Chapter 455: Chapter 142: Two Moms! A Big Job is Here

They were just about to use a magic communication to ask Grand Mage Buddy, who was overseeing things from the central command tent, how many points a Tier Five kill target was actually worth.

Just then, Grand Mage Buddy’s voice, laced with suppressed anger and helplessness, boomed across the area via amplification magic.

"Give him two hundred thousand points."

After saying that, he fell silent.

In truth, the moment Lynch produced the ear of a Tier Five Gnoll chieftain, arguing over how many points a Tier Five creature was worth had already become meaningless.

This kid had single-handedly ruined the entire assessment, utterly stomping the Imperial Capital Academy’s reputation into the dirt and grinding it under his heel for good measure.

Rather than being stingy with the points, it was better to give him the full amount. At least that way, the Imperial Capital Academy would look like they could afford to lose.

With the Grand Mage’s instruction, the assistant teacher immediately began to calculate Lynch’s score according to procedure.

This time, Lynch had submitted three Tier Four kills and one Tier Five, bringing his total score to two hundred and eighty thousand...

And since he hadn’t submitted any Low Tier kills at all, his score was a nice, round number!

"Lynch Blackwood, total score... two hundred and eighty thousand points."

The assistant teacher’s voice trembled as he announced the number.

The moment the number was announced, the entire area fell silent. You could have heard a pin drop.

Did everyone else combined even have that many points?

Well, they probably did, but if you excluded the Tier Four kills where he had assisted Avril and the other two... then the points Lynch had earned on his own had almost certainly surpassed the combined total of everyone else.

This was no longer a joint assessment competition. This was a one-sided slaughter, a dimensional curb-stomp!

And at the same time the points were tallied and uploaded, a brilliant golden flash once again lit up the Magic Screen inside the central command tent.

The name "Lynch Blackwood," glowing with a faint golden light, reappeared at the top of the rankings, and the number of zeroes after his score was dizzying.

Avril Grant was pushed down to second, Lilith Malthus to third, Ophelia Lier to fourth, and Ailendra Moon Language was now in fifth...

The instructors looked at the rankings and fell into a long silence.

In a daze, everyone understood. Even if Lynch hadn’t eliminated the elites from the Imperial Capital Academy ahead of time, they still wouldn’t have been able to make a splash in this assessment.

Lynch could completely control this leaderboard all by himself.

The fact that Ailendra Moon Language was still in fifth place was only because Lynch had shown mercy.

Otherwise, he could have just handed over his remaining Tier Four kills, distributed them amongst Charlotte and the others... then gone and killed another Tier Four Fishman Chieftain or Tier Four Goblin Chieftain, and he could have easily knocked Ailendra out of the top ten!

Realizing this, Ailendra’s gaze toward Lynch grew even more resentful.

’So I have to thank you for going easy on me just so I could get fifth place?’

For a moment, the top student of Silver Moon Academy felt only a bitter taste in her mouth, her strength to even grip her bow draining away.

Under these circumstances, aside from the uncontrollably excited instructors from Hurst Academy, all the instructors and examinees from the other two academies had become completely demoralized, their motivation utterly gone.

It went without saying for the Imperial Capital Academy. Grand Mage Buddy claimed to be ill and refused to come out, hiding in his tent and turning away all visitors. He couldn’t even be bothered to attend the daily routine meetings.

And although the instructors from Silver Moon Academy were still trying their best to maintain a dignified front, the way they looked at the people from Hurst Academy had completely changed.

As for the examinees, they had completely given up.

Since first place was already taken by a huge margin with a terrifying score of two hundred and eighty thousand, what was the point of trying so hard?

The rest of the assessment period turned into complete garbage time.

Everyone either hid in the camp playing cards and drinking, or went fishing by the sea in small groups. Some even started sunbathing on the beach, just hoping for the assessment to end quickly so they could leave this godforsaken, heartbreaking place sooner.

In this strange "peaceful" atmosphere, the only ones who still maintained their fighting spirit were probably the students from Hurst Academy.

They continued to sweep the island for remaining monsters. Although the points were meaningless now, the corpses of the Gnolls and Fishmen were tangible resources. Brought back and converted into Undead Units, they would become real combat power.

Moreover, all the various pearls, Gemstones, and even minerals harvested from clearing out those camps were considered spoils of war and could be taken with them!

Their behavior, naturally, did not go unnoticed by the instructors.

Suddenly, the way the Silver Moon Academy instructors looked at the people from Hurst Academy was no longer quite right.

The competition was clearly already decided, yet these guys were still desperately stripping Silent Island of its resources... And the resources they were stripping belonged to Silver Moon Academy!

「At the same time.」

The East Sea, the Sea of Shattered Stars.

This was an extremely perilous sea, filled with jutting reefs. When the tide receded, these reefs would jut out from beneath the waves like the fangs of colossal beasts.

Countless shattered islands also floated upon the sea’s surface.

These islands, perpetually eroded by frenzied storms, had surfaces of a strange, black color. Not a single blade of grass grew on them, only rugged, bizarre rocks and bottomless fissures.

And in the center of this sea, a massive Abyssal Rift stretched across the water’s surface, as if the very world had been split open by a god’s Giant Sword. From time to time, Abyssal Demonic Qi would erupt from the rift, dyeing the surrounding seawater a bizarre, inky black.
