Sweet Time Only for You: The Entanglement between Mr. Lu and Miss Song
Chapter 1051: Ning Wan, Don’t Push Your Luck!
This time, Ning Wan actually didn’t say it was disgusting right away.
"Mm, the flavor of this chicken wing is still okay, but the skin isn’t crispy enough, and it’s a little bit too spicy. I can only say it’s barely edible."
Her tone was full of disdain.
Lu Jinyan’s face went green when he heard that.
"Ning Wan, don’t push your luck!" he blurted out.
His big hands clenched tight, his face livid, as if he wanted to rush over and grab Ning Wan by the neck.
But just as he was about to turn around, Wen Duoduo grabbed his sleeve.
Wen Duoduo shot him a look, shook her head, and said, "Forget it, Ning Wan’s a patient right now. She really should only be eating light food."
She looked at Ning Wan and said, "I didn’t think it through. I forgot you’re a patient and should be eating milder things."
Ning Wan lifted her brows and gave Lu Jinyan a provocative look.
Lu Jinyan’s lips were pressed tight, his expression rigid. If Wen Duoduo weren’t holding onto him, he might have already turned and walked out.
But he couldn’t rest easy leaving Wen Duoduo alone in the ward, so he had no choice but to swallow his anger and force himself to stay.
Seeing the eye contact between Wen Duoduo and Lu Jinyan, Ning Wan grew even more jealous.
She bit her lip and said, "Jinyan, I’ve got an IV in my hand, can you feed me?"
Lu Jinyan had still been fuming, and when he heard Ning Wan suddenly demand that he feed her, his anger flared even higher.
His face darkened in an instant.
"Ning Wan, you—!"
Just as he was about to explode, Ning Wan pulled a long face, lowered her head, and said in a wounded voice:
"I remember when I was little, right after my mom passed away, I had no appetite, didn’t want to eat. It was you, Jinyan, who fed me bite by bite."
As she spoke, she actually started to sob. "I know what I’m asking is kind of over the line, but... but I really just can’t eat. Can’t you be a little gentler with me? I’m already like this, and you’re still so fierce with me. And you claim you treat me like a younger sister, woo woo woo woo..."
She cried as she complained, wiping at her tears, looking terribly pitiful.
Yan Xue saw this and felt a stab of distress. She reached out and pulled Ning Wan into her arms, gently patting her back over and over.
"Xiao Wan, my poor child, don’t cry, don’t cry..."
She turned around and glared at Lu Jinyan, scolding, "Jinyan, what kind of brother are you, not caring about Xiao Wan at all! When you were little, Xiao Wan’s mom was so good to you. When she passed, you promised you’d take care of Xiao Wan. And now she’s hurt, and this is how you treat her?!"
Lu Jinyan fell silent, his brows tightly knitted.
Wen Duoduo watched all this, her feelings a tangled mess.
She knew that a big part of why Lu Jinyan was so cold to Ning Wan was because of her—he didn’t want her to misunderstand.
Thinking of this, she lifted her head to look at Lu Jinyan at her side, lightly tugged his sleeve, and said:
"I think Auntie is right. Miss Ning doesn’t have any family in the Imperial City and only knows you and Auntie. You should take good care of her."
"But you..."
"I’m fine."
Wen Duoduo smiled, looked up at Lu Jinyan, and added, "I’ve still got some work I haven’t finished. I need to hurry back and work overtime."
"I’ll take you..."
"No need."
She shook her head, hooked her arm through Song Yinyin’s and said, "I’ll just leave with Yinyin."
As she spoke, she turned back and gave Song Yinyin a look.
