Ten Lucky Draws: I Got Ten SSS-Rank Talents!
Chapter 124: Aerial Ember-Gorgons
The pale sun of Sector 12 finally dipped below the jagged, towering peaks of the permafrost mountains, plunging the Azure Scale valley into a deep, tranquil twilight. The transition from day to evening in Eternal Heaven was always a dramatic shift. As the natural sunlight faded, the vibrant, bioluminescent flora of the region flared to life, painting the shadows with soft, glowing hues of cyan, violet, and gold.
Inside the quiet sanctuary of the bamboo estate, the bedroom was bathed in a gentle, warm luminescence bleeding through the windows.
Leon Wes opened his dual-colored eyes. He lay on his back, staring up at the woven wooden ceiling. Beside him, tangled in the cool silk sheets, Snow Valestorm slept peacefully. Her long, white hair cascaded across his chest, and her rhythmic breathing brushed warmly against his collarbone.
Leon didn’t feel a trace of fatigue. His SSS-Rank Aura of the Undying and his Perfect Body talent had long since purged any physical exhaustion from his system, perpetually regenerating his cellular structure and keeping his body razor-sharp.
He carefully shifted his weight, moving with microscopic precision to avoid waking her. He slid out from under the heavy silk sheets, his bare feet touching the polished bamboo floor without making a single sound.
Despite his stealth, the sudden absence of his immense warmth caused Snow to stir. She let out a soft, sleepy murmur, her hand blindly reaching out across the mattress to find him. Her fingers grasped empty air, and her crystalline blue eyes fluttered open, squinting against the dim evening light.
"Leon?" Snow mumbled, pushing herself up onto her elbows. The silk sheet slipped down, exposing her bare shoulders. "Where are you going?"
Leon paused, turning back toward the bed. He walked over, leaning down to press a soft, lingering kiss against her forehead.
"I am heading out," Leon replied, his voice a low, soothing rumble in the quiet room.
Snow blinked the sleep from her eyes, a faint, knowing smile touching her lips. She reached up, lazily tracing the edge of his jawline with her fingertips. "The usual monster search?"
"Yes," Leon confirmed.
Over the past several days, this had become his established routine. With the traditional leveling system closed to him until the barrier to Sector 11 fell, Leon had dedicated time to aggressive strikes across the unexplored territories of Sector 12.
He was deliberately hunting rare, elite monsters, utilizing his SSS-Rank Talent Devourer to extract their innate talents, expanding his arsenal of skills. He was treating the ecosystem of the Adept region as a vast, open-air library, and he was archiving every lethal trait he could find into his own framework.
"You’re a machine, baby," Snow sighed affectionately, letting her hand fall back to the mattress. She pulled the sheets up over her chest, snuggling deeper into the pillows. "Don’t stay out all night. You promised we would spar again in the morning."
"I will be back before dawn," Leon promised. "Rest, Snow. You earned it."
He stepped away from the bed and moved to the corner of the room, quickly donning his gear. The dark, gold-embroidered draconic fabric of his attire settled over his frame.
He then secured the Sovereign’s Mantle around his shoulders, letting the heavy, shadow-silk fabric drape elegantly down his back. Finally, he summoned his primary armaments from his spatial inventory. He secured the Mythic Blade of the Dragon God across his back, and clipped the sleek, dark haft of his Legendary axe, Epitaph, to his hip.
Fully armed, the aura of the gentle, attentive husband completely vanished, replaced by the cold, calculating, and absolute presence of a Steadfast Ranked Player.
Leon slid the bedroom door shut and descended the wooden stairs, stepping out onto the porch of the estate.
The cool evening air rushed over him, carrying the sharp scent of pine and the heavy, ambient ozone of the rushing blue mana-waterfall. He reached out with his soul-sense, projecting a single, silent command across the valley.
A moment later, the sky above the clearing darkened.
Auris, the Glacial Sovereign, descended from the high thermal currents. The Level 100 High-Dragon landed gracefully in the tall grass, his massive void-steel armor plating completely silent despite the staggering weight. The beast’s cyan eyes glowed brightly in the twilight, reflecting the bioluminescent flora of the valley.
Auris then let out a low, vibrating rumble of anticipation, sensing the predatory intent radiating from his master.
"We are heading east tonight, Auris," Leon commanded, vaulting effortlessly over the porch railing.
His 265 Agility carried him through the air in a frictionless glide, landing perfectly in the saddle area at the base of the dragon’s heavily armored neck. He secured his boots against the jagged void-steel plating, rolling his shoulders as the familiar, immense power of his bonded beast hummed beneath him.
Auris roared, a sound that shook the very bedrock of the valley, and launched them violently into the evening sky.
The initial ascent was blindingly fast. Auris’s Void-Piercer Wings ignited with brilliant, streaking aether-magic, cutting through the atmospheric drag and propelling them high above the cloud layer.
Leon directed the dragon toward the far eastern edge of Sector 12, a region he had largely ignored during his daytime excursions. The eastern boundary was characterized by towering, jagged spires of obsidian rock that pierced the clouds like the teeth of a dead god. The ambient mana in this region was notoriously volatile, prone to sudden, catastrophic atmospheric storms.
As they flew deeper into the eastern airspace, the environment began to aggressively shift. The cool, refreshing air of the evening was abruptly replaced by a suffocating, blistering heat. The cloud cover around them didn’t look like standard water vapor; it was thick, churning, and laced with dark, sulfuric ash.
Leon’s Origin Eyes flared with golden light, cutting through the dense, ashen fog.
"Atmospheric thermal spike detected," Leon analyzed, feeling the sudden wave of heat wash over his body. His passive talent immediately kicked in, mitigating the ambient elemental damage and converting the residual heat into a steady, pulsing flow of stamina. "We have crossed into a new area."
Auris let out a sharp, warning hiss, his massive sapphire scales radiating a localized aura of absolute-zero frost to combat the encroaching heat.
Suddenly, the dense ash clouds directly in front of them violently parted.
Ding!
