"Iris, you have a dungeon to clear and a new skill to train with. I'll see you later."

He pressed a quick, firm kiss to her forehead. A gesture that was dismissive and absolute in its finality. As Iris vanished with a fluid grace through the arched entrance leading back into the inner city, Searanox slowly turned back to the four trembling human women. His pale face was an unreadable mask.

"But you are not entirely wrong, Vanessa," he said, his deep voice cutting sharply through the tense silence of the chamber. "With only a few hours remaining and the Guardian already dead, clearing the entire floor yourselves is impossible. I will accompany you. You will hunt the beasts near the entrance while my drones handle the deeper sections. Invite me to your party."

The command came with detached finality. It was not an offer, it was an inescapable order.

The words struck the corporate woman with literal physical force. Vanessa's sharp mind reeled, struggling to process this sudden reversal. He wasn't sending them to blindly die. He was actually coming with them? The sheer, overwhelming implications of his direct involvement, and of him deploying his magitech drones alongside them, sent tremors through her entire body.

A translucent blue system window materialized in his vision as the party invitation pinged.

"So... Vanessa isn't the actual leader," he murmured softly, a smirk tugging at the corner of his lips as he mentally accepted the request. His gaze drifted slowly over to Carmen, who was still studying the polished marble floor with an unnerving intensity.

To the left of his vision, the names of the four women aligned themselves into a familiar party roster—a persistent visual mechanic from his gaming past that he still couldn't fully reconcile with his current reality. The distinct absence of traditional health and mana bars still nagged at his mind, despite how many times he had seen the interface.

"Let's go," he commanded.

As Vanessa, Sarah, and Lana moved hurriedly, almost desperately toward the swirling green gate, Searanox reached out his hand and physically stopped Carmen, placing a firm, unyielding grip on her abdomen. When the roaring portal swallowed the last of their group, only the two of them remained standing in the echoing chamber.

"Honey," he said softly, his voice a low, dangerous purr. "Is there something you want to tell me?"

Carmen flinched, as if she had been physically struck. Her head snapped up from her intense study of the marble floor. Her dark eyes were blown wide with a primal fear so profound it seemed to actively swallow the ambient light around her. She opened her mouth to speak, but no words came out only a pathetic gasp. Her slender, fragile body trembled uncontrollably under the weight of his undivided attention, the scrutiny she had so desperately tried to avoid.

Searanox watched her in silence, his expression unreadable. He saw not just a terrified, broken girl, but a sharp mind racing, actively calculating, trapped hopelessly behind a wall of paralyzing fear. He reached out not with force, but with deliberate slowness and gently tilted her chin up with two fingers, forcing her to meet his gaze. The touch on her skin was surprisingly warm against her chilled, trembling jaw.

"Speak," he commanded. His voice was low, vibrating straight through her bones. The single word wasn't a mere request; it was a forced escape from the protective silence she had carefully built around herself.

A single, hot tear escaped her wide eyes, tracing a glistening, wet path down her cheek.

"I... I don't know what to say," she finally managed to choke out, her voice a fragile, broken whisper. "I'm grateful. I truly am. For the skills, the armor... for not just letting us die down there. But I'm also so scared. I am terrified. Of you. Of this horrific place. Of absolutely everything."

She swallowed hard, her composure actively crumbling as more tears followed, her suppressed words finally tumbling out in a desperate torrent of conflicted emotion.

"And I feel so entirely useless! All I can do is stitch broken flesh back together while the others risk everything to fight. I see how you look at the others... how you look at Iris... and I wonder... if a girl like me could ever... ever be someone you... you'd..."

His thumb softly, gently brushed her cheek wiping away the wet tear.

"Could ever be someone I'd want?" he finished for her, a strange, almost tender look softening his eyes. "Carmen, you are the only one among them who seems to fundamentally understand that true value isn't strictly measured in bloodshed, but in results. You keep my assets functional. That makes you incredibly valuable to me. Never, ever think otherwise."

He leaned closer, his lips nearly brushing the shell of her ear, sending a shiver through her entire body.

"As for what you can be for me... that is a question you will have to find the courage to ask, when you truly want the answer."

Without another word, he released her and stepped smoothly through the swirling portal. He left Carmen standing alone in the echoing silence, her sharp mind reeling from the exhilarating possibility he had just casually offered her. A single, shaky breath escaped her parted lips before she gathered her courage and followed him directly into the nightmare of the Labyrinth.

