Chapter 145: Resume Training Session

The morning sun of Sector 12 crested the jagged permafrost mountains, casting a brilliant, crystalline glow across the valley.

Inside the bamboo estate, the tranquil silence was absolute, broken only by the distant, rhythmic rushing of the blue mana-waterfall.

Leon Wes opened his eyes, the dual-colored irises adjusting instantly to the soft light filtering through the paper windows.

He lay perfectly still on the woven silk sheets, listening to the deep, steady breathing of the woman resting beside him.

Snow Valestorm was fast asleep, her face buried comfortably against his shoulder, her white hair splayed wildly across his chest.

She looked entirely at peace, completely drained of the fierce, unyielding adrenaline that usually defined her every waking moment.

Leon carefully shifted his weight, moving with microscopic precision to avoid disturbing her hard-earned rest.

He slipped out from under the covers, his bare feet touching the polished bamboo floorboards without making a single sound.

The chill of the morning air brushed against his heavily scarred, flawlessly muscled torso, but he barely registered the temperature.

He walked silently through the short hallway and slid open the door to the bathing chamber.

The room was already filled with a thick, comforting steam, the carved stone basin continuously supplied by the geothermal vents beneath the estate.

Leon stepped into the tub, sinking slowly until the hot water reached his collarbones.

He closed his eyes, resting the back of his head against the smooth stone, completely surrendering to the profound, ambient heat.

His biological framework did not require recovery. His cells were permanently sustained in a state of flawless, infinite optimization.

But the heat of the water was a sensory anchor, a quiet luxury that helped silence the relentless, tactical calculations humming in his mind.

He sat there for a long time, allowing the steam to clear the lingering fog of yesterday’s violent encounters and the heavy, intoxicating memories of the night.

When the water finally began to cool, Leon rose from the basin, his skin radiating a faint, golden sheen of vitality.

He dried himself with a soft towel and summoned his dark, gold-embroidered draconic garb from his spatial inventory.

The heavy fabric wrapped seamlessly around his frame, settling perfectly over his broad shoulders as he tied the dark sash at his waist.

He stepped out of the bathing chamber, immediately picking up a rich, sweet aroma drifting up from the lower level of the estate.

It smelled of caramelized sugar, warm spices, and the crisp, unmistakable tang of baked Sun Apples.

Leon descended the wooden stairs, his silent footfalls carrying him into the main living area.

Snow was already awake, standing by the mahogany counter in her signature black leather shorts and crop top.

Her white hair was tied back in a messy braid, and she was humming a light, upbeat tune as she arranged a pair of wooden plates.

"Good morning, husband," Snow chimed without turning around, her elevated senses having easily picked up his approach.

She spun around, flashing him a bright, radiant smile that completely illuminated the room.

In her hands was a beautiful, meticulously baked cake, its surface glazed with the crystallized sap she had harvested from the village merchants.

"I know you said you don’t actually need to eat," Snow teased, setting the plates down on the low table.

"But you also said you missed chocolate cake. I still can’t find cocoa, but I caramelized this one until it’s practically humming with sugar."

Leon walked over to the table, a deep, genuine warmth softening his usually imposing, stoic features.

"It smells incredible, Snow," he said, taking a seat on the woven silk cushion across from her.

Snow beamed with pride, grabbing a silver knife and cutting two generous slices of the dense, spiced cake.

She slid a plate toward him, resting her chin on her hands as she eagerly waited for his verdict.

Leon picked up the wooden fork and took a bite.

The cake was exceptionally rich, the crystallized sap melting perfectly with the tart, magical vitality of the Sun Apples.

It wasn’t chocolate, but the sheer effort and affection poured into the meal made it infinitely better than anything he could remember from his past life.

"Flawless," Leon murmured, taking another deliberate bite. "The Dragonkin bakers could learn a great deal from your technique."

Snow laughed, a bright, musical sound, and began to eat her own slice with far less restraint.

They sat together in comfortable silence, the morning light fully illuminating the meticulously repaired walls of their sanctuary.

As she finished her cake, Snow leaned back, stretching her arms high above her head with a contented sigh.

Her muscles flexed smoothly under her pale skin, humming with the terrifying, unspent vitality of her recent level-up to fifty-one.

She dropped her arms and looked across the table, her blue eyes narrowing with a familiar, competitive spark.

"You know," Snow began casually, tapping her fingers against the mahogany table.

"We were so busy hunting those shadow-beasts and dealing with that massive rhino yesterday that we skipped our usual routine."

Leon raised an eyebrow, setting his empty plate aside. "Our routine?"

"We haven’t trained for a while now," Snow pointed out, a fierce, eager grin stretching across her face.

"I leveled up yesterday. I feel completely different. My physical output is terrifying right now, and I need to test it with you."

Leon looked at her, understanding the absolute necessity of her request.

She was right. The sudden influx of raw stats from jumping to the Mid-Adept tier could make her own body feel foreign and unwieldy.

If she swung her weapon with her old muscle memory, she might overextend and leave a fatal opening during a real engagement.

"You want to test the new boundaries of your foundation," Leon stated, his tone shifting back to the cold, analytical cadence of her instructor.

"Exactly," Snow nodded, pushing herself up from the table. "I need to know exactly how much faster I am before we head back into the wild."

Leon stood up, his towering frame casting a long shadow across the bamboo floorboards.

"Then we will spar," Leon agreed effortlessly, gesturing toward the sliding doors leading to the backyard.

Snow didn’t need to be told twice. She bolted for the door, practically vibrating with unspent kinetic energy.

Leon followed her out onto the polished wooden porch, stepping down into the vibrant, damp grass of the secluded clearing.

The rushing roar of the blue mana-waterfall immediately filled the air, providing a chaotic, rhythmic backdrop for their impending clash.

Snow walked to the opposite end of the clearing, her boots leaving shallow imprints in the soft earth.

She swiped her hand through the air, instantaneously materializing her massive, silver buster sword.

The door-sized weapon looked absurdly heavy, yet she gripped it with both hands and rested it on her shoulder as if it were made of light timber.

Because of her unique forging talent, the weapon was inherently scaled to a base strength far beyond her own level, making it a catastrophic tool of destruction.

Leon stood thirty feet away, remaining perfectly relaxed in the center of the grass.

He raised his right hand and summoned a standard, non-magical void-steel longsword from his inventory.

He did not draw his Legendary axe or his Mythic blade. The sheer conceptual weight of those weapons would instantly end the spar.

He dropped into a loose, single-handed guard, his dual-colored eyes locking onto his wife’s fierce stance.

He silently capped his own physical output, throttling his Steadfast-tier speed and strength down to roughly forty-five percent.

He needed to push her harder than he had two days ago, but he still needed to leave enough of a gap for her to actually read his movements.

"I am not holding back as much today, Snow," Leon warned quietly, though his voice carried perfectly over the rushing water.

"I wouldn’t want it any other way, baby," Snow grinned, dropping her center of gravity low.

Without another word of warning, Snow exploded forward.
