Chapter 113 - 97: Hundred-armed Monster (Part 2)

Chapter 113: Chapter 97: Hundred-armed Monster (Part 2)

The missile successively penetrated the heads of the three Underground Toad Monsters, pierced their hearts, and exited from their backs, leaving only two shocking holes.

In just one encounter, the three Underground Toad Monsters fell to the ground as corpses.

Sunan slowly withdrew his palm.

The Underground Toad Monster isn’t particularly powerful; an adult’s strength generally ranges from Junior Knight to Middle Knight, with a few elites reaching Knight Level.

In a dark environment, being suddenly attacked by multiple Underground Toad Monsters could be costly even for a Great Knight.

However, for Sunan, who relied on spirit to perceive his surroundings rather than physical sight, the power of the Underground Toad Monster was insignificant.

Without a glance at the bodies on the ground, Sunan continued forward.

The deeper he went, the more spacious the cave became, and the more dim silver revealed on the rock walls on both sides.

Sunan felt a tinge of joy in his heart.

It seems the silver mine’s reserves here are not low; if fully mined, it would be quite profitable.

Moreover, many silver mines are accompanied by gold mines; finding gold mines would mean striking it rich.

Along the way, Underground Toad Monsters and Fierce Rat swarms jumped out to attack Sunan, all of whom he easily dispatched.

Eventually, Sunan grew impatient and directly released over a dozen Black Rock Leopards to deal with the monsters.

As puppet creatures, Black Rock Leopards are innately equipped with dark vision, thriving in the dim cave and adept at coordinated attacks, making them perfect for dealing with Underground Toad Monsters and Fierce Rat swarms.

With the previous experience of infiltrating the Storm Army camp, Sunan had become accustomed to storing dozens of Black Rock Leopards and Stone Golems in the Magic Cube for emergencies.

It wasn’t long before Sunan discovered some blood-stained bones on the cave floor.

These were unmistakably human remains; judging by the marks, they were fresh, most likely belonging to those missing villagers.

Sunan sighed, realizing those captured were probably doomed.

After advancing a further three hundred meters, a distant sound began to emerge ahead.

It sounded somewhat like the barking of small dogs.

With a change in expression, Sunan cast a spell of Comprehend Language on himself.

As soon as the magic took effect, the strange sounds ahead turned into a distinct, unfamiliar language.

“Don’t slack off, you bunch of fools! Dig faster!”

“The food is all gone. If you can’t mine enough ore to trade for food today, I’ll use you to fill the master’s belly!”

This was the Kobold language.

Looking down, Sunan indeed found numerous plum-shaped footprints on the ground.

“I see…”

Sunan gradually understood.

He had previously thought it odd that omnivorous creatures like Underground Toad Monsters and Fierce Rats would risk going to the surface to hunt; now, seeing the Kobolds, he suddenly realized.

Kobolds are common underground humanoid creatures that reproduce everywhere like rats.

They are natural miners, often enslaved by other races.

It seems there might be another mastermind behind this incident.

While his thoughts raced, Sunan quickly made a decision.

Past the tunnel’s end, an abruptly spacious basin lay ahead.

A group of Kobolds was swinging their mining picks, vigorously digging for ore.

Their heads were dog-like with two pale-colored small horns, shining eyes, and tails straight like mice.

Not far away, a bonfire crackled beside their crude tents, with mushrooms and unknown meats scattered on the ground, the air filled with a dung odor, indicating that these Kobolds had been living there for quite some time.

Piles of excavated ore stacked up in a corner, where amongst the pervasive silver, glints of gold could be seen.

“It seems this silver mine does indeed have a gold deposit.”

Sunan’s heart filled with joy as he decisively issued a command.

The over a dozen Black Rock Leopards beside him immediately charged through the cave entrance, darting toward the Kobolds.

“In-intruders!”

“Black Leopards!”

“Can they be eaten?”

The intelligence of Kobolds was notably low, often driven by instinct.

Seeing the Black Rock Leopards attack, their first reaction was to rush forward to kill these suddenly appearing beasts, wondering if they could eat them.

Only after more than a dozen of their companions were swiftly killed by the Black Rock Leopards did they become terrified, screaming and scattering in all directions.

“Don’t run!”

“Kill the intruders!”

A slightly larger Kobold leader with dark brown scales stepped forth, brandishing a whip to strike at the fleeing Kobolds, forcing them to fight back.

