing him. Even though he was the one who took the guy’s life, the person he resented seemed to be someone else entirely.
"Whatever." Yu Zhun shook his head slightly. "Although you were just trying to make me lower my guard, the things you mentioned really did open my eyes."
At the very least, he had learned something about the more powerful servers.
Casually collecting everything Pasol had dropped, a look of surprise once again appeared on Yu Zhun’s face.
"This guy actually didn’t have a [Divine Demon Medal]."
According to his previous guess, players from servers where predecessors had entered the [Nether Abyss] and left alive should all carry a [Divine Demon Medal] when entering this place. Could it be related to the native Gods of Pasol’s world?
Yu Zhun didn’t know much about worlds that possessed native Gods either, so he could only make wild guesses.
Following that, his attention was drawn to something else.
It was a Compass that he had placed into his inventory along with the other items. Half of this Compass was black, and the other half was Golden. He had only seen a similar color scheme on the [Divine Demon Medal].
Opening its details, a line of text appeared before his eyes.
[Divine Demon Compass: Ignores player inventories. Detects the quantity and location of the nearest [Divine Demon Medal] excluding the owner’s own.]
This thing...
A look of realization dawned on Yu Zhun’s face. So that guy named Pasol saying "I’ve been keeping an eye on you for a while" wasn’t just him spouting nonsense. He had likely used this Compass to lock onto him early on, hiding in the dark to observe for a long time before finally choosing to strike.
"Good stuff." Yu Zhun revealed a joyful expression. "The other players I killed before didn’t have any similar items on them. I reckon it’s not easy to craft something like this.
"The nearest [Divine Demon Medal] basically means the nearest player. Although it can’t detect players without medals, this effect is already extremely powerful.
"This is a great item. With it, I shouldn’t be so passive from now on."
Being repeatedly targeted by others left Yu Zhun feeling quite helpless, but Blue Star’s exploration of the [Nether Abyss] was too scarce. Without enough experience, it was normal to suffer losses in the early stages.
Yu Zhun tucked the small Compass into his jacket and looked again at the spot where Pasol was killed, a hint of gratitude in his eyes.
"Pasol, my friend, you’re a good man!"
After thanking the deceased Pasol, Yu Zhun didn’t linger any longer. He sprinted swiftly into a castle far more magnificent than the one on the previous floor.
There were significantly fewer players entering the twenty-fourth floor than when he had first arrived. Moreover, although Yu Zhun wasn’t the first, he could be considered part of the first batch to enter. Fighting his way to the main hall, Yu Zhun didn’t encounter any other Alien Race players.
Instead, the massive number of Demons that attacked him along the way inside the castle—and a small number of newly added Elite Demons compared to the previous floor—allowed him to stack up quite a bit of the [Asura] and [Pure Land] buffs he had lost earlier.
BAM.
With a powerful kick, Yu Zhun threw open the doors to the main hall and saw the boss guarding the twenty-fourth floor.
It was a Demon Commander clad in bulky Armor, sporting a dragon’s head covered in ferocious bone spurs. The creature sat quietly on a seat within the main hall, its Crimson eyes lighting up as Yu Zhun entered.
In the next instant, a resonant, deep voice echoed throughout the entire hall.
"Audacious invader, how dare you trespass into the Nether Land!"
"Show your life bar and cut the crap." Yu Zhun raised his dagger, offering no further words as he faced the opponent whose massive frame resembled a small mountain.
He was still waiting to go to the next floor and catch up with that mysterious frontrunner. If he let that person maintain their lead all the way, and the final boss on the thirty-third floor got sniped, he wouldn’t even have a place to cry about it.
"Audacious!"
Letting out an angry roar, the instantly enraged boss revealed its life bar and entered combat mode.
