Chapter 174: Only connection

As soon as they had gotten to the palace, Elias had walked away earlier. He passed the training yard and saw Quil sparring with Brin, Rona and Fin.

They were all coming at him at once.

He walked into the yard. As soon as he drew their attention, the fight stopped.

“Irue!” His siblings chorused. They dashed to him and jumped into his arms.

“Where have you been since yesterday?!” Brin asked. “Who’s that that you brought back?”

“You’re already seeing that far.” He raised a brow. “He’s your uncle…I think.”

“Uncle? He’s my age.”

“Odd right?” Elias patted her head before walking away.

The children ran to see the visitor while Quil followed him.

“Where have you been?”

“Went to harvest someone.”

Quil chuckled. “You can’t harvest someone Elias.”

“Well, I did.”

They passed by the place where Elias had come from, and they could see people staring at Muon, eyes wide and mouths apart.

“I bet he said something suprising.” Quil muttered. “Is it just me, or does he look like the boy in the monastery drawings?”

“It’s him.” Elias replied.

“Oh? I see.”

“The child yesterday,” Elias stopped. “what was he named?”

“Arthur.”

He nodded and continued moving.

Quil raised a brow. “Why are you interested in his name?”

He didn’t expect Elias to answer, and Elias truly didn’t reply. They entered the grand palace, where Richard was having a conversation with Gal, his trusted partner.

Elias casually took a seat, while Quil wandered off. “Father, how are we going to entertain our visitors?”

Richard glanced at him and tilted his head. “How many did you sense?”

“A hundred and eighty five.” Elias mumbled. “They brought some pretty strong people with them.”

Gal glanced between both of them. “We have intruders?”

“For about a few days already.” Richard replied.

“My liege!” Gal furrowed his brow. “Why didn’t you say anything about it?!”

“What’s the point of rushing?” Richard tilted his head. “We should let them show their hands first.”

“Won’t they wipe out half the city before they show their hands?!”

Richard glanced at Elias.

“Would they?”

“No.”

“Then we’ll wait for them to show their hands.” Richard concluded.

They had a few minutes of conversation before Muon’s voice echoed in the hallway. He pushed the door and strolled in.

“Wow…the palace changed so much!”

He twirled around.

Gal immediately stood up. “Welcome back, sir Muon.”

“Gal! Is that you? You’re still alive too.”

Elias had already stood up and began leaving. As he passed by Muon, the boy waited and turned around, looking at him till he was out of sight.

“Richard, what’s the deal with your son?”

“What do you mean?”

Muon matched to him. “Don’t play dumb with me. Why is Myai’s soul merged with his?”

“Beats me. She’s his mother.” Richard shrugged.

“Oh I see, she’s his…. WHAT?! YOU MARRIED MYAI?!”

Richard scratched his ear, with indifference in his gaze.

“You…and Myai?!” Muon continued to rant. “You don’t even interact one bit. How did it happen? Were you secretly in love with her?!”

Richard sighed. “I was hoping your brain would grow even if you didn’t.”

“Forget my brain! I’m talking about you and Myai!” Muon began to hop. “Tell me! Were you secretly in love with her?! You even had a chi—”

He paused. His hands slowly stopped flapping. In a much calmer tone, he said.

“You even had a child together…”

He blinked once. “What happened when I was asleep?”

He began to pace. “keeping a child like that inside a world like this is already breaking the balance. You know that, but you’re doing it.”

He glanced at Richard. “Can he leave this world?”

“No.” Richard took a drag out of the cigar. “He’s bound to three worlds. Qld, Nafela and black.”

“Mostly black,” Muon muttered.

“Yes.”

“What happens when he goes outside these worlds?”

“…”

Richard shrugged slightly. “Ninety nine percent chance of death.”

Muon brow furrowed.

“You—”

“It seems something serious is going on.” A voice interrupted.

They turned around.

Someone was standing on the window, shrouded in his cloak, holding something on his shoulder.

“Did I interrupt?”

Muon’s eye’s widened. “Haliad!”

“You’re awake.” Haliad hopped down from the window and walked to them. “It seems your injuries have healed too.”

“Yes. Thanks to my brother.”

“And someone finally took off his mask.” Haliad said to Richard.

The latter just took a long draw from his cigar, and puffed it out. Then he spoke.

“You went to Qud.”

Haliad carefully lowered the bag to the group. Muon walked to it, bent down and unzipped it.

“Since some won’t agree to killing their son, I went to find a compatible body for Myai.”

Muon stared at the body. The age range would be an early adult. Qud unique pale skin, and dark short hair.

“How did you get it without Clave’s teeth on your ass?”

“Snuck in, snuck out. I’m not your brother that visits Clave’s world with a sword.”

They both glanced at Richard.

Haliad’s eyes moved sideways and saw Gal.

“You’re still alive?”

“Fortunately, yes.” The man bowed.

“Yeah…” he glanced at Muon. “I’m I the only one that finds it weird?”

“What’s weird is the school uniform you’re wearing.”

Haliad gazed at himself. “School is surprisingly interesting. Except for the part where they forgot me and came on a trip.”

“So we’ll move Myai’s soul into this body?” Muon poked the cheek. “What happened to the real owner?”

“She fell off a tree.”

“Wait…really?”

“The tree was barely seven feet, but then she had a heart attack midair.”

They all glanced at Haliad.

He shrugged. “I also wouldn’t believe it if I didn’t see it myself. Spared me the trouble of searching though.”

He folded his arms. “I also brought the dragon from Nafela.”

“Alright,” Muon straightened up. “I’ll go get the boy.”

“Wait,” Haliad glanced at Richard. “Clarify something Myai told me. Since the war, we have lost all contact with the creator. Is it true that Elias is the only person who can connect to Omeo?”
