Chapter 109 Fighting The Luo Pursuers
“The Luo are attacking!”
The guard, right after shouting this, fell forward and fainted. He was getting low on blood, as can be seen from how deep his wounds were.
“Guren!”
I quickly shouted before running ahead.
“They’re probably here for me. Call for backup and follow me!”
I rushed forward in a mad dash, zipping past the running non-combatants of the Seimei family. A few seconds later, I arrived at the front gate, where a vicious battle unfolded.
“We received information that you’re hiding Tamer Will here; hand him over to us, and we will leave you alone!”
A male tamer, wearing a robe with the emblem of the Luo family embroidered on its broad back, shouted as he rode on top of a gigantic eagle. From my eyes, I could estimate that he was at the 7th level, and his tamed eagle was around the 5th level.
‘If it’s this much, then I don’t need to wait for backup,’ I thought as I picked up a random stake that fell down by the side.
It was long enough to be a javelin, so I raised it above my shoulders and aimed. Using the combination of water energy to enhance its aerodynamics and dark energy to conceal its presence, I threw it forward.
Like a laser, it honed in on the eagle’s right eye and luckily punctured all the way through. The eagle, who was just lazing around in the sky, fell down along with its cocky tamer.
“It’s me who you’re looking for, and I’m right here! Stop this nonsense!”
I shouted as I extended both my hands wide, trying to exert my presence against the pursuers. As expected, they all rushed in my direction, shouting dangerous words like “Die,” “Don’t do anything foolish and offer your life,” and such.
Each and every one of the attackers was around the 7th level, which should be the cream of the crop fighters of a clan. If I were a normal tamer, then I’d have died ten times over in just a split second under their offensive.
Two figures jumped out of my shadow, wearing flashy kimonos that were surely not fit for a battle. One waved her claws clad in darkness, while the other swung her tail covered in a fiery blaze. It was none other than Fang and Igni’s combination attack.
They had no way to dodge, as they were in mid-jump before getting intercepted. Both attacks landed with pinpoint precision, snuffing out their lives in an instant.
Before the burnt debris of their diced bodies fell, Ember was already one step ahead and used her clones to transform into a cannon and blast away. Each shell was powerful enough to erase body parts that got in its path.
In just a split second, our team managed to kill about a dozen of the Luo’s trackers. The Seimei guards gaped in awe, while the rest of the Luo’s fighters gritted their teeth in anger.
When they were about to make another attack, a voice echoed from behind them.
“Halt!” ๐ฏ๐๐ท๐๏ผ๐๐ฐ๐ฎ
Ying Yue, who had just reached the gates, looked around with a frown. Her eyes stopped at the pile of meat before me as a grin appeared on her face.
“Hmph! This is what’ll happen if you keep on going against the Luo Family! Give up now and surrender your life if you don’t want to become like that pile of meat before you!”
Hearing her confident words, I tilted my head in confusion.
It seems like she thought that the sliced and diced meat before me was from the Seimei’s. I scanned the faces of the other Luo members, but all of them were looking away in embarrassment.
“Ying Yue, this pile isn’t mine, but your subordinates.”
“Huh? What nonsense are you saying?”
She quickly replied in anger.
Looking around, the guards were in the 5th stage at best, while her lackeys were all in the 7th stage. No matter how you look at it, it’s impossible for them to die such a horrible death.
After looking around, Ying Yue’s face was covered in darkness. She noticed that her subordinates were reduced in half and that the rest were injured here and there. Despite having a more powerful team, they still lost.
Her face then suddenly brightened, as if she noticed something, and she smiled confidently once more.
“The Seimei’s are protecting you, aren’t they? An 8th or 9th stage master should be hiding nearby! Show yourselves!”
I scratched the back of my head. This girlโisn’t she too clueless? Can’t she see that the wounds on everyone match Ember’s, Fang’s, and Igni’s current weapons? If claws and a blazing tail can count as one.
“Guren! Come out here! Are you really willing to fight against the Luo Family just to protect this nobody?!”
Her shout resounded like a receding wave, probably reaching all the way to where Guren was. However, before he even came, my mouth opened before I could stop it.
“Guren’s not the acting head anymore, so no use in calling for him.”
Ying Yue scowled.
“Then call the new head! I want him kneeling before me right now!”
Shrugging, I simply said, “Speaking.”
Ying Yue stared at me with quizzical eyes, as if she were looking at an idiot.
“Are you f*cking with me?”
“No, I’m not. You’re not my type.”
I almost cursed my mouth when that came out almost instantly.
“Ah, no, I don’t mean to be rude. But that’s the truth.”
Ying Yue was angry, humiliated even. Some of her subordinates were even holding back a chuckle after hearing me roast her. Her face was red, visible even in the dark of night, but I can’t determine if it was from either embarrassment or anger.
“Stop!”
Guren’s voice echoed from above. He was falling down the stairs as he jumped. With a loud thud, he landed right beside me.
“This person, Will, is really the new head of the Seimei family. Any further harassment would be taken as an insult to the whole clan!”
Guren then glared at Ying Yue, emphasizing each word that he spoke.
“So get your subordinates out of here before we change our mind.”