But in the next second, Kei was toppled over by the pouncing Black Rock Leopard, tearing him to pieces.

The Kobolds’ combat power was much weaker than that of the Underground Toad Monsters.

Even the Kobold leader only had the strength level of a Junior Knight.

They were no match for the Black Rock Leopard at all.

Over a hundred Kobolds were quickly wiped out by more than half.

At this moment, a thunderous roar suddenly erupted.

It sounded like many people were roaring in anger at the same time.

Suddenly, a grotesque and frightening monster burst out from the depths of the basin.

The monster looked like a giant tree with many protruding branches, yet also resembled a centipede with numerous limbs, towering over ten meters tall, with dense arms and heads.

Each of its arms held a sword or a heavy hammer, its lower body or rather, its trunk section was clad in half-armor.

Judging by the Enchanted Rune on the armor’s surface, it was actually a magic item.

“What kind of monster is this?”

In the shadows behind the entrance, Sunan widened his eyes in surprise.

In his memory, he had never seen such a creature before!

“A Hundred-armed Giant? No, no, a Hundred-armed Giant is at least humanoid, this creature has many arms but no legs, just roots.”

While Sunan was in doubt and surprise, the monster had already moved its tree-root-like dense limbs, swiftly lunging at a Black Rock Leopard, and countless giant swords and heavy hammers struck down simultaneously, smashing the Black Rock Leopard to bits.

Bang! Bang! Bang!

The strength of the Hundred-armed Monster clearly surpassed that of the Black Rock Leopard, completely dispatching the latter in one hit.

In just the blink of an eye, more than ten Black Rock Leopards were either split or smashed into scattered pieces of stone by it.

Sunan couldn’t help but take a light breath.

“Such terrifying power!”

The real Hundred-armed Giant had about the battle strength of a Tier Two Legendary Knight.

But this monster in front of him had a physical strength not at all inferior to a Hundred-armed Giant, with even more arms, and crucially, it could wield weapons and wear armor, its combat power could be even stronger than a Hundred-armed Giant.

Even if it couldn’t match a Tier Three Legendary Knight, it probably wasn’t far off.

A monster comparable to a Tier Three Legendary Knight!

Sunan never anticipated that such a terrifying creature was hidden in the caves near Flash City.

If this monster were to run rampant on the surface, the consequences would be unimaginable.

Sunan suddenly realized that not showing up rashly and instead sending the Black Rock Leopard to probe was a very wise decision.

Otherwise, he might have had to flee in panic.

Even though he had five High-level Rune Gemstones on him, he couldn’t guarantee overcoming this Hundred-armed Monster.

Taking a deep breath, Sunan quietly retreated, heading back the way he came.

Fortunately, after the Hundred-armed Monster dealt with the Black Rock Leopard, it looked around and finding no one, grabbed a few Kobold corpses, chewing them as it returned to the original cave entrance, seemingly not noticing anyone else in the vicinity.

A moment later, Sunan walked safely out of the cave.

“Your Excellency.”

Brad, who was guarding outside, immediately stepped forward.

Sunan said in a deep voice, “Seal off the cave, don’t let anyone enter, if something comes out, inform me immediately!”

“Understood, Your Excellency.”

Brad didn’t ask more questions and agreed right away.

Returning to Flash City, Sunan found Kei and briefly explained the situation in the cave.

Upon hearing there was a monster comparable to a Tier Three Legendary Knight inside, Kei’s face turned extremely serious, and he immediately decided to mobilize the army to enter the cave and eliminate the monster.

After all, allowing such a powerful monster to remain by Flash City, he wouldn’t be able to sleep peacefully.

But Sunan immediately stopped him: “That monster has over a hundred arms, it’s least afraid of human waves, and besides, the cave’s space is limited, the army can’t function effectively inside.”

“So what should we do?” Kei was worried.

“We need to plan carefully.”

Sunan also wanted to get rid of the Hundred-armed Monster so that the silver and gold mines inside could be developed.

Finding the entrance to the underground world was the same; without first eliminating the obstructing Hundred-armed Monster, they couldn’t proceed further inside.

However, taking rash action was not advisable.

After discussing for a while, they ultimately decided to first send more troops to guard the vicinity of the forest, ensuring that the monster wouldn’t get near Flash City.

As for the matters afterward, they planned to think of solutions slowly.
