Synthetic Wizard

Chapter 86 - 84: Demon Pattern Core 2

Chapter 86: Chapter 84: Demon Pattern Core 2

This time, Sunan chose the style of a ring for the magical item he made, as it is always the most convenient to carry.

Looking at the Ring of Disaster on his hand, he hesitated for a moment before deciding against testing its power on the Steel Golem.

Unlike the Frozen Necklace, which was a wide-range attack and inflicted minimal damage on the Steel Golem due to maintaining a considerable distance.

The Ring of Disaster, however, was a single-target attack causing close-range damage.

Sunan estimated that the Steel Golem might not withstand the power of the Claw of Disaster, and he certainly didn’t want to damage his only Steel Golem during testing.

This thing consumed the last soul gem he had.

“I can only wait for real combat to test its specific power.”

Thinking of the Steel Golem, Sunan couldn’t help but shake his head silently.

Although he had previously thought about synthesizing a stripped-down version of the Steel Golem, the demand for steel due to military expansion made it impossible to act, and it remains the same now.

The output from the Black Stone Iron mine is far from sufficient to support the military expansion in Flashing Territory; he had to buy in bulk from the Firefox Trading Company to barely make up for the deficit.

The plan to mass-produce the stripped-down Steel Golem is clearly unfeasible in the short term.

“The synthesis of the Gemstone Soul Core also failed, so I really need to find a way to acquire the technology for making soul gems.”

Sunan pondered silently.

The Firefox Trading Company has been helping him collect various Wizard’s Scriptures for the past two years, but unfortunately, few have been truly useful, even though they have enriched his knowledge base.

“The influence of the Firefox Trading Company only covers the Thorn Flower Duchy and Star Duchy; other countries are virtually blank spaces. Perhaps I should find a second collaborator in other countries to expand the search range.”

Leaving the workshop, Sunan headed straight to the library.

This was a place specifically designated for storing Wizard’s Scriptures, with an area of over a thousand square meters.

However, currently only four to five bookshelves are filled, making it appear somewhat empty.

Nonetheless, Sunan firmly believes that one day the entire library will be filled with books.

Entering the library, Sunan walked to one of the shelves and reached for a book.

The hard purple cover bore four large characters—”Demon Pattern Core.”

This book, incidentally, was left by Amy’s master.

Initially, when Sunan acquired it, he thought it was related to knowledge about magical items.

However, after browsing it, he discovered it was actually about magical tattoos.

Like energy runes, magical tattoos also belong to one of the branches of enchantment.

They can draw specific spells in tattoo form on the human body surface; during combat, merely a little spiritual power needs to be injected to activate them instantly.

It’s equivalent to storing a spell on the body that can be instantly cast without chanting.

For Wizard Apprentices who haven’t mastered instant spellcasting, it’s a very practical skill.

Having a few defensive spell tattoos on oneself provides more safety during combat.

However, magical tattoos are not without shortcomings.

First, the area required for creating magical tattoos is considerable, and they can’t be covered by hair. Even if all the hair on the body is shaved off, at most only five to six magical tattoos can be drawn.

Places covered by clothing aren’t as much a concern, but if tattoos are drawn on exposed areas like arms, head, and neck, they can easily be seen by opponents, leading to early countermeasures.

Secondly, creating magical tattoos is highly challenging, with the prerequisite being a Level 3 in “Magical Item Manufacturing.”

Most Wizard Apprentices do not meet this requirement.

Sunan had considered creating magical tattoos previously, but his skill level didn’t qualify, so he had to give up.

It’s even less needed now.

Once he advances to a Level 3 Wizard Apprentice, he can then train super magical techniques.

Mastering instant spellcasting would drastically reduce the role of magical tattoos.

Moreover, above magical tattoos are rune engraving and alchemy inscriptions.

Compared to magical tattoos, he prefers the more potent effects of rune engravings and alchemy inscriptions.

Collecting his thoughts, Sunan looked at the book in his hand.

The author is Lupat Bevin, an Official Wizard.

