Searanox stood in silence for several long minutes, his neck craned back as he studied the impossible geometry of the city. In the distance, the massive outer walls loomed like the edges of the world, while the central tower pierced the swirling clouds like a needle of dark stone. Around him, the masses of survivors he had protected were caught in a cacophony of heated, panicked conversation. Their voices rose and fell in waves of speculation, fear, and desperate hope.

Feeling the weight of their collective gaze—a mixture of reverence and primal terror—Searanox broke away from the crowd. He didn't want their gratitude, and he certainly didn't want to explain the monster they had seen in the plaza. He began to walk toward the outer walls, his boots crunching on the dry, packed earth that had replaced the ruins of the old world.

Iris followed him immediately, her footsteps light and rhythmic. She said nothing, sensing the volatile state of his mind. Behind him, his drones hovered in a protective semi-circle until he realized they were still active. With a flick of his wrist and a sharp mental command, he recalled them, seeking a moment of relative normalcy.

When he finally reached the base of the high walls, he stopped. Constructed from the same seamless dark granite as his guild tower, the bulwark was a marvel of terrifying engineering. His gaze swept upward, searching for a brick, a seam, or a structural weakness. There were none. The entire wall was a single, monolithic piece of stone, cold to the touch and radiating a faint, humming power. Standing before it was an exercise in insignificance; the long shadow the wall cast wasn't just a lack of light—it felt substantial, as if the darkness itself had weight. It seemed as though the sun's rays couldn't even reach the base of the stone, swallowed by the shadow of the Magitech star fortress.

Searanox took off his shades, his eyes adjusting to the artificial twilight of the wall's shadow. It felt as if night had arrived hours early. The paved road that had materialized with the city ended abruptly against the dark expanse of the wall, its surface interrupted only by geometric lines that pulsed with an occasional, rhythmic glow of violet energy.

"Is this... normal?" he asked, his voice sounding small against the silence of the stone.

Iris shifted behind him. She had turned back to look at the others—Samantha, Rayan, and the four women—who were following at a respectful, fearful distance.

"Yes, Searanox," she replied softly. "This is considered standard on System-governed worlds. When a Node is claimed and a city is birthed, the architecture is a reflection of the Lord's power and the System’s blueprints. It is... efficient."

He turned to face her, his eyes squinted. It wasn't the irritation of the light this time; it was a deep, gnawing suspicion. "What is up with them, Iris? Rayan, Vanessa... the whole lot. They’re looking at me like I’m a ticking time bomb. They look like scared kittens waiting for the drown-bucket."

His voice was a mere whisper, barely audible over the faint breeze that brushed across the newly formed landscape.

"They are scared, Searanox..." Iris answered. Her voice held a complex blend of emotions he couldn't quite categorize—there was a hint of awe, yes, but beneath it was a tremor of genuine worry. Not for his safety, but for his soul. "They saw the fight two days ago... They saw what you became when the blood hit your tongue. You weren't... yourself. You were different."

Searanox froze. His heart skipped a beat, then hammered against his ribs.

"W—Wait a second," his voice cracked before rising in volume, echoing off the wall. "TWO DAYS AGO?!"

He didn't wait for her to confirm it. He frantically summoned his HUD, his eyes darting to the countdown timer that dictated the arrival of the next stage of the mana infusion. The numbers hit him like a physical blow, written in cold, translucent blue: 01d 18h 36m 48s.

"Right after the Gaia Turtle fell, you simply collapsed," Iris explained, her eyes downcast. "The feedback from the strain your body was under and the energy you had exerted to clear the node... it was too much. You’ve been unconscious for nearly forty-eight hours. Carmen was tasked with healing your injuries, but you simply wouldn't wake up."

She bit her tongue, stopping herself from uttering more, but the silence was more telling than words.

"Without you, the people... they panicked," she continued eventually. "The hunting teams were insufficient, even with my assistance. We had not enough food. People went hungry. It was... difficult."

As Iris spoke, Searanox noticed Vanessa turning away in the distance, her jaw tight, something glinting in her eyes that looked suspiciously like resentment tempered by fear.

"Well... I have to look into that soon," Searanox said, his tone turning somber. "I have lost quite a lot of time. Again."

He turned back to the imposing wall, masking his frustration. He hadn't missed the body language of the group behind him. There was more to the story of the last forty-eight hours than Iris was letting on, but he didn't have the mental bandwidth to interrogate them now. The 'Death Trap' he had cleared had evolved into even more responsibility.

He walked closer to the section of the paved road that led directly into the blank expanse of the wall. He remembered the massive gates from the construction vision, but here, there was only a seamless surface. However, as he drew closer, the wall reacted to his presence.

With a sound like grinding tectonic plates, the stone cracked open. A gap appeared, spanning almost a third of the wall's staggering height, growing wider with every passing second. The wall wasn't just a door; it was a sliding mechanism of unbelievable thickness. He had thought his Tower walls were thick, but they were paper-thin in comparison to this colossal bulwark. The gate was a tunnel in its own right, at least twenty meters deep.

