Surviving the Infinite Survival Game by Exploiting Glitches
Chapter 49 No matter how many arrows you have, it won’t help.
The tabby cat arrived at exactly the right moment.
Several large mutated snakes had just lunged toward Xiao Fei and his group.
The tabby cat’s vertical pupils narrowed.
With a swift swipe of its paw, it knocked away the mutated snake that was about to bite Li Ping’s neck.
"Ha!"
It tossed the snake aside and glared fiercely at the mutated snakes.
The snakes froze and took an unnatural step backward.
But they quickly charged forward again.
The tabby cat wasn’t going to let them off so easily.
It arched its back, its fur standing on end, and charged directly into the swarm of snakes.
It pounced left and right, its sharp claws constantly slashing.
Every attack left bloody marks across the mutated snakes’ bodies.
In an instant, snake blood splattered everywhere, and several smaller mutated snakes were knocked unconscious.
However, there were simply too many of them.
The tabby cat gradually began to struggle.
Just as a thick mutated snake seized the opportunity to coil around Xiao Fei, Lu Jingnian quickly raised his gun and fired.
Bang!
The bullet blasted open the mutated snake’s head, leaving a bloody hole.
Yet it wasn’t dead.
It merely loosened its grip.
At the same time, Li Ping and the others joined the battle, attacking the approaching mutated snakes.
The cat had already drawn most of the snakes’ attention, so they couldn’t simply stand by and watch.
Under the combined attacks of the soldiers and the tabby cat, the mutated snakes gradually became exhausted.
Their offensive weakened, and more and more of their companions were killed or injured.
Finally, realizing they couldn’t gain the upper hand, the remaining snakes twisted their bodies and attempted to flee.
But Lu Jingnian and his men had no intention of letting them escape.
Under their relentless attacks, all the mutated snakes that had pursued them were eventually brought down.
"Captain Lu, this is the one that delivered the letter earlier."
Xiao Fei hurried over to Lu Jingnian and whispered in his ear.
The tabby cat picked up the note that had fallen a little farther away, quickly stuffed it into Lu Jingnian’s arms, and immediately turned around and ran.
Vomit—
My mouth tastes horrible!
It’s so disgusting!
I feel like throwing up! Waaah!
"Captain Lu, are we just going to let it go?"
One of the soldiers hadn’t even reacted yet.
Lu Jingnian glared at him while looking at the note in his hand.
"What else can we do? Didn’t you see that it just helped us?"
"Threatening it after that would be going too far!"
"Our mission this time is..."
At that moment, Lu Jingnian’s expression suddenly changed.
He looked around and spotted the piece of cactus the tabby cat had knocked to the ground.
"Quick! Cut that piece of cactus into pieces and take them to the other teams. Have them apply it!"
"Huh? Oh!"
A soldier quickly picked up the cactus.
The moment he smelled it, a powerful stench nearly made him drop it.
But remembering his orders, he gritted his teeth, cut the cactus into several pieces, and quickly distributed them among his comrades.
Lu Jingnian wasn’t idle either.
He picked up the walkie-talkie and contacted the captains of the various squads, explaining the situation involving the plaster monkey.
He then sent soldiers who had been coated with the smelly cactus toward the other teams, instructing them to bring pieces of the cactus with them.
The plaster monkey, lying on the mutated tiger’s back, suddenly smelled another foul odor.
Hmm?
So much poop...
Why is there so much poop?
Could it be...
Is this what humans smell like after they die?
Oh.
Even dead humans smell the same.
Humans are really strange.
The plaster monkey climbed back onto the mutated tiger.
Meanwhile, Lin Yun remained hidden in the shadows.
She didn’t reveal herself.
There were simply too many mutated animals.
If she went out there, she’d basically be committing suicide.
Lin Yun stayed hidden in the tree, lying along the thick branch as she pulled out her crossbow.
It was loaded with mutated cactus thorns.
Once she found an opening, she would fire.
At first, her aim wasn’t very good.
But after firing several times, she gradually became more accurate.
Lin Yun fired another cactus thorn from the crossbow.
She immediately noticed that the impact seemed much stronger than the previous shot.
[That’s because you’ve gradually mastered the crossbow.]
[If your aim isn’t accurate, then no matter how many arrows you have, they’re useless.]
"Thank you so much."
Lin Yun crouched down on the tree again.
Another sharp thorn shot toward a mutated animal.
Just as Lin Yun was concentrating on her next shot, a huge mutated bear suddenly discovered her hiding place.
The mutated bear charged into the tree.
Boom!
The thick trunk shook violently.
Lin Yun almost fell.
Her heart tightened.
She quickly steadied herself, adjusted her position, and fired several cactus thorns in succession.
The thorns pierced the mutated bear’s eyes and nose.
The mutated bear roared in pain and fury.
Its vision was obstructed, causing its attacks to become chaotic.
At the same time, Lu Jingnian arrived with the soldiers who had been coated with the cactus.
They spotted the mutated bear inexplicably attacking a roadside tree.
Although they found it strange, they didn’t have time to think about it and quickly joined forces to deal with the bear.
The mutated bear was enormous.
None of them wanted to get too close.
They could only rely on long-range attacks.
The base had already announced that reinforcements were on their way.
If they could hold out, the base might be able to survive.
If not...
After the soldiers approached, Lin Yun stopped firing.
Seeing so many humans, the mutated bear immediately abandoned the person hiding in the tree and charged toward Lu Jingnian and his group.
The bear soon realized that it was being suppressed by overwhelming firepower.
Every time it tried to approach, it was blasted backward and forced to retreat.
It became increasingly furious.
Lin Yun remained on the tree for a while.
When she saw that the mutated bear was finally showing signs of exhaustion, she seized the opportunity.
She raised her crossbow.
This time, she loaded an Exploding Sunflower Seed.
Whoosh!
The seed flew through the air.
Boom!
The Exploding Sunflower Seed struck the mutated bear and detonated with tremendous force.
The enormous bear crashed heavily to the ground.
Everyone froze.
Where had that explosive come from?
But they had no time to think about it.
There were still countless mutated animals around them, and many of their comrades had already fallen.
After only a moment of hesitation, they raised their weapons again and continued fighting.
Just then—
Several shells flew overhead.
One landed near the mutated tiger.
Boom!
The explosion shook the surrounding area.
The mutated tiger had already dodged in time, so neither it nor the plaster monkey was injured.
Lu Jingnian turned his head.
It was the base!
Reinforcements had arrived!
The soldiers immediately became excited.
"Kill them!"
"Kill them all!"
The plaster monkey watched the humans receive reinforcements with an expressionless face.
For the first time, it felt somewhat disappointed.
Humans... really are remarkable.
What powerful weapons they possess.
If they were the ones controlling these weapons, the outcome would probably be completely different.
It seems today’s mission is going to fail.
We underestimated them.
We thought the weapons possessed by these humans were nothing special.
The plaster monkey patted the head of the mutated tiger beneath it.
It signaled for the tiger to return to the zoo.
It was time to retreat.
The mutated tiger turned around without hesitation.
At the same time, numerous mutated animals rushed toward it and formed a barrier between the humans and their leader.
