Chapter 803: The Poison and the Void
Chapter 803: Chapter 803: The Poison and the Void
Ethan crashed into the earth like a cannon, fracturing the rocky soil and kicking up a cloud of dust. Without breaking momentum, he threw a punch charged with energy into the empty air. Amidst the dust storm, a body was sent flying, tumbling across the rocks before slamming against a stone structure.
"Did you think you could escape?" asked Ethan, emerging from the dust.
The swordsman of the Silver Dragon Kingdom pushed himself up, coughing blood, his face pale and contorted.
"You...! It’s impossible! No one can see me in this state!" exclaimed the assassin, unable to comprehend how his technique had been shattered.
"I told you," muttered Ethan. "That little party trick is nothing to me."
Ethan closed the distance with measured steps. The presence emanating from his frame weighed on the assassin’s shoulders like a mountain.
"Wait! No, wait!" shouted the swordsman, raising his hands forward. "We have no personal grudge! Your issue is with the Silver Dragon Kingdom, not me... We can work something out..."
Ethan stopped two meters away and shook his head with contempt.
"Someone who fears death this much will never become anyone in this life," spat Ethan.
In that second of distraction, the assassin’s eyes turned unhinged. Capitalizing on the moment, his figure turned intangible as he lunged forward with a crimson dagger. His absolute silence and complete eradication of killing intent caught Ethan off guard, forcing him to tilt his neck to dodge the blade.
"Now you’re dead! Hahaha!" roared the assassin, leaping backward with a laugh. "Kneel and beg! Maybe I’ll spare your life! Hahaha!"
Ethan brought two fingers to his neck, feeling a burning sensation. The dagger had managed to scratch him, and a toxic substance was penetrating his pores, spreading through his meridians.
However, before the poison could reach his heart, the energy of the Void Body within his spiritual sea awakened. The abyssal blackness devoured the toxin, leaving no trace behind and dispelling the burn.
Ethan lowered his hand and locked his eyes on him.
"Is that all?" asked Ethan.
"What?" stammered the assassin, freezing in place. "Wait... why aren’t you begging? That’s the Heart-Devouring Poison! It has no cure... No... damn it! You’re a monster!"
"I don’t have time for this," growled Ethan.
In a flash of motion, Ethan’s hand closed around his throat, choking back his screams. With his free hand, Ethan pulled out the Orb of Death and activated the abyssal vortex. Spectral chains surged from the gem, dragging the Silver Dragon Kingdom assassin into the sphere to be consumed.
Once his enemy was devoured, Ethan stowed the relic away and turned his gaze toward the horizon, where bursts of golden light and roars continued to echo.
"I hope they managed to hold out..." whispered Ethan, vanishing into thin air as he tightened his fists. "Damn giant beast..."
The Chaotic Queen roared, yet her jaws could not crush the monk’s golden beads. However, the blind monk was sweating profusely; blood began to flow from his empty eye sockets, trickling down his cheeks.
Seeing this, the princess of the Frost Dragon Realm sensed the severity of the crisis. She rushed over to the monk, pulling out vials, pills, and potions from her spatial ring.
"Monk, what’s wrong? How can I help you?" asked the frost princess. "Take these, they will help you."
"No... I don’t need them," groaned the monk, gritting his teeth as blood dripped onto his robes. "My injuries are neither physical nor spiritual... they are of my soul. My Buddhist energy is bound to my soul; when the beast attempted to tear it away, it damaged my foundations. I won’t be able to hold her much longer, Princess. Prepare yourselves for battle."
Upon hearing this, Isabella and the Frost Dragon Princess grew serious. Isabella stepped forward, gripping her jade sword, while the frost princess made a move.
"I won’t wait for her to break free," declared the frost princess.
The frost princess soared into the heavens, and everything around her began to freeze. A snowflake of blue energy enveloped her, as an aura caused the fabric of the dimensional world to tremble.
"No! Don’t do it!" shouted the blind monk, trying to stop her in vain.
"[Descent of the Great Frost God]!" screamed the frost princess.
The snowflake shattered into a thousand pieces, and from its center, a divine, icy hand descended from the sky, striking the beast head-on. The hand made the Chaotic Queen appear small for a moment. However, the creature appeared unfazed. She opened her mouth and devoured the entire divine attack in a single gulp.
Upon digesting such an amount of elemental power, the beast’s body began to pulse with a purple hue, shattering the karma beads one by one.
"Everyone run! The calamity has awakened!" warned the blind monk.
The princess fell to her knees upon the frozen ground, staring at the sight in disbelief. That was her kingdom’s ultimate trump card—a power capable of annihilating warriors far above her own level. Yet, this abomination had devoured her sacred magic with ease.
The queen’s body shattered. From within the abomination’s remains emerged a colossal beast resembling a black mantis, complete with red eyes and purple wings pulsing with devoured energy. The creature raised its scythes toward the firmament and let out a roar that shook the foundations of the dimensional plane.
The mantis turned its head toward the blind monk. Having inherited the memories and malice of the previous queen, it recognized the one who had bound it. Without hesitating, it lunged at him with speed. Its black scythe flashed through the air, slicing space itself to behead the young Buddhist.
However, Isabella did not allow it.
Stepping in front in a flash of silver aura, Isabella intercepted the attack, blocking the scythe with her jade sword. The impact was so devastating that the shockwave pulverized the ground around them. The mantis’s brute force completely overwhelmed her defenses, sending Isabella flying through the air. Her body slammed into the earth, carving a trench along the rocky ground before coming to a stop, unconscious.
