Surviving the Infinite Survival Game by Exploiting Glitches
Chapter 122 The Amusement Park at the Transfer Station
The next morning, Lin Yun prepared to go for a stroll with Song Xizheng.
The previous night, Chen Anna and Yao An’an had sent her messages saying that they were also in the outer ring area, in neighboring District 10. Song Xizheng explained that District 10 was right next to the building where they were staying, with only the city gate separating the two areas.
Lin Yun asked whether he was going to look for them.
Song Xizheng shook his head. He had originally planned to wait downstairs, but when he came down the stairs, he happened to meet Lin Yun.
Since Chen Anna and Yao An’an had not invited her, Lin Yun did not intend to go looking for them herself.
The two of them then walked toward the city gate. Lin Yun was curious about what the area outside the city looked like. Lin Yun had no destination in mind. She wanted to look around and understand what the transfer station was like beyond the places she knew. Since Song Xizheng was familiar with the outer ring, having him accompany her made the walk easier.
When they reached the gate and stepped outside, Lin Yun immediately noticed the difference.
There were many wooden tables and chairs placed around the area, and several men were sitting there, staring fiercely at the survivors entering and leaving the city. Their gazes followed the people carrying supplies and wearing clean clothes, making it obvious that they were paying particular attention to those who looked wealthy.
Song Xizheng glanced around and quietly said, "If there weren’t guards here, those people would probably rob every wealthy family they noticed."
Lin Yun looked at the people outside without saying anything.
The environment outside the city was much poorer than inside. Small shelters had been placed everywhere in a disorderly manner, with no clear arrangement between them. There were no proper obstructions, and garbage could be seen scattered all over the place. Nobody seemed interested in cleaning it.
The scene outside the gate showed her why the guards were necessary. The people sitting there did not hide their interest in the survivors passing through. Their sharp looks were uncomfortable, even without anyone approaching them. Lin Yun silently noted that it was better not to attract attention.
There were guards stationed both inside and outside the city gate. Each of them carried weapons, making it clear that the area was not completely lawless.
Two people were responsible for collecting points from survivors who wanted to enter the city.
Song Xizheng urged Lin Yun to keep moving.
"The people outside have points and good things too," he explained. "That’s why they’re willing to take the risk of going outside. But I don’t dare to. I’m afraid I’ll be eaten alive."
Lin Yun looked at him.
Song Xizheng continued seriously, "Unless you really have to go outside, don’t go. If you have no choice, take several people with you. And when you pass through the city gate, don’t make eye contact with anyone. Some people might target you just because they think you’re an easy target."
Lin Yun quietly remembered his advice.
After leaving the city gate, Song Xizheng took Lin Yun around several important places in the outer ring area.
The market looked much better than it had the last time Lin Yun visited. There were more things being sold, and the prices were also a little cheaper.
The market was different from what she remembered. It was far from luxurious, but compared with her previous visit, the changes were noticeable. The lower prices were useful for survivors.
After walking around for a while, Song Xizheng suddenly took her somewhere else.
Lin Yun stopped in surprise when she saw the place in front of her.
"An amusement park?"
She had never expected to see an amusement park in a transfer station.
Song Xizheng looked at it and said, "I had the same reaction when I first saw it."
There were actually people inside.
Some were walking around, while others were playing on the rides. The scene looked strangely ordinary compared with the dangerous world outside.
When Song Xizheng brought her to the amusement park, Lin Yun was surprised. Everything about the place seemed unusual for a transfer station, yet the people inside behaved as though visiting an amusement park were perfectly ordinary.
Song Xizheng explained, "This amusement park is one of the cheapest places in the main city. A lot of people come here to relax."
"How much does it cost?"
"Ten points."
Lin Yun looked at him.
"Ten points is enough to play all day. You can even leave and come back again on the same day."
The ten-point entrance fee was reasonable. Being able to stay all day and return after leaving made it convenient.
Song Xizheng had been here before. He said that the amusement park was quite fun, and the food sold inside cost the same as it did at the points mall.
Lin Yun was just about to refuse when a familiar voice suddenly came from behind her.
"Sister Lin!"
Lin Yun turned around.
Chen Anna and Yao An’an were walking toward them.
Chen Anna looked at Song Xizheng, then at Lin Yun. "Is he your friend?"
"Yes," Lin Yun replied. "We came here to play."
Chen Anna nodded. "I didn’t have time to explore much last time. I have more time now, so I wanted to look around properly."
Yao An’an looked at Lin Yun and Song Xizheng before saying, "Sister Lin, come with us. You and this handsome young man can join us. I heard from an NPC that this amusement park is very fun."
Before Lin Yun could answer, Chen Anna grabbed her arm.
"Come on. An’an and I will treat you."
Lin Yun looked at her.
"???"
Chen Anna immediately explained, "It’s fine. We’re treating you."
Lin Yun was still processing that when Chen Anna continued, "Besides, the amusement park doesn’t close at night. There are designated areas where people can rest, and it’s safe. You don’t necessarily have to return to your shelter at night."
Song Xizheng suddenly became interested.
He had been stuck inside the shelter the last time he came to the transfer station, so hearing that they could stay here at night made him want to try the amusement park even more.
Lin Yun thought for a moment and agreed.
"But I’ll pay for myself."
Chen Anna and Yao An’an accepted that without arguing. They both knew that Lin Yun did not like taking advantage of other people, so they did not insist.
Once they entered the amusement park, Song Xizheng naturally took the lead.
Lin Yun listened carefully as Song Xizheng described the rides. She was interested in the ordinary attractions, but the information about the haunted house and roller coaster made her realize that even entertainment here had its rules.
Yao An’an suddenly stopped when she saw a haunted house.
"A haunted house?"
She looked surprised.
Song Xizheng glanced at it. "I’ve never gone inside. I heard it’s quite scary. If you’re easily frightened, I don’t recommend going in."
Lin Yun, however, was more interested in the other rides.
She did not pay much attention to the haunted house.
Chen Anna looked at it for a moment before shaking her head. "Forget it. The ghosts inside are probably NPCs pretending to be ghosts. Their way of thinking is different from ours. That might make them even more terrifying."
Song Xizheng nodded. "The NPCs are very good at playing ghosts. And I heard the scenes inside the haunted house are different every day."
Lin Yun turned to him. "They can change?"
"Yes. That’s what I heard. I don’t know the details, though."
As they continued walking, Song Xizheng pointed toward another ride.
"That’s the roller coaster."
Lin Yun looked over.
"I heard its route changes every day too," Song Xizheng said. "Nobody knows how the amusement park sets it up."
He suddenly remembered something he had heard from someone else.
"Someone once got on the roller coaster around midnight. Halfway through the ride, at exactly midnight, the route suddenly changed. What had been a gentle path became a high-altitude descent. That person was almost scared to death."
Yao An’an and Chen Anna exchanged a look.
After hearing that, the two of them only dared to try a few of the regular rides. They did not dare to try the more frightening attractions.
Seeing their expressions, Song Xizheng quickly reassured them.
"The rides change every day, but there’s no safety problem. They’re just scary."
Still, knowing that the rides were frightening rather than unsafe eased her concerns. She continued looking around, curious about the amusement park.
Lin Yun looked around the amusement park again.
She was genuinely impressed by its manager.
She had originally thought that an amusement park inside a transfer station could not possibly be this honest and safe. She had not expected that the things people said about it would actually be true.
