TALENT STEALING MAGE
Chapter 34: Pilling Bodies
Snow looked up and she saw Leon, somehow the heartbeat stopped and the pressure vanished.
’It’s gone,’ she thought. She stared at Leon for a few seconds and then cracked a smile. "Yes, I’m fine. I tripped, that’s all."
"Hmm? Someone as nimble as you can trip?" Leon asked as he stretched his hand to her. She grabbed it and he helped her back to her feet.
"I saw the knights and guards moving, also adventurers have joined the fight, there is hope for the situation," Leon said, but then a streak of sadness formed on his face.
"A lot of people have died still. I saw bodies litter the floor and some were even kids." He balled his fist in anger as he spoke. "Who would unleash this sort of thing and why would they do this?"
Snow saw the anger in his eyes, but she allowed him to vent, that was the best way for him now and stopping him would do nothing but bottle the rage.
While he was in this state, another group of undead found them. Leon turned to look at them and he saw them dragging a woman by the hair.
"You fucking bastards." His rage flipped completely. He pulled his wand, spun around and attacked with his lightning spell. The bolt travelled through the air fast and slammed into the closest undead, shattering him to pieces while Snow dashed forward, turning her blood into a hammer. She leaped into the air, swung down and shattered the ones closer to her and freed the woman.
"Get up and run," she said immediately.
The lady got on her feet and started running. She ran into an alley, but as soon as she stepped in, a spear came flying and stabbed right through her chest. She flew back and slammed into the ground hard with the spear sticking out of her chest.
Leon and Snow froze. They watched her body lose life in front of them, their breaths quickened, their bodies ran cold, their eyes heavy, she filled with feelings that could not fully explain.
Before they could voice out anything or fully feel anything, a figure walked out from the alley, a skeleton undead that was unlike anything that they had dealt with. Standing at six feet tall, fully armoured and with a cleaver in its hand. It looked at them with a burning desire to destroy.
It ripped the spear out of her chest, allowing the blood to drip down as it kept its eyes right on Leon and Snow. It raised the spear and pointed right at them.
"I’m going to kill it." Leon growled and was about to charge ahead, Snow grabbed his shoulder and pulled him back.
"I’ll attack, cover me." She looked at him and gave him a nod. Leon did not want to stand back because he wanted to take down this monster, but he trusted her and so he allowed her.
Snow charged in. She turned her blood hammer into a sword and attacked. The undead blocked with the shaft of the spear and then swung down the cleaver, but a trail of ice hit the hand and froze it in the air, stopping it.
Snow looked up, seeing her hand was frozen, she took the opportunity to slip under and go for the leg, but the undead was fast and it backed away to evade her before forcefully shattering the ice and swinging the cleaver down. Snow rolled under the attack, the blade hit the ground and cleaved into one group.
Leon, who was already charged in, slid by the side of the arm while casting a freeze spell that started freezing the entire arm and locking it in place. The undead tried to pull out fast, but it was not fast enough as Snow was already on the attack. She transformed it into a hammer and went for a swing that shattered the leg and sent the undead to the ground hard.
"Rawwwwwwwr," the undead let out a roar and pulled its hand out of the ice. Its eyes locked onto Snow and it swung without hesitation. She created a blade and blocked the attack, the shockwave spread out and a spiderweb crack formed under her feet and spread.
It lifted the spear and thrust at her to take her down completely, but Leon slid in. He used a bright fire spell to blind it while creating a rock wall in seconds. The spear stabbed into the rock and got stuck, while Leon had already slipped past and had a clean shot to the undead, so he used lightning. The bolt slammed clean and caused a massive blast in the ribcage of the undead, sending it staggering back.
Its legs had reassembled at this point, but it could not keep itself standing still. Snow was free to attack now, so she rushed in fast. She leaped into the air.
"Snow, here!" Leon yelled and slashed his own hand with an ice blade. Without looking, Snow controlled the blood and added it to what she had. She made a massive hammer and put everything into one massive swing. The hammer bent fully as it swung and slammed into the head of the undead.
BOOM
A shockwave ripped out as the head shattered under the force and the undead was killed.
Snow stood on its chest, she turned around and gave Leon a smile.
"That was awesome," Leon said with a smile.
Snow was about to come down when she heard the heartbeat coming from the pillar again. She felt it in her chest, she grabbed it and tried to control it. She looked at Leon and noticed that he was not looking in that moment, she heaved a sigh of relief and leaped down.
"Let’s move, we have to take down as much of them before they kill too many more people." Leon said, seeing the woman get killed right in front of him sent him into a state of worry where he knew one undead could be taking the life of someone else right now.