The Demon Pattern Core is his research outcome, a comprehensive application of magical tattoos.

Simply put, its principle involves melding multiple corresponding magical tattoos, using the tattoo as a medium, and combining multiple spell effects to form a new, more powerful spell effect.

The first half of the book discusses how Lupat Bevin researched the Demon Pattern Core and its principles and construction.

The second half explains the Demon Pattern Core he developed, named “Flowing Silver.”

According to the book, “Flowing Silver,” once activated, can release metallic fluid with varied characteristics; depending on its form, it can be used for defense or attack—an extremely practical core capable of both offense and defense.

Its power is comparable to the talent abilities of an Official Wizard!

Yet, Sunan holds reservations about this.

An Official Wizard’s talent abilities often serve as their trump card and base, with formidable power.

Sunan doubts the Demon Pattern Core can reach this level.

However, from the book’s contents, even if exaggerated, it wouldn’t be much.

This Demon Pattern Core named “Flowing Silver,” even with only half the power of a Wizard’s talent ability, is a formidable power for Wizard Apprentices!

Initially, intrigued by this, Sunan was quite eager.

Only upon reviewing the crafting method of the Demon Pattern Core did he suppress his urge.

The Demon Pattern Core essentially belongs to special magical items, requiring the maker to possess certain “Magical Item Manufacturing” skills.

Although the book does not specify the exact skill level, it is clear it must be higher than the prerequisite for magical tattoos.

This means “Magical Item Manufacturing” must be at Level 4 at least.

Sunan’s “Magical Item Manufacturing” is currently at Level 2, with only half the proficiency needed to advance to Level 3.

Secondly, crafting “Flowing Silver” requires a large quantity of materials.

Primary materials include eighty-nine metals, over two-thirds of which are rare magical metals like Mithril, Meteorite Iron, and others.

Sunan estimates many metals are no longer found on the current Starlight Continent, requiring the use of magical methods to attempt synthesis of substitutes.

This is undoubtedly a long-term project.

Finally, merging the Demon Pattern Core exerts great pressure on the body of the integrator, necessitating both the spiritual level of a Level 3 Wizard Apprentice and the physical level of a Junior Grand Knight.

This means both spiritual power and physical power must be above 30 points.

The requirements are certainly stringent.

“My spiritual power is slightly below the standard; however, my other skills, materials, and physical power are far from sufficient.”

Sunan lamented.

If he could craft and merge a Demon Pattern Core, he wouldn’t be daunted even against a Level 3 Wizard Apprentice.

But although he can’t craft it now, he can start preparations.

For example, the collection of those eighty-nine metal materials can commence now, or research on substitutes can be initiated.

Placing the book back, Sunan collected a few unread books and placed them in his Space Ring before leaving the library.

After a busy spell, the sky turned somewhat late.

The evening glow penetrated halfway across the sky, with filament-like stratocumulus clouds appearing as though ablaze, transitioning from a bright gold line on the horizon to bluish-purple overhead and gradually to deep blue, ending in a shadowy haze at the far east.

“Looks like good weather is coming.”

Sunan stretched his body, feeling the discomfort left by the ’Illusion of Evil’ dissipated significantly, heading to the Meditation Room to continue his daily routine.

Currently, he still uses Superpower Potion and Divine Blood Amber to aid his meditation.

Yet, as his spiritual power grows, the effects brought by these two also gradually decrease.

Superpower Potion is easily addressed; advancing to Level 3 Wizard Apprentice would allow him to bear the third-tier potion and synthesize more advanced potions.

However, Divine Blood Amber presents a bit of a challenge.

To continue ’upgrading’ Divine Blood Amber, more raw materials are required.

However, it’s a treasure of the Starfire Sect, and they surely wouldn’t benevolently gift it to him.

Sunan speculated the Starfire Sect has likely discovered his actions in Stone Bell City, planning strategies to reclaim Divine Blood Amber.

“But even if they don’t come after me, I’ll eventually confront them.”
