System Awakened: I Became the Mafia Kings' Obsession
Chapter 27: What kind of bra do you wear?
"I... I..." Alan stammered, completely tongue-tied.
Nova chuckled. "It’s fine, I don’t mind anyway. I’ll just change here," she said casually.
Before Alan could process her words, she untied the towel wrapped around her body and tossed it aside. Clad in only her lower underwear, she pulled the green shirt over her head.
"You... you’re not changing right there behind me, are you?" Alan asked, his face burning hot, not daring to turn around and take a glance.
"I just did," Nova replied calmly. "All done."
Alan turned around to look at her, but his gaze immediately caught the firm outline of her breasts pressing against the thin fabric of the shirt, her nipples faintly visible.
Alan swallowed hard, immediately looking away to keep his composure. "Is she not wearing anything else underneath too?" he thought, trying his absolute best to act like a gentleman.
"You should sleep on the bed," he said, clearing his throat. "I’ll go wash your clothes now."
"No need, I already took care of them," Nova said, climbing onto the bed. "Besides, you don’t look like you’ve ever taken care of a girl before. What if you threw away my bra thinking it was a rope?"
Alan froze, staring at Nova in total disbelief. "What kind of bra do you wear?!" he blurted out, before instantly realizing how that sounded and biting his lower lip in embarrassment.
"Since you’ve already washed them, no problem then. Good night," he muttered quickly.
He walked over to his wardrobe, pulled out a large blanket, and headed for the couch. Laying down, he pulled the blanket over himself.
Nova chuckled softly. "Good night." She closed her eyes.
Alan opened his eyes for a second to glance at her. A faint, gentle smile touched his lips before he closed his eyes again, quickly drifting off into a peaceful sleep.
Once silence settled over the room and everyone was fast asleep, the room like went off, a familiar translucent screen materialized in the dark.
[Ding! System auto-upgrade in progress. Physical body attention needed. Auto-order permission countdown: 9, 8, 7, 6, 5, 4, 3, 2, 1, 0... System auto-upgrade permission completed. Auto-order permission granted.]
The moment the countdown hit zero, Nova’s body vanished from the bed, leaving only emptiness behind.
....Cassian’s Mansion....
In a quiet guest room, the black-haired young man lay still on the bed, still unconscious and covered in severe bruises. Suddenly, Nova materialized right beside him.
The large blue screen flickered back to life.
[Auto-binding to system. Code 02 starting!]
A mysterious voice echoed through the space—it sounded remarkably like Nova’s, but far more mature and authoritative.
Gravity reversed within the room. Both Nova and the red-haired young man floated into the air, suspended as violent, crackling blue light engulfed their bodies. The air thrummed with a heavy, suffocating pressure as raw system power surged between them.
Visible magic wove through the red-haired man’s body. His severe wounds stitched together at a visible rate, bruises fading and torn skin smoothing out without leaving a single scar behind. Within seconds, his pale, battered frame was restored to flawless health.
Meanwhile, Nova’s body glowed brighter, the light surrounding her intensified, causing her long, straight black hair—styled in sleek bump at the front—to float around her like a halo. The icy shroud resting on her glabella dissolved without a trace.
Then, with a sudden spark of crimson light, a single strand of her jet-black hair transformed into a vibrant red—just enough to stand out against the black. A pair of sleek, blue-framed system glasses slowly formed over her eyes, making her look even more striking, it last a few minutes before it vanished.
[System binding successfully completed. System successfully upgraded! System tasks began!]
The voice faded, and the young man was gently lowered back onto the bed.
On a nearby desk, a small white sheet of paper appeared as crisp words carved themselves line by line across the page. Once the message was complete, Nova vanished along with the glowing screen.
Moments after Nova disappeared, Cassian opened the bedroom door, accompanied by a doctor. He froze, surprised to find the young man resting peacefully with no blood or injuries in sight.
"Is this the seriously injured guy you were talking about?" the doctor asked, adjusting his white lab coat and pushing up his glasses.
"He was covered in wounds a moment ago..." Cassian replied, a wave of suspicion washing over him. "Check him anyway."
The doctor sighed, picking up his first-aid kit and stepping over to the bed. He performed a quick, thorough examination before turning back to Cassian with a puzzled look.
"He’s simply sleeping," the doctor said. "In fact, his vitals are more perfect than those of an average healthy person."
Cassian nodded slowly, his eyes drifting over to the desk. Spotting a piece of paper that hadn’t been there earlier, he walked over and picked it up.
"He will wake up tomorrow. I won’t be sleeping here tonight. I’ll come over when I’m free."
Cassian’s hand tightened around the paper as he recognized Nova’s handwriting. "Is she with Raymond?" he thought, pulling out his phone to call him. The line rang continuously, but no one picked up.
"She really is with him" Cassian clenched his fist, taking a deep breath to calm his rising jealousy. "It’s fine. I’ll just buy us a private estate. It isn’t right for my wife to be moving from one place to another like this, we all should just be living in one place."
"Cassian?" the doctor called out, breaking his train of thought.
Cassian glanced at him coldly. "Since he’s fine, you can leave."
The doctor nodded, adjusting his glasses once more. "Right... by the way, I thought you and the Prince family were bitter rivals."
Cassian narrowed his eyes. "We are. Why?"
"Prince came to me earlier asking for advice on how you managed to pursue your wife," the doctor remarked casually. "Speaking of which, since when are you married? I had no idea."
Cassian gritted his teeth, his temper flaring. "I knew that bastard was targeting my wife. It seems I need to take action first."
He cast a frigid glare at the doctor. "Now that you know I’m married, you are not allowed to come to my house without my explicit permission," Cassian stated coldly before turning on his heel and walking out.
The doctor’s jaw dropped in sheer astonishment. "Why does he sound like I’m going to steal his wife if I see her?" he muttered to the empty doorway in disbelief.
"Though... I’m honestly much more interested in this red-haired guy," he added with a soft sigh, looking back at the sleeping young man on the bed.
A charming smirk touched his lips. Setting his medical kit aside, the doctor sat down on the couch, resting his elbow on the armrest and leaning his chin against his knuckles as he watched the peaceful face on the bed.
"Well then... I guess I’ll just stay the night here," he whispered, closing his eyes with a satisfied smile.
