Chapter 449 They are on Their Own
449 They are on Their Own
I expected my words to spark a debate, but I completely underestimated the level of chaos that soon ensued.
“Are you insane?! We made them sign a contract, and then we’ll willingly let them go?!”
“President, this will cause further chaos, for sure!”
“Our finances will take a hit if we hire God Zeshion and Goddess Zeta to do it again.”
“President Will, you must be out of your mind. Doing so would only end with us losing our hold on them!”
Everyone’s opinions were valid, and I am completely in agreement with their words. Not about me being insane, of course, but the rest. I raised a hand, calming down the rowdy meeting room filled with shouting and bashing, before further clarifying what I just said.
“Of course, it’s not all at once. We’ll do it one at a time.”
My plan wouldn’t really end with them returning to their lands. After all, the current state of their “lands” should be quite scary right now. Although there are not many god-level demons around anymore, there are still tons of 9th stages here and there.
The demons we cleaned up weren’t even a drop in the bucket when looking at the total number of demons around the world.
So, technically, returning them to their previous place is like dropping them in the middle of a war zone. Chaos would ensue shortly after, and when the worst happens, it could even cause their kingdoms to be wiped out.
“… And such, as soon as they request to return once more, we’ll be hitting them with a heavier geass, basically making slaves out of them.”
This way, the voices of opposition would be eliminated quickly.
After hearing my explanation, only Millinda had her eyes sparkling, like looking at her idol or something.
“Right! We should go with this plan! I push for its approval!”
She quickly latched onto the plan and enthusiastically supported it. I don’t know what’s running through her mind right now, but I’d rather not know…
The rest of the ministers were looking at me with complicated expressions, like they just saw someone walking around naked, proud, with their heads held high.
Well, I admit that this plan is diabolical, where it’s basically forcing them to worsen their standings, but it’s their fault either way. Their citizens were going to be dragged down by the idiocy of their leaders. As any other country would.
‘That’s why you should pick competent leaders and not one based simply on bloodline.’
After that, they all started to chat with hushed voices, and one after another started to join in and approve of the plan I proposed. ๐ช.๐ค๐๐ฎ
Of course, we can’t execute it all at once since God Zeshion was still injured and Goddess Zeta was busy worrying over him together with Alpha. As such, the earliest date we specified for the plan to be set in motion was in three days.
After that, the ministers took advantage of the occasion and directly asked my opinion about some of their troubles regarding their departments. After I told them that I had set up one clone for each department for management, their faces brightened immediately.
Nothing beats finishing work quickly.
The meeting, as promised, ended early, and everyone was released. Well, everyone but Millinda. She remained as she still had things to report, specifically regarding the new national venture that she started: gem faceting and accessory making.
“With the method that you passed to my crafter, we have made a few prototypes already. However, due to the recent chaos with the Void Beast and god-level demons, we haven’t started selling them yet.”
“…”
The timing was just too bad. Anyway, with this, the finances of our country should stabilize soon. Ember could finally stop supplying guns to the world in large quantities. We can lower the quantity and sell them at a premium, hiking their price while lowering the burden on her. Yep, we should do that.
After listening to a few more reports from Millinda, she finally went back to work.
As expected, she’s extremely competent when it comes to managing finances and looking for opportunities. Setting her as the Minister of Finance was the right choice.
Left alone, I quickly returned to my office and began drafting the specific details for the previous plan I suggested. It will rely mostly on Zeshion and Zeta’s teleportation abilities, so we should sweeten the deal for them. Maybe I could take out some of the over-gathered god-level essence crystals as their payment?
After finishing the draft, which took me a few hours to complete, I left the document on top of Yu Na’s table, since she had already clocked out, and returned home. With this much preparation, the country should be stable for the coming week at least.
After returning, I sat in my office and started handling the documents from the Seimei and Luo families, which were gradually piling up. It wasn’t as tall as back in the president’s office, though, so it’s a lot easier on the eyes. ๐๐ณ.๐ธโด๐
The entire day after that, I spent churning numbers, approving requests, reading reports, and so on. When I finally completed my job, the moon was already high up in the sky, lighting the dark world outside the window with its cool, golden glow.
“… I should get a vacation.”
Completely randomly, such a thought entered my mind.
For the sake of the country, after becoming its president, I was basically working nonstop. Having a week or so of rest should be fine, right?
After deciding to do so, I quickly went to where the girls were and asked for their input. It wasn’t a surprise to me that they all agreed with me taking a break. Seeing the look in their eyes, it’s hard to say if I’ll have time to “rest.”
“But the problem is the location… I want to go somewhere quiet, where nobody can disturb us, with beautiful scenery…”
I began to rummage through my memory for such a place but came out with nothing. There’s no such place as a tourist spot anywhere these days, after all. Just as I was getting frustrated, Ember raised her hand.
“Then, Master, what about resting inside my God’s Kingdom?”
“…”
That… is a good idea.
