Chapter 27 Divine Punishment (3)
“Fang is unable to continue the battle, the winner is Will and his big slime Ember!”
Right after Fang fell down motionless, the announcer quickly declared the end of the match. Aster, on the other hand, was still fuming in anger.
“Hey, you trash! Get up and attack him already! Useless!!!”
It seems like he didn’t even hear the declaration of the end of the battle. No, maybe he did hear it but ignored it instead. Either way, he’s too agitated to even reason with.
“Quiet.”
As usual, God Zeshion just appeared in front of Aster in an instant. With his dismissing words, Aster was immediately made both immobile and unable to speak. It was as if he was under full body restraint. The audience, too, quieted down as they wait for God Zeshion to speak.
“Tamer Aster… No, Asterion Von Milluert. Son of Marquis Justin Von Milluert. After disregarding countless warnings, and even ignoring my final warning, you tried to harm another tamer.”
As God Zeshion spoke, balls of light started rising from the ground around the whole stadium. It was about fist-size and released a tranquil white light. It felt like looking at the orbs was making my whole body relax.
“I, God Tamer Blue Zeshion, hereby represent the Taming System in condemning you. Asterion Von Milluert, from this moment on, you are no longer able to use the blessing of the Taming System. All contracts with you shall be dissolved and invalidated… [Divine Punishment]!”
The moment that God Zeshion muttered the skill’s name, the white orbs suddenly moved like a storm toward Aster’s body. The orbs passed through his body like ghosts, then turned blood red before quickly melting in the air, vanishing completely. After the tens of thousands of orbs turned red and vanished, Aster fell to his knees.
“… No… T-This… This isn’t… No…”
He kept repeating incoherent words like a broken record. Neither his usual flair nor the anger he had just moments before was present. Honestly, he felt like a different person entirely right now. The entire stadium on the other hand erupted with loud cheers as if to celebrate this event.
After that, God Zeshion appeared beside Fang who was lying motionless on the ground. With a wave of his hand, the poor Shadow Wolf was quickly healed back to its peak condition. However, now that Fang was released, nobody’s left to take care of it anymore. Under such a situation, God Zeshion would temporarily be the one to take care of Fang until a new contract is formed.
“I will take care of Fang for now. If anyone wants to try to re-contract her, you can-”
“Wait!”
Before God Zeshion could finish his words, I quickly interrupted. Usually, when appraising an already tamed monster, only the race name could be seen. Now that Fang got released from the previous contract, the appraisal of the taming system can work on it again. After taking a glance at it, I quickly noticed that Fang was actually Female. An environment where I can safely attempt a taming is a god-given opportunity for me.
“I want to try and tame her!”
As they say, yesterday’s enemy is today’s friend. Since I found that Aster doesn’t really care about Fang all along, attempting to tame her wouldn’t even hurt my conscience. Rather, I even pity her for having such an asshole as a tamer.
“Oh, so you want to try right now? However, doing so would disqualify you from the tournament though? Is that fine?”
In this Newbie Tamer’s Tournament, only tamers with “one” 2nd stage or below beast could participate. If I successfully tamed Fang here and now, then I would end up getting disqualified due to having “two” tamed beasts. Honestly, I didn’t think of such consequences when I asked earlier. .
Remembering the promised reward from Fina for taking the championship, although I probably have little to no chance of winning against Wan Li, I don’t want to personally throw away the chance no matter how small.
“No. Sorry for interrupting.”
After weighing my choices, I apologized to God Zeshion.
“It’s fine. If it’s after tomorrow’s battle and nobody succeeds in taming Fang, you can still try.”
Saying so, God Zeshion and Fang both vanished instantly.
After calling Ember back, we quickly headed toward the waiting room. The next fight was scheduled for the afternoon which was several hours away. During that time, several exhibition matches would be performed on the field. Of course, such performances focus more on the visual impact of the battle than either winning or losing. Even if I was allowed to watch it, there’s honestly nothing that I could learn from it.
—
Time quickly passed and it was already time for Wan Li’s battle. Still, just a few minutes into the battle, Wan Li already won. As usual, the control skills she used were extremely effective in holding the enemy down. Another match ended with the enemy landing zero hits on Xiao Bing.
After the battle ended, I quickly returned to the guest house. Since it was still too early for dinner, I instead stayed in my room to devise a strategy against Wan Li. However, no matter what strategy I think of unless Ember learns magic, then we have no winning chance.
“Ember only has melee skills right now. With how good Xiao Bing is with her crowd control skills, matched with the [Physical Damage Nullification], then we have no chance of winning.”
Even if I manage to close the distance, the [Physical Damage Nullification] would make any attacks leave no damage.
“… Wait. What does constitute to physical attack, and what constitutes to magic attack?”
If it is magic that created physical projectiles like [Rock Bullet] or some sort, does it categorize as magic or physical damage?
Noticing that this point would be the only chance we have, I spent the whole afternoon thinking about it. In the end, I devised a new strategy that may or may not work. If my guess about the meaning of “physical” in the skill is correct, then my plan should work!
When dinnertime came, I went down to the dining room. There, both Wan Er and Wan Li were present.