Slowly, Searanox stepped into the open passage. Each footfall echoed in the enclosed space. As he reached the far side and stepped into the city proper, the unfiltered light of the midday sun hit him. His eyes teared up instantly, the brightness magnified by the pristine, polished stones of the city streets. He flipped down his sunglasses with a frantic motion, his breath hitching as a familiar, booming chime filled his skull.

[System Announcement]

─ The Lord of Androxis has entered his domain.

─ Finalizing the establishment of Androxis.

[System Notification]

─ Title has been granted: Lord of Androxis

─ Establish a basic set of personal law of your domain.

Searanox halted. The notification hovered in his vision, refusing to budge. A basic set of personal law? He thought about the chaos of the old world—the looting, the opportunistic killings in the streets of the ruined city. If he was going to run this place, he needed order. He didn't want to overthink it; he just wanted the basics.

`Like... no stealing or murder.` He thought, directing the mental intent toward the System interface. `Simple enough, right?`

The System responded with terrifying, mechanical speed.

[System Notification]

─ Law confirmed: No Stealing. No Murder.

─ Setting punishment due to the value of the Domain Lord...

─ Punishment set: DEATH.

`I beg your fucking pardon?`

Searanox stood paralyzed. He tried to reach out to the window, to find an 'Undo' button or a 'Negotiate' tab, but the notification was already fading, replaced by a flurry of administrative updates. The System hadn't asked for a sliding scale of justice; it had taken his suggestion and applied the most efficient, binary deterrent possible.

[System Notification]

─ Citizen governance set to System Standard.

─ Resource taxation set to System Standard.

─ Guild authority over citizens set to System Standard.

─ Military conscription set to System Standard.

─ Note: Adjustments can be performed at the Central Structure.

─ Population of Androxis commencing...

─ Inviting Individuals without faction association...

─ Current population maximum reached.

He had barely a second to process the word 'commencing' before the System's voice rang through the silent, empty streets of the city. It wasn't just in his head this time; it was a broadcast that seemed to vibrate the very air.

[System Announcement]

─ Establishment of Androxis complete.

Within the span of a heartbeat, the world changed.

The large, open plazas that had been vacant a second ago were suddenly flooded with people in a blinding flash of blue light. It was as if a thousand camera flashes had gone off at once. Huge crowds appeared from thin air, stumbling and disoriented.

Searanox watched, stunned, as 300,000 lives were deposited into his lap. The diversity of the crowd was staggering. Some were wearing simple, ragged clothing, looking like they had been plucked from the ruins of a dozen different cities. Others were partially equipped with System gear—crude leather armor or low-tier iron swords. He even saw a few faces that looked familiar from the early days of the collapse.

But then his gaze drifted to a smaller group nearby. There were young women and girls, some wearing barely anything at all. Their skin was covered in the grime of the old world, but it was the dark circles under their eyes and the fresh, salt-tracked tear streaks on their cheeks that made his gut twist. These weren't 'Awakened' heroes; these were the victims, the ones who had been hiding in basements or held in the dark by those stronger than them.

Regardless of their backgrounds, every single person shared the same expression: a paralyzing mix of astonishment and primal fear of the unknown. They looked at the towering black spires, the violet conduits, as if they had been dropped into a nightmare.

Searanox felt his head begin to shake. The sheer sensory and mental overload was reaching a breaking point. 300,000 people. Death penalties for petty theft. Two days lost.

He needed to get out of here. He needed a moment where a hundred thousand eyes weren't boring into his back.

His mind, despite its enhancements and the skills that sharpened his focus, was buckling under the flood of information. He reached out into the air, his fingers closing around the cold, hard metal of a travel drone he had summoned with a subconscious thought. Before the crowd could surge toward him, before the questions and the screams could start, he was pulled away.

The drone accelerated, carrying him high above the city. From this vantage point, the scale of Androxis was even more daunting. The open stone plazas and the lush, green parks that dotted the outer rim were now teeming with life. Thousands of people were breaking off from the main arrival points, venturing cautiously into the streets of the residential district.

As he passed over the inner wall the atmosphere changed. The light-gray streets here were deserted. This district, intended for the elite, was a void of silence. The beautiful parks and pagoda-roofed buildings stood ready, yet empty, waiting for a population that didn't yet exist.

With a soft, metallic thud, his boots touched down on the polished light gray granite of the familiar atrium. It was his sanctuary, the heart of the tower. It looked unchanged—the mountains of resources, the small partition wall sectioning off the space between the entrances, and the heavy air of Magitech power.

He walked to the center of the atrium, his hand trembling slightly as he touched the center stone of the node. The familiar blue light flared, and the menu opened. This time, however, there were no more grayed out options. Every function laid bare before him.

Searanox stared at the 'Judiciary' tab. He could almost feel the weight of the 300,000 souls outside, now living under a law that would execute them for stealing a loaf of bread. He leaned his head against the cold stone of the node, the violet light reflecting off his sunglasses.
