"It’s ready. I’ll serve you the meal right now!" He Yue quickly turned around.

"I’m hungry too. Did you make enough breakfast? Give me a portion too!" An Hao, having just returned home from surgery, arrived just in time as He Yue finished making breakfast. The enticing aroma made her already empty stomach feel even hungrier.

"Auntie, you’re back? Quickly, sit down. I have your breakfast ready!" He Yue said as she served An Hao breakfast, placing it in front of her with both hands.

She had cooked fragrant millet porridge, fried eggs, warmed up a few buns, and sautéed some green leafy vegetables. The meal was simple, but the colors were well balanced, and it tasted quite good.

To make simple ingredients taste unexpectedly delicious, He Yueyue’s cooking skills were indeed outstanding.

An Hao, starving, immediately buried her head and started eating once He Yue served her: "So tasty! I didn’t expect someone your age to have such good cooking skills."

"I used to cook a lot at home," He Yue replied, a shadow passing her eyes as she thought of the home that had been reduced to ruins.

"Such a pity..." An Hao started to say, then quickly stopped herself, "I’m sorry, Yueyue."

She was afraid of bringing up He Yue’s painful memories again.

"Auntie, it’s okay. You don’t have to be so careful..." He Yue looked up at An Hao and said, "I’m not feeling great now, but I’ll try hard to get through this. My parents wanted me to live happily, and I can’t let them down."

"That’s good. I was just worried about you..." An Hao stopped halfway, her eyes lingering on the dark circles under He Yue’s eyes. After a moment, she softly asked, "Have you been having trouble sleeping? The first few days after losing someone are the hardest..."

Before she could finish, He Yue almost buried her head in her bowl. She felt embarrassed and ashamed.

Her dark circles weren’t entirely from missing her departed parents; last night was due to Ning Chenguang’s sudden intrusion.

Even though it was just for a moment, as she screamed and squatted down, she inadvertently saw everything about Ning Chenguang. His beautiful muscles, long legs, and the undeniable large contour that couldn’t be concealed by his shorts... his male features.

Last night, that scene tormented her, making it impossible to sleep.

She never imagined she would see a boy naked, and that boy was the one she had been missing day and night...

"Yueyue... Yueyue... are you okay?" An Hao looked at the sudden blush on He Yue’s face and called her name twice, "Are you alright? Do you have a fever?"

"No! No! I’m full, and I need to get ready for school." He Yue quickly put down her chopsticks and went upstairs to get her backpack.

"I’ll take her!" Ning Chenguang put down his chopsticks as well and followed He Yue out the door.

His mom’s eyes were sharper than X-rays; anything she wanted to find out could be analyzed thoroughly just by a serious glance.

He didn’t want his mother to know about last night’s events just yet.

Ning Chenguang rode his bicycle with He Yue to school. As they passed the intersection, a car drove by in the opposite direction.

A young woman dressed fashionably was sitting in the car. Holding a cigarette between her fingers, she saw Ning Chenguang flash by and her eyes widened suddenly. She quickly shouted, "Stop, turn around!"
