Chapter 60: Eavesdropping

While Lan Zuancheng was observing the man, Liu Yun spotted a group of men and women not far from the queues. Wearing similar black combat uniforms, they were very eye-catching.

Although their clothes were smeared with blood and dust, their faces were clean, and their complexions looked very healthy. At a glance, Liu Yun could tell that this group of young people was strong.

The contrast between them and the other survivors was very obvious. Only those who possessed enough strength could live with dignity in the apocalypse where the strong rule the world.

As Liu Yun observed them, the group seemed to finish their discussion.

Seeing two of them walk toward Lian Tianci’s armored car, Liu Yun’s interest was piqued. She looked ahead and saw that there was still a long line in front of her.

She thought for a second, then leaned closer to Lan Zuancheng and whispered, "Elder Brother Lan, I’m going to take a walk for a moment. Please help me guard my spot."

Hearing this, Lan Zuancheng stared at her for two seconds, then pointed to an overturned truck in the distance and whispered, "I saw a lot of women going in that direction. You can go there."

Following his line of sight, Liu Yun turned toward the overturned truck and realized that he might have misunderstood her and thought she wanted to relieve herself.

Coughing lightly, Liu Yun responded in a low voice, "Thanks."

Without wasting any more time, she jogged toward the overturned truck.

Looking at Liu Yun’s hurried back, Lan Zuancheng coughed lightly and thought, ’She must have been holding it in for a long time.’

Leaving the queue, Liu Yun ran for a while, then turned around.

Seeing that Lan Zuancheng wasn’t looking in her direction, she quickly changed direction. Instead of going to the overturned truck, she sneakily moved toward Lian Tianci’s armored vehicle.

Hiding behind an abandoned car, Liu Yun pressed her body against the car as she peeked toward Lian Tianci’s armored vehicle.

Standing beside the armored car, Lian Tianci was currently talking with the two men.

"Captain Lian, we have a place we want to go. Are you interested in joining us?" asked the handsome man.

From the way the other man stood behind him, it was clear that he was the captain of the group.

Looking at the man, Lian Tianci felt that he looked familiar, but couldn’t remember where he had seen this man. After a brief moment of silence, he asked, "Who are you?"

The man smiled politely, reached out his hand toward Lian Tianci, and introduced himself. "Captain Lian, my name is Ruan Weisong, captain of the Chi Wen Team."

Lian Tianci shook his hand, then responded, "Lian Tianci. Captain of Black Tiger Rescue Team."

Gesturing toward the man standing behind him, Ruan Weisong added, "This is Yin Kaiming, vice-captain of my Chi Wen Team."

Lian Tianci nodded at Yin Kaiming, then looked at Ruan Weisong and asked, "Captain Ruan, you said that there is a place you want to go."

"Yes." Ruan Weisong spread out a map on the hood of the armored car, pointed to the red circle on the map, and explained, "We are planning to go to this place."

Looking at the map, Lian Tianci raised his brows slightly. "Isn’t this a factory warehouse area?"

"That’s right. My team surveyed this area two days ago and found that nobody had ever visited this place before. There should be a huge amount of supplies inside these warehouses."

Listening to his words, Lian Tianci stared at the map as he fell into deep thought.

Not far from them, Liu Yun overheard their conversation. When she heard that there was a factory warehouse area nearby, her mind spun rapidly as she made her plan.

Although she could buy supplies from the System Store, she was poor. If there was an opportunity to collect supplies for free, she wouldn’t miss it.

Not knowing that someone was listening to their conversation, Lian Tianci asked, "Captain Ruan, do you know what kind of supplies are inside those warehouses?"

Ruan Weisong nodded. "Of course. This warehouse area is mine. The supplies inside are also from one of my subsidiary companies, which specializes in canned food, instant food, and dried food products."

The moment his words fell, Lian Tianci raised his eyes to look at Ruan Weisong. After a brief moment of silence, he finally remembered who Ruan Weisong was.

’Turns out, he is the Ruan Group’s CEO. No wonder he has the strength to form this kind of strong team and own a few armored cars.’

A few seconds passed before Lian Tianci said, "Alright. I will personally lead my team and go with your team."

Ruan Weisong’s eyes flickered for a second when he heard this. Smiling politely, he put away the map, then said, "Very well. We will leave in twenty minutes."

"Alright."

Seeing that they had finished their discussion, Liu Yun quickly ran back to the queue.

Standing in the third line, Lan Zuancheng saw her run back and waved at her. "Younger Sister Liu, here."

Liu Yun saw him and ran toward him. Before Lan Zuancheng could say anything, Liu Yun grabbed his and Gu Zhenwei’s wrists and urgently said in a low voice, "Come with me."

Without waiting for their answer, Liu Yun pulled them along.

Following her, Gu Zhenwei pointed toward the queue and curiously asked, "Younger Sister Liu, where are we going? We aren’t joining the searching team anymore?"

"I have a better place in mind to find more supplies," Liu Yun answered without looking at him.

Sensing her urgency, Lan Zuancheng didn’t ask anything and followed her in silence.

After running for a few minutes, Liu Yun pulled the two of them behind the abandoned car where she had hidden before.

With the two of them squatting beside her, she craned her neck. Seeing that Lian Tianci was busy briefing his subordinates, Liu Yun let out a sigh of relief.

Looking at her suspicious behavior, Lan Zuancheng finally asked in a low voice, "Younger Sister Liu, what are we doing here?"