The rocky plateau of the first floor instantly materialized around her. The white sun cast long, unforgiving shadows across the desolate landscape. The other three women stood nearby, their faces hard and pale with terror, yet their eyes were resolved. Searanox stood slightly apart from them.

"Listen very carefully," his deep voice cut effortlessly through the air. He laid out their parameters with cold precision:

Target Selection: You will strictly hunt the Stonehide Striders.

Combat Tactics: Stay mobile at all times. Use the uneven terrain to your advantage and focus your strikes on their softer, unarmored underbellies.

Threat Avoidance: Do not engage the packs of Ridgeback Ravagers unless it is necessary.

"I will handle everything else," he concluded.

As he spoke the final word, he casually summoned a sleek recon drone. It darted out across the vast expanse with an eerie silent speed, its polished metallic form rapidly disappearing into the reddish haze. Then, with a series of flickers of blue light, a second wave of combat drones materialized into existence around him. They were sleek and heavily armed with beam cannons. The raw, power actively radiating from the magitech constructs was terrifying to behold.

His gaze flicked briefly to the timer counting down in the top right corner of his vision, just as the combat drones he had summoned fanned out and vanished into the distance.

"Your five hours begin now. Go."

The sharp command broke their lingering paralysis. Vanessa moved first, her face set in a hard mask of grim determination, ensuring each step she took was without waste. Sarah and Carmen rapidly fell into a practiced, tight formation right behind her while Lana took the front. Searanox fell into a slow, casual step behind them, exactly as he had in the howling cavern days ago. His imposing presence was a constant weight pressing at their backs.

After a few minutes of marching, Sarah slowly matched his pace, dropping back until she was walking beside his armored frame. She hesitated visibly before speaking.

"Lord Searanox," she began nervously. "Why aren't you using your travel drone? You normally would."

His eyelid twitched a barely perceptible reaction to the annoying reminder of the system restriction currently placed upon him. He tilted his head slightly toward her.

"Because I simply enjoy walking," he lied smoothly. The words came out slightly clipped laced with a annoyance he couldn't fully conceal.

Sarah immediately dropped her gaze back to her boots, a uncomfortable silence falling directly between them for several long steps.

Then, her head snapped up, her eyes wide.

"I'm... I'm getting experience," she breathed.

Vanessa's tight formation came to a sudden chaotic halt. Sarah's loud outburst cut through the silence of the rocky plateau like a gunshot. The other three women whirled around instantly, their faces a rapid mixture of sheer shock and sudden realization as they checked their own interfaces.

Searanox stopped walking as well, a slow smile spreading across his lips.

"Finally. You are actually starting to see the bigger picture," he said, his deep voice laced with amusement. "You are here to gain experience while you clear the floor."

"But... but the numbers are so small," Sarah said, looking out into the hazy distance where his autonomous drones had already disappeared to wage their mechanical war.

Searanox reached out his armored hand and casually patted the top of her blonde head. A gesture that somehow felt simultaneously deeply patronizing and intimate.

"That is to be expected. Low-level beasts yield low-level experience. If you genuinely want to level up fast, you have to take risks by fighting vastly stronger beasts."

"I will do that," Sarah stated firmly, her jaw setting as she confidently resumed her march forward. "I want to become your best asset."

"Don't be an idiot, Sarah," Vanessa snapped, her voice sharp as she too started walking again, her eyes scanning for Striders. "We are absolutely not, going to intentionally fight the Ravagers."

"I didn't ask for your input, Vanessa," Sarah retorted coldly, not even bothering to turn her head.

Searanox chuckled, the deep sound vibrating in his chest. "I wasn't talking about the Ravagers. If you want to power-level, you have to fight the beasts of the second and third floor."

All four women instantly stopped walking again, turning to stare at him in absolute horror.

Vanessa's face was the perfect, pale mask of disbelief. "You... you want us to go down there? Alone?" Her voice cracked on the last word, the fragile composure she so desperately clung to starting to fracture. "Even if we successfully clear this floor, that's... that's literal suicide!"

"That is why we won't go down there today. We don't have the necessary time to actually grind there effectively anyway. Even with my help, how much experience could we possibly farm in a few hours?"

He smoothly took his hand off Sarah's head, his eyes scanning the hazy horizon.

"According to Iris, new dungeons will appear across the planet with the upcoming second mana infusion. That is precisely where you will power-level. After Iris and I have cleared them and secured them ourselves, of course."

He left the unspoken meaning hanging thickly in the air. The only path to true, actual power in this world was the one he violently paved with the blood of beasts, and they could only follow in his wake after he had made sure it was safe.
