"Sister Tong, you wouldn’t be interested in this boy, would you..." The driver could guess around eight or nine out of ten from Luo Tong’s tone and sense of loss. He thought Luo Tong had fallen for the boy.

"There won’t be love." Luo Tong clenched her fist and spoke against her true feelings, "I only feel hatred towards him!"

"Sister Tong, with your current social status, isn’t it easy for you to deal with someone? If you are willing, I can arrange for someone anytime..."

"Don’t act recklessly! He’s from the military district compound! You can’t touch him! Be careful not to cause trouble!" Luo Tong said.

He Yue has been attending class for a week now, and she’s familiar with the situation in the class.

Even though she’s a newcomer, everyone’s attitude towards her has been quite friendly.

However, there are a few people who aren’t so nice to her, mainly a few troublemaking boys who sit at the back of the class.

Their families are affluent, and they don’t really study seriously, just passing time at school and then going on to muddle through college.

Once they are out in society, they await their parents’ abilities to find a decent position for them, slip them in through the back door, and then live an easy life with a high-paying job.

The more privileged they are, the more they look down on He Yue, thinking she’s a girl from the countryside, inexperienced and hence they want to tease her for fun.

He Yue can somewhat understand their mindset, so she simply ignores them and lets them taunt her.

She knows that after a while, if she doesn’t respond, those people will naturally stop bothering her.

Of course, she could retaliate fiercely.

But she knows that doing so might bring her even more trouble. She doesn’t want to cause trouble.

Whenever they deliberately provoke her, she simply pretends not to hear.

But, today’s situation seems a bit different. The boy causing trouble today doesn’t seem to plan on letting her off that easily.

"I heard you’re new here?" The boy sat on half of her desk, arms crossed, with a mocking smile at the corner of his mouth as he looked at her, "From the countryside? Tell me, do girls in the countryside spend their days feeding pigs and chickens at home? Or do they get married and have children early? How did you manage to come to our Ninth High School? On top of that, as a transfer student! Does your family have some sort of background?"

He Yue ignored him and continued reading her book.

"Quite proud, aren’t you!" The boy raised his eyebrows at her, "But, you don’t look like a rural kid, with a fair and clean face, nothing like the sunburnt highland red from exposure to the wind and sun."

"Ahaha! Chi Yan, you wouldn’t be interested in this countryside girl, would you?"

"No way, Chi Yan, your taste is quite unique! Ignoring the school beauty but showing interest in this rustic girl from the countryside!"

"Shut up, all of you!" The boy shouted, "I, Chi Yan, fancy whoever I fancy, what’s it to you?"

"Yes, yes, yes. Chi Yan, we’ll shut up then." The group of boys at the back of the classroom suddenly fell silent.
