Chapter 111 - 96: Whose Reputation? (Part 2)
Chapter 111: Chapter 96: Whose Reputation? (Part 2)
Behind him, the newcomers curiously looked over, clearly interested in the matter.
Sherman smiled and nodded, “It’s true. I heard Lady Amy say that the teacher brought it from elsewhere. It’s already hatched, and after some time for cultivation, it will be ready for use.”
“It’s really the Red-eyed Crow.”
“I’ve never seen this kind of Magic Creature before.”
“The book says Red-eyed Crows can spot prey hundreds of kilometers away.”
“That incredible? Then I must find a Red-eyed Crow as my Magical Pet in the future.”
The newcomers buzzed with conversation, filled with curiosity about the Red-eyed Crow.
Having just come into contact with Wizarding knowledge, everything fascinated them at this moment.
Sherman chuckled, “Then you all have to work hard. You need to be a Level 2 Wizard Apprentice to contract a Magical Pet. You’ve got a long way to go.”
“Yes, Senior Sherman.”
The newcomers stood tall and appeared very confident.
Sherman and Attila watched, both feeling a little sentimental.
These newcomers were so confident because they hadn’t yet suffered the harshness of cultivation.
After they meditate for some time, they will realize how difficult it is to build a star ring and enhance Spiritual Power.
They have been Level 1 Wizard Apprentices for over two years now, and yet they haven’t even built the third star ring.
Their Spiritual Power is still far below the standards for a Level 2 Wizard Apprentice.
Promotion seems a distant hope.
The more they practice, the more they understand how challenging it is to enhance their powers.
Thus, they admire and respect the teacher all the more.
Lady Amy mentioned that the teacher took just about a year to become a Level 2 Wizard Apprentice.
Their advancement was so rapid that it was beyond their reach.
“The Lord is here!”
A voice suddenly rang out, interrupting Sherman’s contemplation.
He looked up to see Marquis Kei entering the hall with the bride, both smiling broadly.
Their splendid attire was adorned with jewels and precious embroidery, the bride also wore a crown, which enhanced her beauty, capturing everyone’s attention.
“The bride is gorgeous,” Attila couldn’t help but exclaim, her eyes slightly glowing.
Sherman smiled, just about to tease her, when he suddenly noticed a figure beside him in his peripheral vision. He turned his head and his expression suddenly became solemn.
“Teacher.”
Cole, Attila, and the newcomers also noticed Sunan, and they all bowed in greeting.
Many nobles were immediately drawn by the commotion there.
Upon seeing Sunan, their eyes lit up, eager to strike up a conversation, but since the main event had begun, they had to put the thought on hold.
The hall quickly quieted down.
Sunan watched the newcomers at the center of the hall with a smile.
In this world, there was no church, so the wedding ceremony was not held in a chapel, nor did it require oath exchanges or rings.
The entire wedding ceremony was more like a celebratory banquet, solemn yet lively.
Sunan thought this was quite nice, without so many formal procedures.
After some speeches and blessings, the banquet officially began.
People started clinking glasses, chatting, and laughing jubilantly.
Several nobles were ready to find Sunan for a conversation, but when they turned, they were surprised to find Sunan had already vanished.
Even the young apprentices had left.
A sense of disappointment spread among the crowd.
Back at the reception room behind the hall.
Sunan relaxedly leaned back on the sofa, sipping his drink leisurely.
Before long, Kei came in, and upon seeing him like this, couldn’t help but laugh, “I knew you’d be here. Why didn’t you stay a little longer? Quite a few people are here today for you.”
Sunan shrugged silently.
Of course, he was aware of that.
However, knowing was one thing, but Sunan had no interest in polite exchanges with those people. He had the privilege not to do so.
“And the bride? Are you just going to leave her?”
Seeing Sunan change the subject, Kei didn’t mind, laughing as he sat down on the sofa and poured himself a drink.
“She went to rest. Being an eighteen-year-old girl, it’s been a long day for her and she’s exhausted.”
