Surviving the Infinite Survival Game by Exploiting Glitches
Chapter 72 The cat is obedient! The tiger is obedient too!
That way, she could get the yard as soon as possible.
Speaking of which, there was one question.
How big would the yard be?
And wouldn’t expanding it require points?
[Yes, yes, Host. Expanding the yard requires points. But fortunately, when you receive the reward for completing the mission, the yard’s size will correspond to the size of your shelter. So, about the expansion...]
"..."
In the end, everything still came back to points.
"Can you include the basement when calculating the shelter’s size?"
[What? What are you saying? The wind is too strong. I can’t hear you.]
Lin Yun gritted her teeth.
This system was pretending to be stupid again!
How infuriating!
Wasn’t the basement also part of her shelter? Why couldn’t it be counted?
The reason was that the basement had been a reward from the Main System. The shelter itself hadn’t originally included a basement.
Of course, the system only dared to mutter this explanation to itself.
It didn’t dare say it in front of Lin Yun.
It was afraid of getting scolded.
"If I expand the shelter, can the yard be expanded at the same time?"
[...]
"No. The yard needs to be expanded separately.
Lin Yun closed her eyes.
She had really thought she could exploit another loophole.
"From now on, I’ll call you Rose. My shelter is a little too small to accommodate you right now, so stay in the directory space."
"I’ll bring you out regularly to water you."
"It’s fine. I don’t care where I sleep."
Rose truly didn’t care.
As long as she didn’t have to go outside and fight, she was perfectly content being a quiet, lazy rose.
Lying around doing nothing was wonderful.
Sleeping was wonderful.
Being able to lie down and fall asleep instantly was even better!
Lin Yun glanced at Rose again before putting her back into the Contract Directory.
As expected of the King of Slacking Off.
She really couldn’t be bothered to do anything.
After returning to the shelter, Lin Yun glared at Ghost Vine again, clearly still annoyed.
Ghost Vine chuckled when it saw that Lin Yun wasn’t actually angry.
It had only brought the mutated Rose along because it was angry that Rose had pulled its vines.
But it had regretted it afterward.
There was nowhere to put Rose in the shelter, after all.
Ghost Vine hadn’t dared tell Lin Yun about that either. It had been afraid she’d get angry.
It was still early.
After finishing up the things around the shelter, Lin Yun thought for a moment and decided to go outside and kill some zombies to earn more mission points.
This time, she didn’t bring her backpack.
She wasn’t planning to go far.
"The cat is coming too!"
Seeing that Lin Yun was about to leave again, Sang Biao immediately rushed over and grabbed her leg, as if he wouldn’t let her leave without him.
Lin Yun looked down and saw Tuan Tuan following behind Sang Biao.
The tiger was staring at her as well.
Clearly, it wanted to go out too.
"...Fine. But you two have to behave."
"The zombies outside aren’t something to play with. If one of them catches you, you’ll become a zombie cat and a zombie tiger."
"The cat will behave!"
Sang Biao immediately promised.
Tuan Tuan followed suit.
"Even tigers are obedient!"
"...Let’s go."
Sang Biao immediately released Lin Yun’s leg and followed her around like a puppy.
Since carrying two four-legged animals around would be too conspicuous, Lin Yun simply went behind the flower shop and found a staircase leading upstairs.
As for the elevator...
The power had long since stopped working, so there was no way to use it.
Lin Yun wasn’t sure whether there were zombies upstairs, so she could only proceed carefully, making as little noise as possible.
Fortunately, she didn’t have to worry about Sang Biao and Tuan Tuan.
Those feline paw pads weren’t useless.
When they reached the second floor, they found the emergency exit ahead slightly ajar.
They couldn’t see what was behind it.
Lin Yun instructed Sang Biao to keep watch near the stairs while she moved forward to investigate.
Instead of touching the doorknob directly, she used the wooden stick in her hand to reach through the gap and slowly push the security door open.
Fortunately, the door wasn’t old and didn’t make much noise.
Under Lin Yun’s careful movements, she opened it wide enough for herself to pass through.
She wasn’t sure whether there were any people inside the apartments, so she didn’t make a sound. Even her footsteps were extremely light.
Taking advantage of their small size, Sang Biao and Tuan Tuan moved ahead.
Whenever they reached a closed door, they would stop and carefully sniff the scent coming through the cracks.
There were many rooms on the second floor, and several doors were already open.
Lin Yun entered the room closest to the emergency exit.
It was a complete mess, with bloodstains scattered everywhere.
It wasn’t difficult to guess what had happened.
Someone in this family had probably turned into a zombie.
Lin Yun glanced through a half-open door and immediately turned her head away.
Inside was a corpse that had been almost completely eaten.
The blood underneath had long since dried, leaving behind a dark stain.
Lin Yun:
"..."
Her eyes were about to go blind.
That was quite the sight.
Lin Yun took a deep breath, walked over, and closed the door.
Then she began searching the apartment for anything useful.
Although she wasn’t lacking much at the moment, since she’d already come here, she might as well search thoroughly.
The vegetables, fruits, and meat had already rotted, so Lin Yun immediately discarded them.
Many things in the kitchen were dirty.
Only a few items remained clean, but she already had enough of those, so she didn’t bother taking them.
After looking around once more, she left the apartment.
Next door, everything had already been looted.
The neighbors probably hadn’t had time to take their belongings with them. There had likely been zombies nearby when they fled.
Suddenly, Sang Biao ran back.
"There’s movement in one of the rooms."
"Human or zombie?" Lin Yun asked.
Sang Biao thought about it.
"I don’t know. It smells terrible, and cats don’t like that smell."
"Let’s go take a look."
Lin Yun immediately followed him.
If nothing unexpected happened, Sang Biao had probably found a zombie.
Tuan Tuan was already waiting outside one of the doors.
When she saw Lin Yun approaching, she immediately ran over.
"There was no one in the other rooms. There’s movement in this one."
They had already explored the entire second floor and checked all the doors they could access.
"You two did a great job. You’ll get a reward when we get back."
Perhaps the zombies inside had heard the commotion outside.
Suddenly, something slammed against the door.
"Roar!"
The zombie lunged toward the door, snarling furiously.
It could hear the sounds outside, but the door prevented it from getting out.
It was clearly furious.
Lin Yun frowned.
She was worried that the zombie’s noise would attract the zombies upstairs.
She needed to finish this quickly.
The hallway gradually became quiet again.
The zombie waited for a while.
When it heard no more movement outside, it began wandering around the room again.
Lin Yun quietly took another step forward and reached for the doorknob.
She wasn’t sure whether the door could be opened.
But it was worth trying.
If it didn’t work, she could simply have Ghost Vine reach inside and break it open.
Slowly, Lin Yun pressed down on the doorknob.
There wasn’t even a sound.
The door opened.
