Chapter 59 Demon Tamers
As the hunk left in a flash, the temperature inside the tent returned to normal. Shortly after, the other two higher-ups hurried and called their own tamed beasts before one of them left the tent.
The old man had called an androgynous-looking monster covered in several layers of fluttering strips of white cloth. Its eyes were blindfolded by a black strip, heavily contrasting from the other strips. Its figure exudes an ephemeral aura with tiny particles of light being emitted gradually from its body.
It was my first time seeing one, but it should be the 9th-stage Judge of the Impartial Heavens. It’s the only 9th-stage being with neither a king nor a queen title. It was even suspected that its uniqueness made it able to surpass the God level, which was the current limit of all tamed beasts. 𝙚𝙙𝙣𝒐𝙫𝙚𝙡.𝙤𝙧𝒈
The other woman, who had a milder temperament compared to the previous lady boss, called out to her tamed beast too. It was a pair of small child-like humanoid beasts with their faces hiding behind a translucent veil. Although they exude a mysterious air, their presence doesn’t give one the sense that they are strong. Probably, they are more inclined to support roles.
This one is something that is new to me, I do know not its rank or its racial name. Out of curiosity, I activated the appraisal and was shocked by its result. It can’t be appraised! Even if the appraisal target was way above the user’s level, at least an unknown notification would be heard. However, instead of that, nothing actually happened.
“Tamer Will…”
The mild-looking woman called while sporting a mocking smile.
“Please perish the thought of appraising my child. These two are masters of information manipulation.”
As she finished speaking, hundreds of floating windows with varying sizes appeared all over the inside of the tent. Each window showed a scene from somewhere else, like seeing it through a drone or a body camera. The mild-looking woman spent a few moments of analysis before she reported to God Zeshion.
“Mr. Z, I found out the identity of the attackers. It’s the Demon Tamers. It seems that they set off bombs when they saw you push back the barrier.”
“Demon Tamers?”
It was a term I heard for the first time. In the first place, it should be impossible to tame a demon. They are beings completely incompatible with the taming system. So, the existence of a “Demon” tamer should be pointing to something else and not to Tamers who managed to tame demons.
“I see… Then they should also be doing something inside the barrier right?”
Hearing God Zeshion’s question, the woman quickly replied.
“It seems that they are working to make a stable teleportation portal inside the space-sealing barrier.”
“Their numbers and location.”
“… There’s 77 of them scattered all over the city while there’s only 3 of them inside the barrier…”
“Okay. Plot their locations on the map.”
Saying so, a rolled map about the size of an A1 paper (approx 3ft by 2ft), was unfolded on the floor. With a wave of the woman’s hands, lots of red dots appeared in several locations. There were even green dots of a much greater number scattered in groups.
As soon as she finished doing this, the woman fell to her knees as her nose bled. The tamed beast she summoned vanished from their spot without my notice.
As I was about to offer her a towel, she quickly pulled out a clean white handkerchief and wiped the blood off her nose and mouth. After that, she returned to standing in attention as if nothing had happened.
Seeing her act like that, I can’t help but pretend that I saw nothing, returning to looking at the map on the floor.
The red and green dots, as if through some form of magic, were moving all around the map. The green dots were slowly diminishing in number every time they clashed with a red dot. Soon, three blue dots appeared on the map. The red dots in their vicinity vanished almost instantly.
The three moved quickly and eliminated one red dot after another. However, a few of the red dots grouped together, managing to actually last more than one exchange against the blue dots.
Just like that, the three blue dots got slowed by the grouped-up red dots. The remaining green dots were working hard to clean up the singular red dots, but they paid a large price for each one they eliminated.
“Zeta, go and help the soldiers. Protect them from attacks. Eta, heal the ones who are still alive.”
With a serious expression, God Zeshion quickly spoke to the empty air. However, as soon as he did, the space beside him seemed to have rippled like a troubled water’s surface. A hand appeared and touched God Zeshion’s cheeks lovingly before vanishing once more.
“Will, sorry for this. Looks like we got you caught up in trouble.”
God Zeshion said with a wry smile. Hearing that, I quickly shook my head.
“No, I should thank you instead for letting me stay here. If I were anywhere else, then I would’ve been minced meat by now.”
The guards of the capital city were top-class. They should at least have 6th- to 7th-awakening-level beasts in possession. Even with that, they are dropping like flies against those “Demon Tamers”. This would mean that the enemy outclassed the capital’s guards.
I, who only had Ember and Fang up to 3rd awakening level, would die instantly if I entered their range. It’s different from when Fatima and the Void Beast were fighting since we could stay far from the actual battle zone back then.
“God Zeshion, what are the Demon Tamers anyway? And do you know why they are attacking the capital?”
Given their current display of power, they shouldn’t be a simple terrorist group. God Zeshion, hearing my question sighed.
“I guess you have the right to know at least… But you should keep this information a secret from others, okay?”
After hesitating a bit, I nodded my head in assent. Seeing that God Zeshion smiled and nodded his head in approval.
“Demon Tamers are actually tamers who use forbidden methods to strengthen their own bodies. Through rapidly evolving their tamed monsters, they quickly earn more power.”
Before speaking the next part, God Zeshion’s expression turned a bit darker.
“However, the monsters they used would die quickly after getting forcefully evolved like that without any stabilization time provided.”
