Chapter 2778 - 2771: Do You Still Remember Me

  • Next Chapter

He Family Manor, temporary camp.

Ning Chenyang was squatting under a big tree, wolfing down a steamed bun, when the company commander’s shout for assembly suddenly came: "Everyone who’s finished eating, gather up. Some volunteers have brought supplies for us and for the people in the disaster area, everyone move and help carry the supplies."

He’d been busy all morning and had just caught his breath; he had no intention of going along to move supplies.

His stomach was still growling with hunger; he wanted to fill it up first.

Five two-ton trucks stopped in front of the camp. The tailgates were opened, and the warriors, under the company commander’s orders, all jumped onto the trucks to start unloading.

On the trucks were bottled water, instant noodles, flour, brand-new quilts, as well as eggs and fruit, and even some medicine.

These were exactly the things they were short of right now.

The volunteers bringing this stuff really were like delivering charcoal in a snowstorm.

"On behalf of all the officers and soldiers and the villagers of He Family Manor, thank you!" The company commander gave the donor a salute.

And that donor seemed to return something like a military salute too. It was a bit far, so Ning Chenyang couldn’t see the person’s face clearly, only knew the person was a woman.

And a stylishly dressed woman at that.

"Chenyang, you’re still here eating? Aren’t you going to check out the excitement?" The young warrior who was eating under the big tree with Ning Chenyang stood up and said, "That donor looks pretty young, and she’s got quite a nice vibe. I should pay attention—maybe I can even find myself a girlfriend while I’m in the army."

"Tch!" Ning Chenyang looked at him with disdain. "She’s here to visit the disaster victims, not you! Isn’t the truck almost unloaded already? She’ll be leaving any minute."

"Still, I’ve gotta go take a look. Since when have I ever missed out on a bit of fun?"

"Go, go!"

Ning Chenyang watched that little warrior charge over, only to get grabbed by the company commander and sent off to distribute supplies to the villagers, and he didn’t even get a glimpse of the beauty’s face.

Ning Chenyang curled his lips into a grin, set his empty mess tin down on the ground, closed his eyes and leaned against the big tree to rest.

He didn’t know how much time had passed when a gust of wind blew over, carrying a strong waft of perfume into his nose. Ning Chenyang opened his eyes, and his blurred vision cleared.

He saw a woman with exquisite makeup standing in front of him. She was wearing a red dress, her long black hair casually twisted up at the back of her head, a mix of refinement with a hint of lazy sensuality.

"Do you still recognize me?" Before Ning Chenyang could speak, the woman spoke first.

Ning Chenyang’s gaze swept over Luo Tong’s face. Her features carried a strange sense of familiarity, like he’d seen her somewhere before...

"You are..."

"You’ve forgotten me? Chenyang!"

Just as the woman spoke his name, Ning Chenyang also called out hers.

"Luo Tong!"

A flicker of surprise flashed in Luo Tong’s eyes. "You still remember me?"

Ning Chenyang patted the dust off his clothes and stood up, saying, "Of course I remember! It’s just been a long time since we’ve seen each other, I got a bit dazed for a moment."

"Yes, it has been a long time." Luo Tong curled her lips slightly. "You joined the army."

"Yeah. It’s been my dream since I was a kid!" Ning Chenyang smiled and patted his own chest. "I’m a guy overflowing with a sense of justice!"

"Yes." The smile at Luo Tong’s lips was a bit stiff. "You’re absolutely right. You overflow with a sense of justice, and you hate evil like it’s your sworn enemy. Otherwise, back then, you wouldn’t have reported my adoptive father without even saying a word to me first."
