Chapter 53 Fighting The Void Beast
The next morning, my body hurts. Especially the back, hips, and neck. I’ll skip the details, but doing a partner who’s way stronger than you really had its own risks.
When I woke up, Fatima was already gone from there. I quickly dressed up and returned to the previous cavern only to see the three girls chatting happily around the campfire/lantern.
As I approached, they ended their chat. Although I was curious about their topic, since it seems that they don’t want me to hear it, I just let it go.
“Now that everyone’s here, it’s time to head up.”
Fatima stood up and dusted her plump ass. I involuntarily stared at it and remembered the events last night. Despite how wild she was back then, it seems only I was left with body pain. She’s not showing even a bit of discomfort. If not for the blood traces on the bed, I would’ve believed that it was all my imagination.
“I still can’t believe I did that…”
As I reflect on myself, we started walking toward the other side of the wide cavern. There, to my surprise, was a set of stairs going upwards.
Without any pause, Fatima strode onto the stairs and vanished from sight. As the stairs were gently curving upwards, it was hard to see the end of it. We went on like that silently for an hour.
“Stop! From here on, we are within the detection range of the Void Beast. I’ll be erasing your presence with my skill, so don’t stray farther than 5 meters from me.”
With her words as the cue, a spherical translucent black veil covered her surroundings. The three of us were included in its range too. I tried touching it, but it was completely intangible.
“Remember. After walking for 1 kilometer, a branch will appear on the road. As we practiced, you guys will stay together as I fight the Void Beast alone.”
Saying up to this point, Fatima turned towards Ember and held her hands in front of her.
“Ember, dear, I’m counting on you. All you need to do is to create an opening and I’ll take it from there.”
We learned it earlier, but Fatima actually couldn’t use her Void Energy for battle. As the most important piece in maintaining the sealed space, her Void Energy was used for keeping the whole dimension sealed. That’s why even after she found ways to kill the Void Beast, she couldn’t do so alone.
After letting go of Ember’s hands, Fatima scanned all of our faces.
“This is it. Let’s go!”
After that, we ran at the fastest speed we could go. In short, all three of them are matching my pace. It was embarrassing, to be the slowest in the group.
A kilometer distance was covered in just a few seconds. In front, dozens of tunnels were visible leading to different locations.
“You guys take the rightmost tunnel! Fang, take charge of concealment!”
Saying so, she dashed forward leaving the three of us. .t
As soon as we left the influence of her concealment, Fang cast a similar skill using her dark energy. It was a different kind to what Fatima used, but the effect should be similar.
*ROOOOOOAAAAARRRR!!!*
As soon as Fang’s concealment took effect, a loud roar echoed. The cave trembled as if an earthquake was occurring.
“Let’s go, to the right!”
I quickly reminded the two who stiffened from hearing its angry roar. We entered the right tunnel and followed its winding path until we made it out. The place where we came out is some plateau on top of one of the many mountains on the mountain range.
There, in front of us, an intense battle was unfolding.
“Die, you ugly son of a b**ch!”
*Bang, bang, bang, boom!*
Fatima angrily shouted as she shot both her pistols at the Void Beast. Despite its invulnerability, thanks to the trap that they made, even Fatima’s guns were able to deal a little damage. However, it wasn’t even close to being enough.
The trap that we made was actually pretty simple. Using the elemental energy that the Void Beast uses often, we embedded a sort of virus that makes it so that the Void Energy inside the Void Beast becomes unstable. The only difficult part was the blueprint of the “virus” energy, which was easily solved by using Fatima’s millennium-old design. The only drawback was that it takes time to spread throughout the beast’s whole body.
“Ember, begin now!”
I quickly conducted as I saw Fatima keep the Void Beast busy, just as planned. They were fighting a few kilometers away, but despite that, the shockwaves from each bullet and each blow they exchanged were making it hard for us to even keep our eyes peeled.
Ember quickly moved and took out three clones. The clones moved and assembled themselves into the shape of a large ballista. There, Ember made another clone and transformed it into a javelin before loading it on the ballista.
“I’ll start pouring Void Powers in! Fang, protect me!”
Ember shouted as she closed her eyes, focusing all her nerves on a single task. Fang moved in front of Ember, blocking the shockwaves and dust from reaching her.
“Boulder incoming!”
Seeing a stray boulder that went flying over to us, I warned Fang. Fang quickly jumped forward and using her sharp claws, pulverized the boulder in an instant. Although the dust made it hard to see, the next shockwave sent all the dust away in an instant.
I peeked at Ember who was still not done. Even when she was in a safe environment, it took her two minutes to finish embedding her thoughts in her clone.
Now, two minutes had passed and she didn’t show any signs of movement.
Then, in the distance, Fatima got hit by a beam that came out of the Void Beast’s mouth. She was sent flying towards a mountain further away. With her out of the way, the Void Beast’s attention turned to the three of us.
‘Damn! This is bad!’ Before the thought was even completed, the Void beast was already in front of us.
The speed of this beast was really something else, proving that it was only playing with us when we first encountered it. Just as I was about to move and try to intercept the beast, a flash of lightning passed.
*GRAAAAH!!!*
“NO. YOU. DON’T!!!”
Fatima, with a bleeding forehead, landed a clean punch on the Void Beast’s cheeks sending it flying in the air. Then, with a twirl, she added a spinning kick, sending the beast to the place where they were before.
“Sorry, I let my guard down! Take this!”
Fatima apologized as she passed her guns to me. “Use it well.” She added.
Realizing her intentions, I quickly morphed it into the large caliber rifle mode. Then, I went prone and aimed the nozzle at the beast.
