Chapter 178: The Serpent’s Lullaby (2)

Chapter 178: The Serpent’s Lullaby (2)

“NOW SONNA!” Thalion exclaimed as he disengaged with his opponent.

The moment he did, darkness and flames twisted behind the four-armed brute—shadows coiling like living smoke—and Vaeloria appeared swinging her blade at his head powered with laws, silver aura trailing in a lethal arc.

Nia appeared slicing at his lower half as flames caused space to twist a bit—obsidian-black fire roaring outward in hungry tongues.

SHKK! SHKK!!!!

In an instant the fifth calamity brute fell—head severed clean, torso collapsing in a spray of blood and shattered armor, body hitting the ground with a wet thud that sent ripples through the mud.

Then Sonna dove into action as Nia and Vaeloria shot off in separate directions.

This had been planned for a while now and it was no need to talk. Nia went to engage Sonna’s opponent while Vaeloria moved to defend the stronghold —her sword carving a protective arc through incoming attackers, doing her all to hold on.

The serpent was only moments from crashing onto the battlefield… its massive coils blotting out the sky, jaws wide in silent hunger, musical venom dripping in purple rain that broke minds on contact.

Sonna’s voice bloomed as she floated in the skies with her long white hair billowing behind her like a banner of moonlight, wings spread wide in full span. Her blueish-red eyes shone brightly…

In that moment, it felt like she was the only figure among thousands, standing right at the entrance of the serpent’s mouth—small against its vastness, yet exuding a presence so strong it made the entire battlefield hold its breath for a single, suspended heartbeat..

In her hand appeared a harp as well… and not the divine ranked one like the weapons they’d been using so far. She summoned her custom-made Paragon Harp created by Ash himself.

The moment it appeared it was as if the realm held its breath—the harp’s frame carved from translucent rose-pink crystal that caught every light source and refracted it into soft, dreamlike rainbows, strings of pure silver moonlight stretched taut across it, humming faintly with latent power even before she touched them.

Charm, Illusions, Dreams, Sound all exploded out in droves—waves of soft violet and silver light rippling outward, washing over the battlefield like a gentle tide that carried whispers of forgotten lullabies.

She then acted quickly casting two Calamity Laws at once.

Calamity Law – Requiem of Eternal Serenity

Calamity Law – Lullaby of Unbreakable Slumber

The moment these two activated a peaceful feeling spread all over the battlefield. Foes and allies alike found themselves constantly being pulled into peaceful dreams… only to find themselves back fighting amongst one another.

The Serpent faltered but its motion didn’t stop—coils shuddering, jaws trembling as serenity tried to seep into its very essence, forcing the raging storm of sound and emotion to slow, to quiet, to sleep.

“Shit…” Sonna muttered seeing her moments away from collision she began to move yet again. She summoned an artifact and activated a skill.

The Requiem Dream String was a delicate silver chain that seemed woven from moonlight and spider silk—thin enough to vanish when held at certain angles, yet unbreakable once bound.

When Sonna laid it across her harp strings, the chain shimmered and multiplied, sending thousands of illusory threads outward in a vast web that draped the sky like a silver veil. It amplified binding illusions beyond belief, turning simple suggestions into unbreakable chains of dream, compelling even the strongest wills to accept the illusion as truth.

The moment it activated, the battlefield plunged into absolute peace—enemies froze mid-swing, eyes glazing over as they saw visions of tranquil meadows, loving families, forgotten paradises; weapons dropped from limp hands, auras dimmed to gentle glows, the roar of battle replaced by soft, distant wind chimes and lullabies that echoed from nowhere.

Then she activated her defensive skill.

Melody of the Unseen Shield

Sonna plucked a single, pure note on her Paragon Harp—clear, resonant, heartbreakingly beautiful. The sound wave expanded outward in a dome of soft silver light—translucent, shimmering, wrapping around her in a perfect sphere.

The shield didn’t block with force; it simply refused to acknowledge harm—attacks passed through harmlessly, illusions folding around the intruder like water around a stone, redirecting intent back upon itself.

It was a defense born of pure melody—anything that sought to harm her found only serenity and dreams, turning aggression into gentle sleep.

BOOOOOM!!!!

Yet… even with all of that, the serpent crashed onto Sonna… with the power of thousands instantly cracking her shield as she took the brunt of the damage—silver light shattering in brilliant fragments, sound waves exploding outward in a deafening ring that knocked back attackers and defenders alike.

BOOOM!

Sonna was hurled downward—body tumbling through the air, wings folding from the impact, blood trailing in a rose-pink arc as she crashed into the ground below… carving a crater in the earth, dust and debris billowing upward in a choking cloud.

Yonna’s eyes widened seeing Sonna fly crashing down to the ground.

“SISTER!” She exclaimed as she knocked her opponent backwards—blade flashing in a silver arc that sent the enemy spinning—dashing towards Sonna with desperate speed.

Thalion frowned as his calculations were off a bit… But before he could even calculate again…

BOOOM!!!!

Seris could be seen crashing into the stronghold as well.

As Zeth appeared above her with a manifestation of a blind figure behind him draped in robes with a single finger pointed in Seris’s direction.

The figure was massive as his face nearly exceeded the clouds—featureless except for empty sockets where eyes should be, body formed of swirling gray nothingness that absorbed light and sound alike.

All Things Null

The entire battlefield turned grey for a moment as a beam of pure null shot towards Seris—silent, inevitable, erasing color, sound, and existence in its path.
