Chapter 906: Chapter 904: Never Doubted Their Existence

When it was quitting time, even at Candy Technology, where the employee benefits were excellent, everyone was most enthusiastic about clocking out.

There’s a saying: if you’re not eager to leave work, there must be something wrong with your head.

At Candy Technology, the best part is probably that when it’s time to go, no leader will say you can’t leave.

Why? Because some leaders leave even faster than the employees.

As employees walked in groups of threes and twos to the cafeteria or back to the dormitory, they passed through the lobby and were surprised to find Zero looking dispirited at the entrance.

Wait a minute, there’s something different about Zero today.

It seems taller.

Can a robot grow taller? Clearly not. The only explanation is that Zero has a new body.

This prompted some people to glance at Zero a few more times, but that’s all it was—just a few extra glances.

In Zero’s eyes, the gazes of these folks felt like watching monkeys, naturally putting it in a bad mood.

Pouting, Zero thought to itself: The boss is really something, saying there’s no way nobody doesn’t recognize it, yet the boss still wouldn’t believe.

Suddenly, Zero’s eyes lit up, and it left the spot with a bright smile.

Just now, the boss announced that the face-recognition task ended early.

In the office, Mo Jingchun, Candy, Li Xuanyu, and Zhou Yaling sat around the coffee table.

Mo Jingchun and the other two chatted and laughed while watching Candy brew tea.

They weren’t employing child labor; today, Candy had voluntarily offered to take on the task of brewing tea.

In Mo Jingchun’s view, Candy finds brewing tea fun, like playing with mud as a child, treating it as a form of enjoyment.

After all, brewing tea is just for enjoyment, isn’t it? Otherwise, why not just use a thermos to make tea—it’s more convenient.

Taking a sip of tea brewed personally by Candy, Li Xuanyu praised without holding back, “It tastes really good, better than your brother’s.”

For kids, a compliment is the biggest encouragement.

And sure enough, Candy was overjoyed, becoming even more enthusiastic about brewing tea.

Watching Candy work so diligently, Mo Jingchun and the other two exchanged glances, sharing an unspoken smile.

At this moment, Zero pushed the office door open and walked in, complaining as it walked, “Boss, I told you people would definitely recognize me, but you didn’t believe me.”

Speaking, Zero sighed and said with a hint of bad luck, “Boss, you haven’t seen those people’s gazes; those gazes are like watching monkeys.”

“Hahaha, are you the monkey?” Upon hearing Zero’s description, Candy couldn’t help but burst out laughing.

Her body shook from laughter, and even the water in the cup spilled out.

“Ow, that’s hot.”

Almost instantly, Candy placed the cup down.

Looking at her reddened fingertip, Candy felt despondent. She wished she hadn’t laughed at Zero, but unfortunately, there was no “what if,” nor any way to know beforehand.

Mo Jingchun glanced over and said, “Not bad, you didn’t get a blister. It’s a small issue; go rinse it under cold water in the washroom for a bit and it’ll be fine.”

After Candy ran into the bedroom, Mo Jingchun picked up his teacup and blew on it, asking, “How’s the overall inspection and testing for the Candy space shuttle going?”

Talking business, Zero became serious and answered earnestly, “Everything’s proceeding according to plan. Theoretically, we can top up the energy and proceed with a launch at any time.”

“However, that’s just theoretically; considering real-world circumstances, for our Candy space shuttle to take off, we first need to apply to relevant departments to report the flight’s airspace and timing. Otherwise, it’ll be automatically identified as an unidentified flying object by military recognition systems and subject to military strikes.”

Zero spoke with a straight face, but Mo Jingchun and the other two’s expressions remained unchanged.

Aside from a few small countries, most countries don’t offer airspace for use on demand.

Especially domestically, the airspace is entirely under the control of the air force.

“The space agency’s been pretty active lately, right?”

Zero nodded and said admiringly, “To say the least, their actions are astonishing. They’ve actually sent the Wentian shuttle back into space the day after. Based on information shared by the space agency, they plan to conduct Earth-Moon flights and even transport materials fully loaded—they really dare.”

Upon hearing this, Mo Jingchun’s mouth twitched. To be honest, even he wouldn’t dare to mess around with a space shuttle like that.

The design of a space shuttle was initially for repeated use, also supporting ample energy to take off anytime, that’s true.

But Wentian is the first space shuttle, yet hasn’t undergone the test of time.

Could such antics really not lead to problems? Mo Jingchun didn’t feel confident.

Sitting quietly to the side, Li Xuanyu and Zhou Yaling didn’t speak. They weren’t familiar with the shuttle’s performance and had little to add.

Scratching his head, Mo Jingchun said with a worried expression, “It can’t be, the Wentian is our flagship; at least for a short period, no issues can arise.”

“You should talk to the space agency, say that as the chief engineer of the shuttle, I advise against frequent takeoffs initially to prevent metal fatigue.”

But Zero looked at Mo Jingchun with an odd expression.

Slowly saying, “But boss, will the space agency heed your advice? I don’t know why, but I feel the space agency is crazily testing the Wentian precisely to run it into obsolescence.”

For a moment, the air was still. Mo Jingchun paused for quite a while before asking disbelievingly, “Are you suggesting that they want it broken so they can dismantle it?”

Zero nodded, “That’s exactly it.”

“Impossible, who says dismantling it will allow reverse engineering of the technology? Moreover… the Wentian is worth a fortune—could they really bear to?”

“Forget it, let’s not dwell on it. You just offer your suggestion to the space agency. As for the rest, it’s beyond us and out of our control.”

Emerging from the washroom, Candy shook the water off her hand with some curiosity about what her brother meant by being unable to control or manage certain issues.

Just as she was about to ask, her brother spoke again.

“Zero, let’s set Wentian aside for now. Apply for airspace immediately; once the military approves, we’ll let the Candy take off.”

“The Moon, huh? If there’s a chance, we ought to go up there for a look too.”

After all these years, Mo Jingchun has never forgotten the enormous blank spot captured in those lunar images taken by Zero with a remote sensing satellite years ago.

Especially given the ongoing mysterious activities on the Moon, Mo Jingchun is increasingly convinced there are discoveries to be made there.

Mo Jingchun has never doubted the existence of aliens.

Not in the past, not now, and not in the future.

The existence of this system is the best proof of aliens; otherwise, how do you explain those selected technologies and tangible prizes?

As for why human civilization never discovered extraterrestrial civilizations, Mo Jingchun firmly believes in the Dark Forest theory: every civilization is both a hunter and prey in the dark.

Watching Mo Jingchun staring blankly, lost in thought, everyone understood the silence and refrained from disturbing him.

After a long while, Mo Jingchun came to and smiled slightly.

“Come on, let’s go home, it’s almost dark.”
