Technique God: Path to Godhood
Chapter 8: She’s Real!
After Aaron knocked, almost immediately, the whispers in Damien’s room disappeared, and the room responded with utter silence.
?Aaron’s eyes narrowed.
?Not wanting the mysterious girl to suddenly disappear again, Aaron forcefully pushed the door open without waiting for an answer and was greeted with the sight of Damien’s sweaty, exhausted body sitting on the floor of his cramped, dimly lit room. There were used, dirty, empty plates scattered around him and a very stunned look on his face.
?Ignoring his brother’s shock, Aaron glanced around the room, and his eyes widened slightly in surprise.
?Sitting not far away from Damien was a disheveled, red-haired girl in worn-out clothes. Her mouth was full as she continued to chew aggressively without really paying Aaron any attention. She just spared him a quick glance and continued chewing.
?Aaron, however, continued to ignore the extreme shock on Damien’s tired face and stared intently at the red-haired girl.
?She looked wild.
?No, she looked feral...
?Almost like she had just walked out of a cave.
?She had a pretty face. But to Aaron, her unrefined appearance made her look scarier than pretty. And putting her feral and wild presence aside, she had scarlet eyes that were filled with unbridled insanity but, at the same time, carried a hint of real intelligence.
?As if noticing that Aaron’s unrelenting gaze was still on her, she spared him another glance.
?But this time around, it lingered.
?The insanity in her eyes suddenly disappeared, and she studied him back inquisitively for a long moment.
?Then, as if realizing something, her expression relaxed and switched from curiosity to disinterest.
?Keeping a dispassionate gaze on Aaron, she addressed Damien, breaking the silence:
?"You were right. The girl actually told her brother."
?Aaron raised an eyebrow.
?Compared to her looks, she actually had a soft, soothing voice. One more appealing than every girl’s voice he had ever heard since he reincarnated.
?Damien, meanwhile, whipped his head from Aaron’s direction and turned to the red-haired girl.
?"Why didn’t you lock the door after you came in?"
?The redhead shrugged.
?"I thought I did. Maybe because my hands were filled with the plates of food."
?Damien frowned and turned back to Aaron.
?"You’re very lucky I’m weak right now. I would have knocked out five of your teeth already."
?Seeing that Aaron wasn’t really paying him any attention, Damien’s frown deepened.
?"I am talking to you, FOOL. Leave this room this instant!" Damien growled.
?Aaron finally took his gaze off the girl and eyed Damien. He did not know what his brother had been up to, but he knew his brother was truly weak. And judging from the demented and pained look on Damien’s face, Aaron knew his brother was wishing so badly that he could move so he’d truly knock out his undeveloped teeth.
?’Like he did when I was five. Who knows... That really might have been deliberate.’
?Aaron smiled and walked further into the room.
?"If I don’t take advantage of your weakness to know what’s truly going on, then I really am a fool."
?Damien growled in anger.
?"I’d scream and report to Susan."
?Aaron raised an eyebrow.
?’Reporting me to my mom? That’s dirty, DamDam.’
?"Well... you can scream. At least, I am not the one hiding a girl in his room." Aaron shrugged.
?The redhead swallowed what she was chewing and spared Damien a glance.
?"Yeah... Damien, uhh, we wouldn’t want that. Let’s just come to a compromise with him like we did with the girl."
?"No!" Damien rejected flatly.
?He gave Aaron a side glance.
?"He’s different from her. He’s... He’s stupid and very hard to reason with."
?Aaron shot him a look of disapproval.
?"Hey, Big Brother, isn’t that a little too much? We are in front of your girlfriend here. At least vouch for me a little bit."
?Damien held his gaze with pure spite written all over his face.
?"I’d prefer if you just kill him and dispose of his body."
?Aaron’s eyes widened in utter shock, dumbfounded.
?’You... You wicked little shit!’
?However, Damien wasn’t done talking. He turned to the red-haired girl and added:
?"Everyone’s asleep. You can easily do it quickly."
?He gave Aaron a resentful glare.
?"And noiselessly, too."
?Aaron immediately shifted his gaze to the bored-looking girl—who was still chewing loudly.
?He could not really sense her strength, but somehow, he knew he couldn’t best her in combat. If she wanted him dead, she could truly kill him in less than a minute.
?Aaron’s face hardened.
?He clenched his fist, prepared to defend himself, but the girl just swallowed, leaned her back against the wall, and said in a tired tone:
?"I’m not killing anyone, Damien. Just tell your brother to leave."
?Damien sharply whipped his head in her direction with an expression of pure shock.
?"What! You said you’d always do what I requested."
?The redhead was silent for a few moments, then slowly shook her head.
?"Not this request, Damien."
?Aaron observed both of them quietly.
?’Seems she’s not as heartless as she looks.’
?After a few seconds of silence, he worked up his courage and walked toward the girl, who still sat on the floor with her back against the wall.
?As he approached, she casually kept her eyes on him, giving him a guarded, warning look.
?But Aaron ignored it.
?He got to the corner of the room where she sat and crouched directly in front of her to make their heads level.
?The girl frowned at him, but again, he courageously ignored it.
?Aaron took a quick glance at Damien—who was watching them in confusion—and turned his attention back to the girl.
?He studied her silently for a few moments as he thought of the best way to confirm if she truly was from Earth, then he remembered...
?’The Game!’
?Meanwhile, the girl sighed and began in a bored tone.
?"Uhmm... Can you not tell your family you saw me here?"
?Aaron quietly observed her without responding.
?She held his gaze uncertainly for a few seconds, then continued:
?"...because... It would be really inconvenient for me if you do—"
?"Have you heard of... Zagadat Sorcery?" Aaron suddenly interrupted in a different language.
?The girl suddenly froze, and her usual mask of nonchalance completely disappeared.
?Before Aaron could blink, she had disappeared from his sight.
?Less than two seconds later, he heard a loud thud behind him.
?He froze for a moment , then his eyes widened slightly in realization.
?Without wasting any time, he stood upright and immediately turned around to defend himself, but paused when he saw the girl gently dropping Damien’s unconscious body on the ground.
