Chapter 143 The Great Escape
As soon as Noir left, the two guards finally let out a sigh of relief.
“Damn! Lord Agor’s torture sure is creepy.”
“You tell me. Who the hell uses [Shadow Whip] to do that nowadays, right?”
The two of them looked in my direction, their faces turning into smirks.
“But this trash sure is sturdy. To think he didn’t lose a single limb after all that.”
I, too, am in awe of the sturdiness of my body. My injury should be beyond what a normal person could tolerate. I had broken bones, ruptured organs, numerous internal bleeding, a broken ribcage, and even a punctured lung.
Any normal person would have fainted from the torture halfway through. I guess focusing on canceling the halo every time it tried to activate did help keep me from fainting.
The two guards were relaxed and kept on chatting about random things. I bided my time, waiting for the perfect opportunity to escape. However, the two didn’t show any signs of leaving the vicinity of my cell even after an hour passed.
I was already reaching the limits of my patience, so I started my escape plan despite the two still being present.
Slowly, I scrunched my body, which was hanging in the air. I did it gently until the chain in my legs and the chain hanging me up were pulled taut. I bit my lip, preventing myself from releasing any noise.
Then, I slowly pulled my arms down, using my leg strength. The bracelet fits nicely on my wrists, with absolutely no wiggle space. With that, there should be no way to remove it… Normally.
I almost let out a groan as I felt my hand’s bones get crushed as I pulled my hands forcefully. My thumb was the first to get dislocated, making my consciousness white out for a moment from the pain. Then, the bones on my ring and middle finger got crushed as my palm folded in half vertically.
As my right hand was almost out, I quickly moved my attention to my left hand and did the same. The meat on the bottom of my left thumb was getting slowly shaved off as blood trickled down my arms. Despite the excruciating pain, I held on and pulled. With a pop, both hands were free, and I fell to the ground with a thud. The bracelets bumped into each other, releasing a loud, ear-piercing metallic noise.
“What?” 𝐨𝘃𝗹.
The guards heard the noise and were about to turn around, but I had already sent two needles made of pure darkness toward their ears. Even if they were Demon Tamers, they shouldn’t be able to harden their eardrums or their brains. As the shadow needles pierced through the eardrum, the shaft let out hundreds of smaller needles, turning the contents of their heads into waste.
The two guards slumped on the ground like puppets that had had their strings cut. After observing for a while longer, I deemed that they were dead and moved to free myself from the cuffs on my feet. Since I could use energy now that my hands were free, I just cut off both feet, not wasting time.
Before the pain could kick in, I quickly chanted inside my head, “System’s Heavenly Halo: Activate!”
At the same moment, a brief, bright flash of golden light covered my body, completely healing my internal and external injuries.
[System Message: User-Initiated Heavenly System’s Halo. Detecting injuries… Particulars: Stomach, liver, and diaphragm are completely destroyed. Ribcage broken. Right lung punctured. Heavy concussion. Internal hemorrhage. Dislocated and crushed finger bones. Lost body part: Both feet… Healing completed.]
As I listened to the announcement, I just realized how battered I was. If Ember and Fang hadn’t evolved, then I wouldn’t have enough energy for all that healing. If left as is, I would’ve probably died in a few more hours as my stomach acids burned the rest of my organs.
I quickly used [Shadow Skip] to move to the other side of the cell and moved the two dead bodies to the side of the entrance, a blind spot from outside.
After making sure that they wouldn’t be noticed, I quickly cast Fang’s signature Presence Concealing Veil, which I learned from scratch as it wasn’t a skill. It was easy for me to pick up, though, since I could clearly see the flow of energy. I achieved a perfect score from Fang after just a couple of tries.
With my presence hidden, I slowly traveled down the straight and dark corridor, praying that I wouldn’t end up bumping into Noir along the way. I still have energy left, but the quantity isn’t enough to completely escape.
“But before I can escape, I need to retrieve my storage ring…”
I don’t really care about the other accessories that got confiscated, but the storage ring contains the gun, the core fragment, and the bullets. I can’t leave here without those.
I moved forward, hoping to find the ring as fast as I could.

At the Luo residence, an emergency meeting was held.
From the Luo side, there was Luo Meng Yao and Goddess Vermeil. From the Seimei side, there were Ember, Fang, Igni, and the three Contracted Servants, Wan Li, Wan Er, and Ying Yue.
“He got kidnapped by Agor?!”
Goddess Vermeil raised her voice, surprised by the suddenness of the event.
“If that’s true, then I can’t help you alone. We need to call the others too.”
“Is Agor that strong?”
Fang asked. In her eyes, Agor didn’t seem as powerful as Goddess Vermeil, not to mention God Zeshion. However, Vermeil shook her head and warned,
“It’s not that he’s strong… I alone can beat him one-on-one in his current state. However, he is extremely tricky. If I go there, then he’d just run away after killing Will to rub salt in our wound.”
Goddess Vermeil looked at the silent Lady Luo, then at the three contracted girls.
“And we even need to settle this within 24 hours for these three’s sake.”
Ember, hearing all this, nodded her head gently.
“Thank you, Goddess Vermeil. Can we count on you to contact the rest of the God Tamers?”
“I will.”
As Ember smiled, finally settling the matter, she suddenly had her eyes wide open before standing up as she slammed her palms on the table.
“My clone… the one I left with Master… just got destroyed!”
