Searanox arrived at the top floor of the tower in a flash of violet light, his form materializing from the energy permeating the structure. The sudden appearance sent ripples across the polished marble floor, reflecting the early morning sunlight that poured through the grand windows.

He immediately spotted a figure standing close to the central node, her silhouette framed by the pulsating blue light of the system node serving as the heart of his city. The figure shifted, turning slowly as if sensing his presence, revealing Vanessa. Her simple attire contrasted sharply with the technological grandeur of the room.

"Lord Searanox, could I have a moment of your time?" Vanessa's soft voice cut through the silent hall bathed in early sunlight. Her voice trembled despite her attempt to maintain composure; the acoustics of the vast chamber carried each word with crystalline clarity.

He turned toward her as he walked toward his chambers, his armored boots making soft clicking sounds against the marble. "It's quite late. If you keep it short, I don't see a problem with it." His voice held its usual detached quality, though there was a faint undertone of curiosity as he noticed the unusual vulnerability in her posture.

She approached with small steps—deliberate yet hesitant, as if testing the boundaries of her daring. The distance between them closed slowly, tension building until she stood just before him, close enough to feel the warmth radiating from him.

"I know you don't find my body appealing. You made that clear," she said. "But I want you to... to have me. I just want to be safe. I want to be yours, like the others." Her voice trembled. She held back tears, the moisture glistening in her eyes in the soft light.

"Vanessa, I wouldn't have brought you to me if I didn't think I would find enjoyment in your body. The day has a limited amount of hours, even for me. I can't invest all my time indulging in all of you." He stopped, his gaze sweeping over her with an intensity that made her breath catch. The early light caught the edges of his body, highlighting the scars that marked his skin.

She slowly wrapped her arms around him and pulled herself closer, the fabric of her simple armor whispering against the skin of his bare chest. Her body molded against his, seeking comfort in an embrace that represented both protection and imprisonment. "Just once, I want to know. I want to know why they say all these things about you." Her voice was barely above a whisper, filled with a desperate curiosity that bordered on obsession.

He stroked her hair gently, his fingers tangling in the soft strands as he tilted her chin up with surprising tenderness. The kiss was light, almost chaste—a contrast to the raw power he had displayed earlier with Kylith.

"You are quite beautiful when you show your vulnerable side. But my bed is full right now," he said. "You may crawl into it whenever you wish, and when there is space." His arms pressed her tightly against him. She shivered as she molded further against him, the contact sending conflicting signals of comfort and dominance through her body.

She got on her tiptoes and kissed him more deeply before pulling away, her breath coming in soft pants as she searched his face for any sign of genuine emotion. "I would like for you to call for me," her voice was hesitant but firm. "You don't want a warm body... you want us as some sort of collection that only belongs to you."

The insight in her voice was startling. It cut through the facade of her vulnerability, revealing a keen understanding of his nature that perhaps even he hadn't fully articulated.

"I won't call for you. If you wish to share my bed, you have to come willingly." His touch lingered on her cheek for a moment longer before he pulled away, the brief warmth of his skin a fleeting sensation against her flesh. "Go to bed now."

"I already slept..." Vanessa whispered, the words hanging between them—a desperate admission of her anticipation.

Searanox turned his head one last time with a soft smile. "Then why don't you help with something else?" He pulled multiple envelopes from the storage ring. Each bore a broken wax seal with noble crests unfamiliar to her. He followed it with a few scrolls, their surfaces bearing a faint shimmer. "I will await your findings on them."

"Where did you get these?" she asked, taking the documents, her fingers brushing against his in a touch she intentionally prolonged. The papers felt cool and heavy in her hands.

"Don't bother with it. It's nothing you have to concern your pretty head with," Searanox whispered before opening the door to his chambers and entering silently. The heavy stone door swung shut with a soft thud, sealing him away from her sight and questions.

The inside of his bedchambers was darker than the opulent hall. The window curtains were drawn, letting in minimal light and creating a sanctuary of shadow that clung to the corners of the room. The air was warm, scented with lingering traces of sweat, intimacy, and something distinctly furry.

On the bed, two distinct forms moved as the door shut, their shapes barely visible beneath the velvet sheets.

"You said before sunrise," a pouty voice filtered through the dim light. The familiar tones carried a mixture of accusation and longing that only those who shared his bed could understand.

Searanox chuckled softly as he climbed onto the bed, the mattress dipping beneath his weight as he settled between them. He was immediately pinned down by a soft, furry body. Iris shifted possessively over him, her dark fur brushing against his skin as she laid claim to her territory.

A smaller, lighter form pressed against him from the other side. Sarah's head lay on his shoulder, her fingers slowly sliding down his chest as she nuzzled against him in a manner suspiciously similar to Iris—almost imitative, yet distinctly different in its gentle submission.

"I won't sleep today. You two can cuddle up, but when you wake, I won't be there," he said, stroking both of them. His fingers traced patterns through Iris's fur and Sarah's platinum blonde hair, the contrasting textures registering against his skin.

<Have you learned something from the small one?>

Iris asked over their telepathic link, the question laced with an undercurrent of territorial concern.

Searanox pulled her body closer. Her tail thrashed behind her as his fingers dug into her rear, the possessive gesture eliciting a low growl from her throat—half pleasure, half warning.

<Very much. I believe she will make a great addition.>

His mental voice carried the detached analytical quality she'd come to recognize from his assessments, even in these intimate moments.

Her muzzle brushed against his neck before giving it a soft nibble, the graze of her canines sending shivers down his spine.

<You plan on feeding her more, don't you?>

He could feel the longing in her thoughts, the fear that her unique position as his creation was being diluted.

<I could smell something on you that I haven't for quite a while.>

<And what would that be, my dear?>

Searanox asked while Sarah's hand moved even lower on his abdomen, her fingers tracing lazy circles that stirred something primal within him. His fingers curled into her soft body and pulled Sarah closer before kissing her head. "Not now, dear." The gentle rejection was tempered by the way he held her, his arms creating a cage of warmth that paradoxically spoke of both possession and protection.

She lifted her head and kissed him before whispering, "I want you to feel good." Her voice was thick with sleep and desire.

His fingers moved slowly on her nape, the delicate bones beneath his touch feeling impossibly fragile. "I already feel good by you being close."

<You had the same scent on you as you became a Progenitor and I curled up against you the first night.>

Her nibbling became more intent, her claw scraping slowly over his chest, leaving faint red trails that would fade by morning.

<You wanted her more than you wanted one of them... I can smell and see it every day, the way you look at the tower staff, Sarah, and the others... even random Awakened. But not as intensely as with her.>

The raw honesty of her mental words cut through the physical sensations around him, exposing the complex web of desire and strategy governing his interactions.

<Iris, honey, she won't replace you.>

The endearment felt foreign on his mental tongue, a rare concession to emotional vulnerability he used sparsely.

<You say that now, but you grow your harem little by little.>

Her response was immediate, the bitterness like acid across their link. She shifted against him, her body language expressing what her words couldn't fully convey—the fear of becoming just another conquest in a growing collection.

Searanox tilted her chin up, bringing it away from his neck and forcing her to meet his gaze in the dim light filtering through the heavy curtains.

<You will always be my good girl.>
