Chapter 122: Run!

A second later, Liu Yun fell into a warm embrace and smelled the familiar scent.

Hugging Liu Yun, Ye Xuan kicked off the ground and jumped backward. Landing a few meters away from where he had been standing, Ye Xuan looked at He Lin, who was staring at him sadly.

’This bastard is still as annoying as before!’

Without wasting another second, Ye Xuan let go of Liu Yun and rushed toward He Lin. Channeling his spatial-element energy into his fingertips, Ye Xuan made a slashing motion.

Sensing the danger, He Lin leaped backward and performed several backflips.

A split second later, the space where he had been standing was distorted.

Seeing this, Liu Yun was once again reminded of Ye Xuan’s strength.

While she watched the battle, Ye Xuan made another slicing motion with his index and middle fingers.

Sensing the slight change in the air, He Lin’s expression sank. Raising his head, he glared at Ye Xuan and let out an angry roar.

"Roar!"

"Cover your ears!" Gu Lingjian ordered as he covered his own ears.

After experiencing the Mutant Rat King’s sound attack and the Mutant Queen’s screams, Liu Yun didn’t want to experience another sound attack. Without looking away from the battle in front of her, she covered her ears with her hands, then ran toward Gu Zhenwei and the others.

Fifty meters away, Ye Xuan’s eyes flickered coldly as murderous intent spread from his body.

Sensing his murderous intent, He Lin turned toward the nearest building. Before Ye Xuan could make his next move, He Lin turned around and ran toward the building.

Baffled by what he had just seen, Gu Zhenwei doubtfully asked, ".... Did he just run away?"

Standing beside him, Lan Zuancheng scanned the area. Two seconds later, he said, "That building is the tallest one in this area. Everyone, stay alert. He seems to have a plan."

Just as his words fell, He Lin grabbed the building’s wall and pulled himself up. Climbing like a spider, he reached the rooftop in just a few seconds.

"Grass! He climbed so fast!" Gu Zhenwei exclaimed in shock.

Looking at the rooftop, Ye Xuan saw He Lin close his eyes. At this sight, Ye Xuan suddenly turned around and ran back toward Liu Yun and the others.

"Run!"

When they heard this, Gu Zhenwei grabbed Liu Yun’s wrist and ran away with the others.

Standing on the rooftop, He Lin suddenly opened his eyes. Looking at Ye Xuan and the others running away, he raised his right hand and pointed at them.

Glancing behind him, Qiu Sixun saw what he was doing. "What is he doing?"

Ye Xuan ran faster while replying, "Keep running!"

As a wind-element ability user, Lu Shen could control the wind. Sensing the change in the wind around them, his heart sank.

"Be careful! I sense something dangerous coming!"

Just as his words fell, the ground trembled slightly. As the trembling grew stronger by the second, the pungent smell of rotten meat in the air also became stronger.

All of them were very familiar with this scene. Even as a newcomer to the Apocalypse World, Liu Yun knew that this pungent smell was zombies’ exclusive perfume.

Breathing heavily, she glanced behind her and saw dust floating up. Her pupils constricted at the sight as she screamed inwardly, ’No way! I shouldn’t be this unlucky, right?!’

Running at the back of the group, Gu Lingjian turned around. When he saw the zombie horde, he urged, "Run faster! It’s a zombie horde!"

When his words fell, Liu Yun’s heart sank as well. Half-pulled by Gu Zhenwei and half-running on her own, she screamed in tears, ’Grass! I’m really unlucky!’

While they were running for their lives, He Lin stood on the tallest building’s rooftop and watched them in silence. When he saw Ye Xuan kill a group of zombies using his spatial-element ability, he frowned slightly in doubt.

Rubbing his chin, He Lin thought for a moment, then jumped down from the building. As he secretly followed Ye Xuan and the others, he carefully observed them.

As the seconds passed, his expression changed from doubt to confusion, then became filled with interest.

Not knowing that He Lin had blended into the zombie horde and was secretly observing them, Ye Xuan quickly recalled the map Lian Tianci had shown them earlier.

He scanned the surroundings, then said, "Follow me! The second exit point is only 500 meters away from here!"

When he said this, everyone quickly changed direction and followed Ye Xuan. With him leading the way, the others killed zombies while running.

A few minutes later, Liu Yun felt her body become heavy, and her lungs felt as if they were about to explode. Knowing this was a sign that her stamina had been depleted, she quickly took out a bottle of Energy Water from her inventory.

Pulling her wrist out of Gu Zhenwei’s hold, she opened the bottle and drank the Energy Water in one breath.

Turning to look at her, Gu Zhenwei saw this.

"Younger Sister Liu, can you still drink water in this situation?" he asked with a hint of admiration in his voice.

Liu Yun put the empty bottle into her pocket as she nodded. A second later, the bottle turned into particles and disappeared.

Looking at Gu Zhenwei’s face, which was covered in sweat, and listening to his heavy breathing, Liu Yun took out another bottle of Energy Water and shoved it into his hand.

"Drink it!"

Gu Zhenwei grinned, opened the lid, then drank the Energy Water without hesitation.

Glug... glug... glug...!

After swallowing the entire bottle of Energy Water, Gu Zhenwei licked his lips and thought, ’It tastes sweeter than mineral water.’

Afraid that the bottle would disappear in front of everyone, Liu Yun quickly grabbed the empty bottle from Gu Zhenwei’s hand, then shoved it into her pocket.

Coming out of his thoughts, Gu Zhenwei looked at Liu Yun in surprise but said nothing.

A few moments later, the group finally saw the exit.

"You guys climb out first! We will guard the rear!" Gu Lingjian shouted, then turned around to face the zombies.

Knowing that she was the weakest in the group, Liu Yun didn’t reject his suggestion and quickly climbed over the tall metal fence.

Kicking off the ground, Ye Xuan grabbed the metal fence and pulled himself up. Flipping through the air, he landed lightly on top of the metal fence.

Seeing that Liu Yun was lagging behind the others, he reached toward her and shouted, "Quick! Grab my hand!"

Liu Yun gritted her teeth, then reached toward his hand. Just as her hand was about to touch Ye Xuan’s, she suddenly felt dizzy and lost her grip on the metal fence.

Ye Xuan’s eyes widened at the sight, but before he could react, a shadow flashed by and disappeared with Liu Yun.

Gu Zhenwei’s eyes widened in shock at this sight. "Younger Sister Liu!"

Squatting on top of the metal fence, Ye Xuan’s eyes turned cold. His jaw tightened as he scanned the surroundings, trying to find Liu Yun. However, he couldn’t sense her presence at all.

Clenching his fists, he looked at the tallest building in the area. When he didn’t see He Lin there, Ye Xuan’s heart sank.

’It’s him! He is the one who kidnapped Liu Yun!’

As this thought appeared in his mind, Ye Xuan jumped down from the metal fence without hesitation.

"Brother Xuan, where are you going?!" Qiu Sixun called out to him, but Ye Xuan ignored him.

Stepping on the zombies’ heads, Ye Xuan rushed toward the tallest building and soon disappeared into the zombie horde.
