TALENT STEALING MAGE
Chapter 30: Talking to mom
The next day came faster than Leon wanted it to. He lay on his bed looking at the ceiling with full eyes.
"It’s today," he muttered.
He had a nightmare last night, one as bad as the first one that he had gotten, and this time it made his heart race even more because the time had actually come for it to happen.
He pulled himself up from the bed only to see his maids standing there already.
"You guys are already in?" he asked.
"You have not slept in the manor for many months now, so when we finally see you, it’s only expected that we take measures to ensure you feel comfortable," Mary said.
"Tch, anything you do will not keep me here longer than I need to be," Leon said. He walked into the bathroom and had a bath. He stepped out, and they already had clothes lined out for him.
"I’m not wearing any of that," he said, barely looking at the noble clothes they had laid out. He got into his shirt and pants, put on his boots, and finally his coat.
Tresha and Mary looked at him with genuine sadness in their eyes.
"Young master, please, even if it’s for this day alone, can you wear something of nobility?" Mary asked.
"I’m not doing that. You should know by now," Leon said and walked out of his room while they followed behind.
"What are your plans for the day, young master?"
"Nothing much, leave here and head to check out some things in the town."
"You are leaving again?"
"I never said I was staying. I just need to find Mum," he said casually and walked to his mother’s room, but on the way there, he saw William.
Dressed completely from head to toe in pristine noble clothes. His hair was sleeked back and clean compared to Leon’s rough look.
They had not properly seen each other in years, and this was the first time they would talk.
"If it is not my brother," William said with a smile.
"It’s been a while, William. How have you been?" Leon asked.
"Better than you can imagine. While you were busy running all around, I was busy putting in the work, and I am now mastering one-star spells and about to start two-star spells," William spoke with pride in his eyes and pride rolling down his lips.
"Tch, and that’s what you have to tell me? You are not yet worth the time," Leon said and walked past, causing William to react in rage.
"I know you can tell I am greater now and you are nothing but the dust beneath me. The next time that you see me, I’ll be ahead of you even more!" He yelled at Leon, but Leon ignored him.
William raged, but he could not do anything about it aside from watching Leon walk off.
Leon found his mother’s room. He knocked twice on the door.
"Come in," he heard her soft voice from inside.
Leon pushed the door open and walked in. His mother was seated on the bed with two knitting pins in her hands. She knitted something that he did not know what it was yet.
"Hey, Mother," Leon came in with a smile and a greeting.
"I heard you slept here yesterday," she said as she placed down her pins and got on her feet. She walked over to him and placed her hands on his shoulder.
"Every time that I see you, you’ve managed to grow even more. I can barely recognize my son," his mother said, and then she hugged him tight.
She stepped back after the hug and then looked at him.
"But I know that you did not come here simply to see everyone. You have rarely done that in the last five years. I know, I am your mother.
So what is it? What made you come back?" She asked as she picked up her knitting pins and went back to work.
"Tch, there is no hiding anything from you, is there, Mother?" Leon asked.
"Nope. It’s my duty to read everything that’s wrong with you and help you handle it," she explained.
"Sigh. Mother, today in a few hours’ time, something dangerous might happen all around town, and you have to keep yourself safe and hidden.
This might be extremely dangerous or nothing at all, but I have a feeling it will be dangerous, and so I am asking you to stay safe and inside for me, Mother."
She looked at him with a bit of confusion and then finally proceeded to ask what was on her mind.
"You said something bad was coming to the town. Why not inform your father or the entire town so they can defend themselves?" His mother suggested. She had come to learn that when Leon said something, it was because he was certain of it.
"I can’t do that, Mother. Like I said before, it might, the uncertainty is great, and I simply wanted to ensure that you were extra safe."
He explained to her everything as best as he could without giving off valuable information about the pillar or his system.
After talking with his mother for a bit, he finally left and headed downstairs. There was no more time to waste. It was time to head over to the pillar and see what was going to happen.
He got there and Snow was waiting for him outside the manor.
"Took you a bit," she said.
"My mum got carried away as we spoke."
With that, they moved out of the house and headed out of town, but at the same time they were followed my someone, someone that his step mother has hired and this time this person was leagues above the person that had first tried to assasinate them.
So good that even Snow and Leon could not sense the person. The shadow also kept a very large distance between them to ensure that he was not caught.
