Chapter 909: Chapter 907: “Nothing

“Bin asked me to tell you that they’re moving in the early hours this Saturday, and he wants to invite you all to come along, but he feels too embarrassed to ask.”

“That’s it?” Mo Jingchun rolled his eyes. He’d thought it was something unspeakable that he couldn’t bring himself to say.

The next second, Zhou Yaling fiddled with her fingers and said shyly, “No, there’s one more thing.”

“What is it?”

Mo Jingchun and Li Xuanyu both looked at Zhou Yaling curiously.

“I’m planning to move into the new place with Bin next month.”

Seeing how embarrassed Zhou Yaling looked, Mo Jingchun didn’t think anything of it. They’d already got their marriage certificate; what was there to be shy about?

“Sounds good. When the time comes just have Bin drive over to pick you up. You’ve got so much stuff, three carloads might still not be enough to haul it all.”

The lack of the expected resistance actually made Zhou Yaling feel a bit out of sorts.

“What kind of expression is that? It’s not like we’re kicking you out. If you feel like coming back to stay a few days some time, you’re always welcome. That room of yours—no one’s going to take it over.”

“You’re keeping my room for me?” Zhou Yaling was a little surprised and delighted.

“Yeah, keeping it.”

“Hahaha, great.”

………

Two days later, Friday night, after doing homework for an hour, Candy was getting ready to watch a bit of TV and then go to bed.

But when she went downstairs, Candy found that her brother, sister-in-law, and sister were still watching TV!

How was that fair? They’d agreed that on Friday and Saturday nights, the TV belonged to her.

“I want to watch cartoons!”

The three of them turned in sync to look at Candy standing there with her hands on her hips, then turned back in sync and continued watching the movie.

“We agreed that on Friday and Saturday nights, the TV is mine.”

At that, Mo Jingchun said casually, “I suggest you go sleep for a bit now. We’re heading out in three hours.”

Candy froze.

Heading out in three hours?

Wouldn’t three hours later be eleven at night? She didn’t even need to count on her fingers to know.

But what were they going out for in the middle of the night?

“Are we going out for barbecue? It’s fine, we can come back and sleep after we eat.”

Thinking about barbecue later, Candy rubbed her little hands excitedly, really looking forward to it.

But the next second, Mo Jingchun said blandly, “What barbecue? Are you treating? If you’re treating, we can consider going for barbecue.”

So it wasn’t barbecue… Candy was confused. If they weren’t having barbecue, what were they going out for in the middle of the night?

At this moment, Zhou Yaling said with a smile, “We’re going to my new place later, moving at midnight.”

“Moving? Nobody told me.”

“Probably forgot. That’s what you get for not finishing your homework earlier. When your sister was talking about it you weren’t downstairs.”

After hearing her brother, Candy was dumbfounded.

Was this a homework issue? They’d clearly just forgotten to tell her! And her brother was even trying to make excuses.

So annoying!

“I want to watch cartoons!”

“Watch them tomorrow.”

“No way!”

Mo Jingchun glanced at the fuming Candy and said calmly, “Then we’ll put it to a vote.”

“All in favor of watching the movie, raise your hand.”

As soon as he said that, the three of them raised their hands in perfect sync, leaving Candy staring, dumbfounded, in disbelief.

Her sister and sister-in-law were actually ganging up with her brother.

“Alright, three votes in favor, one abstention, we keep watching the movie.”

Candy: “???”

When had she abstained? She herself had no idea.

But it didn’t seem like voting against would help either.

Thinking about it now, being little had been better. If they wouldn’t let her watch, she’d just cry, make a fuss, and threaten to hang herself—worked every time.

If that still didn’t work, she had her ultimate move: acting cute.

There was nothing one “Guoguo loves you” couldn’t fix. But now it didn’t work anymore; her brother was completely impervious.

With a sigh, Candy helplessly sat down on the sofa.

Over ten minutes later, Candy realized the movie was actually pretty good.

………

When the movie ended, Candy still hadn’t had enough.

“Bro, put on another disaster movie.”

Hearing that, Mo Jingchun couldn’t help finding it funny. “Weren’t you insisting on cartoons? How come you suddenly want to watch movies with us?”

Candy laughed sheepishly. “Movies are actually pretty good too.”

Mo Jingchun curled his lip and didn’t reply, and had Zero put on another big disaster film.

Three hours passed unknowingly as the two movies played.

When the second movie ended, Mo Jingchun raised his hand and checked the time. “Let’s go, time to head out. It’s not good if we arrive too late. Don’t want the older generation talking.”

Standing up beside him, Zhou Yaling couldn’t help rolling her eyes. People could barely suck up to him fast enough; who would dare talk.

Even if they had opinions, they wouldn’t be stupid enough to say them out loud.

The new apartment that Zhou Yaling and Qian Zhubin had bought wasn’t very far from Mo Jingchun’s place. Even walking only took about twenty minutes.

Driving, they got there in no time.

At the door, Candy rang the bell and then took a few steps back.

After a short wait, someone pushed the door open.

Seeing Mo Jingchun and the others, Qian Zhubin hurriedly greeted them with a big smile.

“Come in and sit, it’s still early.”

Sitting on a little kitten-shaped stool and holding a cup of tea, Candy listened to the adults chat with wide, curious eyes.

“Bin, in a bit you and your wife drive around for a bit, then go to the ATM and withdraw some money. Remember to bring a broom and dustpan, and sweep that whole area around the ATM more, bring the dust back.”

Hearing the elder’s instructions, Mo Jingchun and Li Xuanyu exchanged a look and kept quiet.

Everyone’s customs were different; it wasn’t their place to say anything.

But was this supposed to mean “gathering wealth”? Sounded like it.

“Huh? I’m going too?” Zhou Yaling looked totally lost.

“Of course you are. You and Bin just focus on going to withdraw the money, leave things here to us. When you come back with the money, you can move into the new place, and we’ll carry all the stuff at the door over to the new home one by one.”

Hearing there’d be things to carry, Candy immediately perked up.

On the way in, Candy had already noticed the little goldfish bowl by the door. She’d carry the little goldfish later.

She’d even picked out the auspicious phrase she’d say: “May you have fish every year.”

After Qian Zhubin and Zhou Yaling left, the atmosphere inside instantly became less natural than before.

Everyone knew who Mo Jingchun was. Even though he was technically Qian Zhubin’s older cousin, they were still very restrained around him.

Especially Qian Zhubin’s parents, who were forcing themselves to make small talk with Mo Jingchun.

They’d toss out a random comment here and there, and right now, every minute felt like a year.

Taking advantage of a lull in the conversation, Candy walked over to her brother, leaned close to his ear, and whispered, “Bro, can I carry that little fish tank later?”

Hearing that, Mo Jingchun looked at the slightly expectant Candy and whispered back, “We’ll see what they arrange. This isn’t our house.”

“Oh.”

“What are you two talking about?” Li Xuanyu asked curiously.

Mo Jingchun and Candy shook their heads in unison and said, “Nothing.”
