Chapter 321: Chapter 206: Conversation
"Elder Li."
"Do you know what this is?"
Su Xing had always been extremely curious about this object that allowed him to skip the breakthrough process. ’If it’s not very useful to others, maybe I can get my hands on some more, just in case.’
"Hm?"
Li Longxuan seemed surprised for a moment. He then took a fragment from Su Xing’s hand and examined it closely. After a long while, he finally spoke.
"This thing looks a bit like an Extraordinary Core."
"An Extraordinary Core?"
Su Xing asked, stunned.
His understanding of the Extraordinary World was no longer as limited as it once was, yet he had never heard those two words before. Su Xing immediately realized this was probably no simple object.
"Mhm."
"You found this in a Secret Realm, didn’t you?"
Li Longxuan wasn’t surprised in the slightest. He looked at Su Xing’s face and asked calmly.
"Yes."
Su Xing nodded.
There was no need to hide something like this.
Besides, he probably couldn’t have hidden it even if he’d wanted to. So Su Xing was forthcoming and told Elder Li everything.
"This is something left behind after an Extraordinary Being dies. If I had to describe it... it’s like the shariputra of monks in martial arts novels."
"It’s just that a shariputra contains most of a monk’s understanding of Buddhism, while an Extraordinary Core contains an Extraordinary Being’s insights into their own power. It looks like you’ve already absorbed all the insight from this one, though."
"To think such a miraculous thing exists."
Su Xing couldn’t help but sigh in amazement. After hearing Li Longxuan’s explanation, he finally understood why the system had allowed him to skip the breakthrough process. Simply put, his breakthroughs involved rapidly infusing his body with insights into the Martial Dao, which was the source of the excruciating pain.
’If the insights within the Extraordinary Core can be converted by the system, or if it already contained another Martial Artist’s understanding of the Martial Dao, then it’s really no surprise I was able to skip the breakthrough process,’ Su Xing thought.
"But..."
Su Xing hesitated. "I’ve killed my fair share of Extraordinary Beings. Even that Tier Eight Powerhouse, Tong An, died at my hands. Why didn’t any of them leave behind an Extraordinary Core?"
"Hm..."
Li Longxuan nodded knowingly. "Because he wasn’t yet qualified to form an Extraordinary Core. In fact, neither you nor I are qualified yet."
"..."
Hearing Li Longxuan’s words, Su Xing suddenly realized just how significant this Extraordinary Core was. ’To produce something like this upon death, one must be a powerhouse far beyond Tier Eight.’
"Even a powerhouse like that can die?"
Su Xing asked, shocked.
The power of a Tier Eight Powerhouse was already incredible. If one was determined to flee, it was nearly impossible to be caught. The only way a Tier Eight Powerhouse was likely to die was in a battle to the death.
If this person was even stronger than Tier Eight, Su Xing couldn’t begin to imagine what could have possibly killed them so brutally.
"Of course they can."
"Everyone in this world dies."
Li Longxuan nodded. "Even a Tier Eight will die if they encounter an enemy they can’t possibly defeat. Or they’ll die when a few hundred years fly by and their natural lifespan comes to an end."
"..."
Su Xing was taken aback. He was only in his twenties, after all, and had never considered such things. Death always seemed like a distant concept. Even though he frequently fought all sorts of opponents, he had never truly contemplated his own mortality.
Even so, Su Xing had to admit that Li Longxuan was right.
No one lives forever. It wasn’t just true for people like them; even Spiritual Qi itself would one day run dry. When that happens, all Extraordinary Beings will fade into nothingness. History had already proven this to be true.
"So he was a powerhouse above Tier Eight?"
"There are tiers above Eight?"
Su Xing asked curiously.
"Tsk, of course there are."
Li Longxuan said, finding it a bit funny.
"The Extraordinary path is limitless, Su."
"Since ancient times, in any era blessed with Spiritual Qi, countless Extraordinary Beings have sought to break through the limits of their power. Every Extraordinary path has produced legendary figures, but none of them have ever reached the true limit."
"Besides... if Tier Eight were the final realm, we’d probably just round it up to ten to make it sound more impressive."
Li Longxuan joked.
Although Li Longxuan was joking, Su Xing listened intently. This was all information he had never been privy to before.
This kind of knowledge was likely known only to a select few in the entire world. ’After all, if you’re nowhere near the limit, why would you even waste time thinking about where it lies?’
"Let me put it this way. Our definition of the Extraordinary Tiers is based almost entirely on the impact an Extraordinary Being has on the world. Tiers One through Four are considered introductory because, at those stages, your influence on the world is still minimal."
"At best, you’re just a glorified Martial Arts Master. Unless you’re so exceptionally talented that you can shatter space at Tier Four, you’re still just a beginner."
"From Tier Five to Tier Seven, your power begins to affect the space around you. You can start attempting to use space to perform feats that were previously impossible, like spatial teleportation."
"As for what comes after Tier Seven..."
Li Longxuan thought for a moment before continuing. "At this point, your influence is great enough to affect an entire nation. No country or organization can afford to ignore your words, your power, or your very existence."
"Take me, for example. If I were to use my full power, my blade could appear across the ocean at any moment and take the head of that president in his mansion. Of course, that’s assuming he has no other experts protecting him."
