Tech Dominator Starts with Raising Kids
Chapter 821 - 819: "Is That Right!
"September?"
"Got it."
The airport ground hardening couldn’t be rushed, and Mo Jingchun knew that very clearly.
On top of that, with a long way to go before the space shuttle would be ready, the Anyang Base airport project wasn’t exactly urgent.
With Su Wenyan holding down the fort over there, Mo Jingchun believed she’d arrange everything properly.
July was scorching hot, but inside Candy Technology Park the air was full of birdsong and flowers; the excellent greenery coverage had the birds choosing it again as a place to perch or rest while passing through.
With the cicadas buzzing away on top of that, Candy Technology Park was buzzing with life in every sense.
After catching up on sleep with a nap, Candy felt completely refreshed.
Nothing like that morning, when her whole body felt weak and she didn’t even feel like talking.
Yawning as she walked out of the bedroom, Candy immediately spotted her brother occupying her usual homework spot.
"Bro, what time is it? My stomach feels like it’s already protesting."
At that, Mo Jingchun curled his lip; the watch was right there on his wrist—he didn’t believe for a second that Candy hadn’t sneaked a look when she woke up.
Asking the time was fake; wanting to say her stomach was protesting was the real deal.
Royal translation: "I’m hungry, I want to eat."
"Snacks or no snacks doesn’t matter, I mainly just want a proper meal."
After tidying up the desk a bit, Mo Jingchun picked up his phone and said with a smile:
"Then what are we waiting for? Big bro will take you for a big bowl of rice."
With Candy’s face full of tangled hesitation, Mo Jingchun was already pulling her by the hand out the door.
Say go and we go; serious eaters don’t dawdle.
After a big bowl of white rice went down, Candy’s little tummy rounded right up.
"These chestnuts are so good."
"Then we’ll pack some up and take them home, and tonight your sister can make you braised pork with chestnuts."
"Okay!" Candy nodded vigorously.
On their way back from the cafeteria, Candy was carrying a black plastic bag, and every employee they passed couldn’t help shooting curious looks her way.
But it was just curiosity; no one was stupid enough to run up and ask what exactly was inside that black plastic bag.
Leaving aside Candy’s status, even with regular people, unless you’re really close, nobody’s going to walk up just because they’re curious and ask.
If they do, there’s a high chance something’s off in their brain circuitry.
Besides, in this little patch of land that is Candy Science and Technology Park, the most curiosity-inducing place was the lab building. But without permission, no one wanted to get close to it.
Back in the office, Candy hummed a little tune as she casually plopped the chestnuts on the coffee table, then skipped back out again.
Seeing Candy head toward the CEO’s office and not down the stairs, Mo Jingchun stopped paying attention.
She’d slept the whole morning; making Candy take another nap now, she probably wouldn’t fall asleep anyway.
"Sis..."
Candy saw her sister leaning back in her chair, seemingly asleep, and immediately lightened her footsteps.
Walking up close, Candy confirmed that her sister was indeed asleep.
Scratching her head, Candy was a bit puzzled—if she was asleep, why was she still frowning?
The next second, Candy’s eyes lit up.
She figured it out! Her sister was definitely having a nightmare—maybe she was dreaming of some ghost walking upside down, head pointing at the ground.
Heh heh. #^_^#
Seeing Candy come back less than three minutes after leaving, Mo Jingchun couldn’t help laughing as he said:
"Your sister probably isn’t even back from lunch yet. There’s no one in the CEO’s office; what’s so great about going there?"
"Nope, sis is there, but she’s already asleep."
As she spoke, Candy lowered her voice and said, "Bro, let me tell you a secret, sis is having a nightmare, her eyebrows keep twitching."
Mo Jingchun let out a speechless chuckle—she could tell someone was having a nightmare?
"What about you then? You still napping this afternoon or not?"
She shook her head, then clenched her fists to psych herself up.
"I’m gonna do my homework!"
"I’m gonna finish all my summer homework this week!"
That kind of ambition had Mo Jingchun cheering in his heart! Look at that, look—this little sister of his is built different, way more drive than he had back in the day!
Unlike him—when he went home for vacation, his summer homework stayed in his bag and never saw the light of day.
No room for pride, though. Mo Jingchun just gave a faint smile and said:
"If you finish all your summer homework this week, I’ll take you rafting. Not that boring water-park kind, but a big canyon rafting trip."
"How’s that for a reward?"
"Great!"
The little crescent at the corner of Candy’s mouth nearly reached her ears.
A sure-win deal with no downside—of course it was great.
Rafting ~ so ex|citing!
At night, moonlight spilled across the ground, and with Bun keeping her company, Candy was no longer as scared and sleepless as she’d been the night before.
It was hilarious—right after getting home, the first thing Candy did was check under the bed.
Turned out White had cleaned under the bed spotless—not even a single hair.
In the room next door, the slightly-spooked Zhou Yaling forcibly dragged Little Grey inside to stand guard.
With a dog around, all demons and monsters have to kneel.
That night, Zhou Yaling and Candy both slept unusually soundly.
Scientifically speaking, their proportion of deep sleep time was higher than usual.
......
By late July, Candy found that there were fewer and fewer little buddies around the park; it was like everyone had agreed in advance—either heading back to their hometowns or getting picked up to go play in some other city.
After wandering around downstairs, Candy, looking thoroughly dejected, led Little Grey back into the office building.
If it weren’t for the promise of something to eat, Little Grey wouldn’t even have wanted to go out with Candy.
It was so hot outside—nowhere near as comfortable as staying in the office building with the air conditioning.
Back in the office, Candy pounced and found nothing—her brother and the others were all gone.
Tilting her head up toward the camera overhead, Candy asked, "Zero, did you and my brother go to Lab Building No. 2 again?"
"Boss went over; I’m on the third floor of the office building. You wanna come over?"
"Are you doing patrol?"
"Yep, it’s super fun."
"Wait for me! I’ll be right there!"
Patting Little Grey on the head, the gloom on Candy’s face vanished without a trace.
Candy grinned and said to Little Grey:
"Paw Patrol, move out!"
She had just dragged Little Grey out of the office when Candy doubled back again.
Standing in the doorway, Candy put her hands on her hips and shouted aggressively:
"Bun, you too! Bro said you have to lose weight, or your little life’s in danger."
"You don’t wanna get chopped today, do you?"
Bun, who’d been lying on the sofa in a classic Ge You sprawl, stared at his little owner in a daze.
It was just a tiny bit of extra chub—how did that escalate into him getting chopped today?
Bullying a little kitty just because he’s only done a few days of schooling, is that it?
"Meow~"
"Nope! Hurry up!"
"I’ve decided, starting today I’m putting you on a weight-loss plan—ten thousand steps a day."
"When Bro gets off work tonight, I’ll have him buy a pedometer to hang around your neck."
Pity his misfortune, rage at his failings, hate that the iron refuses to turn into steel.
"Look at me, I know to work on my homework every day, and you don’t even know you need to lose weight?"
"Makes sense, doesn’t it!"
The moment the dog leash slipped around his neck, Bun’s eyes were full of refusal.
Five minutes later, as Zero waited on the third floor and saw Candy show up with two bodyguards at her sides, he couldn’t help bursting out laughing.