Sunan raised an eyebrow, “A weak constitution isn’t good; it’s bad for gene inheritance. Give her more Dragon Blood Fruit later on.”
Gene inheritance manifested more evidently in this world.
The children of Knights had better potential and were more likely to become Knights.
If one’s parents were Great Knights, then advancing to a Knight was almost a certainty.
Legendary Knights didn’t even need mentioning.
Thus, noble families with centuries-long heritages often produced strong descendants, continuously churning out Knights.
This was a manifestation of genetic enhancement.
If both parents were Knights, the likelihood of their children becoming Knights was almost seventy to eighty percent.
Unfortunately, there were very few female Knights in this era.
Noble ladies focused more on poise and social skills, learning to sing, play musical instruments, and table manners, possibly including court dancing and horse riding, but not emphasizing martial skills.
But it didn’t matter; if martial skills were lacking, improving physical fitness would suffice.
After all, with Dragon Blood Fruit around, significantly enhancing physical fitness in a short time was not difficult.
The two chatted casually for a while, then the topic shifted to the current situation of the Starfire Sect.
“Currently, the Starfire Sect’s spreading progress is most successful in Red Leaf Province and Ranshuang Province.”
“The former has the endorsement of a Grand Duke, hardly meeting any resistance from top to bottom.”
“The latter is currently rebuilding; the people, cold and hungry, can easily convert to followers with a little food from the Starfire Sect.”
“As for Hulan Province, Soman Province, and Zizhu Province, although they haven’t expressed support for spreading the Starfire Sect’s faith, they also haven’t shown clear obstruction. They probably are still observing.”
Kei didn’t mention White Tower Province.
However, from the Marquis of the White Tower’s decision to marry into his family, the attitude was self-evident.
“We need time to accumulate strength, but we can’t just let the Starfire Sect expand unchecked. Do you have any good ideas?” Kei asked solemnly.
Sunan pondered slightly.
They couldn’t interfere with other provinces’ land yet, thereby unable to disrupt the Starfire Sect’s operations there.
The only feasible way was to unite with White Tower Province, prohibiting the Starfire Sect’s entry.
Of course, it’s not as though they don’t have other potential methods.
Golden Rock Province can’t be relied upon, but don’t they still have the dense forest cabin?
Perhaps they could start there.
“I’ll think of a way for this matter,” Sunan said.
Upon hearing Sunan’s words, Kei’s expression softened considerably.
He had always had great confidence in Sunan, and since Sunan said so, he must have had a plan in mind.
Knock, knock!
A knocking sound suddenly struck.
“Come in.”
The door opened, and Brad quickly walked in, his expression somewhat stern.
“Lord Kei, Sir Sunan.”
After greeting them, Brad reported in a solemn voice:
“The patrol team has reported intelligence that a village about ten kilometers north of the city has vanished!”
Kei’s expression tightened, “Have they figured out what happened?”
“The team reported that they found many traces of beasts’ claws and bites at the scene, as well as a large amount of remaining blood. Initial guesses are that a beast group attacked the village, killed everyone, and dragged the bodies away.”
“A beast group?”
Kei frowned, appearing puzzled and uncertain.
Beast group attacks on villages were not uncommon, but making an entire village disappear without even a single person escaping to give a warning was quite incredible.
How large would the beast group have to be to accomplish such a feat?
Experiencing such an incident on a day of great celebration put Kei in a foul mood. He frowned and commanded, “Take a team to investigate, and find the culprit responsible for attacking the village!”
“Yes, sir!”
Brad replied with solemn reverence, then swiftly left to organize a team.
“Of all times for something like this to happen…” Kei sighed.
Sunan stood up, patted Kei on the shoulder, consoling, “Finish the wedding first, we’ll address other things tomorrow.”
Kei nodded, returning to the hall.
After all, he was the main figure today and couldn’t be absent for too long.
Sunan moved to the window, gazing toward the northern direction, lost in thought.
“A beast group, huh…”
