System Awakened: I Became the Mafia Kings' Obsession
Chapter 130: Angry Alan
Chapter 130: 130: Angry Alan
The imposter forced a bright, innocent smile. "Nothing, I just want us to go out and have some lunch together."
Alan’s expression remained perfectly flat. "I’m not interested in going out to eat. How about I drive you home, and we have lunch there?" he replied, his tone laced with boredom.
The imposter clenched her fists out of sight before stretching her lips into a wider, strained smile. "S-sure, why not? You are my fiancé, after all. But... can we go and get ice cream first?"
Alan paused, tilting his head with a look of manufactured suspicion. "You are acting weird. Since when did you like sweet things?"
The lady froze. "Is this Nova girl even human? Why is she such a difficult being? She doesn’t like sweet things either?" Panic flared in her chest, but she managed to keep her plastic smile intact. "I.. don’t, of course I don’t like sweet things, It’s... it’s not for me. I want to buy it for... a friend of mine."
Alan stared at her in dead silence for a long, suffocating moment. "My Snow loves sweet things more than anything especially chocolate" he thought.
"Ray... are you alright?" she ask, her heart pounding. "Did I mess up? Is he already suspecting me?" She thought worriedly.
"We are going home," Alan finally declared, breaking the silence. "I guess exam prep has been too much trouble for you. You aren’t in your right state of mind. Let’s go." Without waiting for a response, he turned and headed toward his parked car.
The lady gritted her teeth. She quickly pulled out her phone and dialed a secure number. As soon as the line connected, she whispered immediately, "He insisted on taking me to his house. I couldn’t get him into our vehicle. He seems suspicious of me. I blame you for not giving me full details about this girl!"
"Tsk. Ignore that, he can’t be that suspicious," a harsh male voice replied over the receiver. "Just make sure he doesn’t actually get you inside his house; it might be a trap. Knock him unconscious on the way and bring him to the basement."
"Okay," she replied. Hanging up, she rushed toward Alan’s waiting car, opened the rear door, and slid into the back seat.
Alan glanced at her through the rearview mirror, his eyes devoid of warmth. "Come sit in the front. I’m not your driver," he ordered coldly.
The lady frowned, annoyed, but she didn’t argue. She stepped out of the back and slid into the passenger seat. Alan shifted gears and pulled smoothly onto the road.
As they drove, the tension inside the cabin grew thick and suffocating. The imposter kept stealing glances at Alan, but he kept his eyes locked on the road, his jaw clenched, radiating a chilling, unapproachable aura. "What is wrong with him? Is the relationship between him and Nova not that good? Forget it, I should just focus on the mission," she thought.
Slowly, she slipped a white, chemically soaked handkerchief from her pocket. Waiting for a stretch of empty road, she suddenly lunged across the center console, aiming to press the cloth over Alan’s face.
Before she could even bridge the gap, a blinding blue barrier erupted around Alan’s body. The kinetic backlash was instantaneous and violent. The barrier repelled her with the force of a sledgehammer, throwing her backward. Her head slammed heavily against the passenger window, shattering the tempered glass into a spiderweb of cracks.
Alan had anticipated an attack, but even he was slightly surprised by the sudden activation of the protective box. He didn’t flinch. Instead of pulling over, his foot slammed the accelerator to the floor. The engine roared as the car surged forward, speeding in the exact opposite direction of the estate.
Groaning in agony, the lady clutched the side of her bleeding head. The brutal impact had disrupted her synthetic disguise; her face was now crooked, the false skin melting and contorting into a miserable, horrifying mess.
"You... you already knew..." she stuttered, her ruined face making her expression look monstrous.
Alan cast a dark, devilish smirk in her direction. "You actually thought I wouldn’t recognize you just because you’re wearing my wife’s face? What a joke."
"Damn it!" the imposter cursed under her breath, desperately lunging toward the center console to grab her bag and call for backup.
Alan anticipated the move. With lightning reflexes, he snatched the bag with one hand and tossed it into the backseat before she could even touch it.
Infuriated and desperate, the lady lunged at Alan with her bare hands. Once again, the blue barrier flared. An invisible, crushing gravity slammed into her chest, forcing her back into her seat. She violently coughed up a mouthful of blood, her ribs groaning under the oppressing pressure radiating from the invisible barrier.
"What is going on here? I can’t even touch him!" she panicked, wiping blood from her chin. Looking out the window at the blurring landscape, pure dread washed over her. "I am dead for sure if he takes me to wherever we are going."
Bracing herself, she unbuckled her seatbelt and grabbed the door handle, intending to throw herself out of the moving vehicle.
"Not happening, bastard," Alan sneered. He yanked the steering wheel hard to the right. The tires shrieked against the asphalt as the car swerved violently. The intense centrifugal force threw the lady away from the door, slamming her forcefully back into the center console.
"Stop the car right now!" she screamed, true terror finally breaking through her professional facade.
Alan’s smirk deepened. He ignored her entirely, shifting gears and pushing the speedometer well past the redline. The scenery outside became a dizzying blur.
"I said stop the car!" she shrieked, entirely losing her mind. In a final, suicidal attempt, she threw her entire body weight toward the steering wheel, trying to crash the vehicle.
The moment she breached Alan’s airspace, the protective barrier hummed with lethal intensity. A shockwave of blue energy blasted through her. The impact ruptured her internal organs. She vomited a massive spray of blood across the dashboard, her eyes rolling back into her head as she instantly lost consciousness, slumping uselessly into the footwell.
Alan glanced down at her limp body and hissed in disgust. Pushing the engine to its absolute limit, he sped toward his true destination.
Shortly after, the car arrived at a massive, heavily fortified villa hidden in the hills. The towering iron gates detected his vehicle and opened automatically. Alan drove into the compound, parking smoothly near the entrance.
He stepped out of the car, his expression glacial. Walking around to the passenger side, he yanked the door open, grabbed the unconscious imposter by her blood-matted hair, and ruthlessly dragged her out of the vehicle.
The heavy front doors of the villa swung open, and several men stepped out, their faces lighting up with respect.
"Boss!"
"Boss, you’re back!"
Alan gave a single, curt nod and walked straight past them, dragging the bleeding woman across the pristine concrete by her hair. His subordinates stared in momentary shock at the ruined, unconscious woman trailing behind him, but quickly recovered and followed him inside, bolting the heavy doors shut.
Inside the grand foyer, Alan carelessly tossed the woman’s limp body onto the marble floor. He walked over to a luxurious leather couch and sat down. Immediately, one of his men stepped forward, offering a clean towel.
Alan took it, meticulously wiping the blood and grime from his fingers before tossing the soiled cloth directly onto the imposter’s face.
"Boss, this lady..." one of the men, Curry, started, squinting at the woman’s distorted, half-melted features.
Alan’s brows knitted in profound disgust. "Investigate her background for me, Curry," he ordered, his voice echoing like ice in the large room.
Curry nodded sharply and retrieved a tactical laptop. He knelt beside the woman, forcefully pressing her thumb against a portable biometric scanner to run her prints through the underworld databases.
Alan leaned back into the couch, his blue eyes fixed on the bleeding imposter with a promise of absolute hell. "Junior."
"Yes, Boss?"
"Get me a heavy-grade, five-tail whip. And a bucket of ice-cold water."
