Third Person’s POV

Dawn, the next morning

Penelope walked out of her room and towards the breakfast table. The whole group was in a rush to eat their breakfast and head towards their new apartments. It was crucial that they arrived before the start of the heavy rains.

"Good Morning" Penelope said as she sat down. "How is everyone feeling today?" She asked as she reached for a slice of toast.

She was hoping to hear good news about them awakening their superpowers.

She knew she had woken up her superpowers but she wasn’t sure what to think of it. Oddy told her her superpower was somewhat like a copycat power. It’s specific name was ability replication, she could copy other’s ability but not their skills. She thought her superpower was pretty interesting but she was also aware that others would consider her a threat if they knew. Depending on what Erik and Kai had awaken, she would consider claiming a space superpower.

"Omg Penny, guess what I can do?!" Kai said excited.

"What?" Penelope asked curiously.

Kai extended his left hand forward and slightly bent his fingers upwards. Soon, a fireball erupted from his hands. He had a huge grin while looking at others, waiting for praises to erupt.

"Ha, that’s cool bro. But look at this!" Ben said. He extended his hand as well and soon tiny balls of earth were rotating on his palm.

"Wow. Kai, you’ve awakened a fire element. Ben, you’ve awakened an earth element." Penelope said, she was full of laughter. She could already see Kai warming up their apartment during the extreme cold.

"Eldest brother, did you awaken too?" She asked. She was not too sure if he’d have the same superpowers. In the original novel, Erik had awakened lightning.

Erik touched his nose and sighed. Penelope was about to console him when he said "Well, it seems that I’ve awakened two superpowers. Lightning and Ice."

Everyone looked at him in surprised.

’No way, is the male lead’s halo that strong?’ Penelope thought to herself.

"Two superpowers?" Killian asked. He was surprised that he’d awakened two in one night. Usually dual-element awakeners awakened one superpower first.

"Yes, ice and lightning" Erik confirmed. He extended his hand out and frost and lightning started forming on his palm. After a few seconds, he closed his fist to stop it from losing control. He coughed and said "Well, I still need to learn how to control my powers" He looked embarrassed.

Kai was looking at his brother in horror. ’Just what kind of monster is this?’ he asked himself.

"Dear, I don’t believe I’ve awakened a power." Aunt Mary said. She seemed a little upset.

"It’s okay mom, you’ll be kept safe with us around" Kai said.

"Killian...did you awakened last night?" Erik asked.

Killian looked up and found everyone looking at him. Waiting for his answer.

"I awakened a control ability" he said. He was going to leave it at that but when he glanced around, he locked onto Penelope’s eyes. Those eyes that seemed to know too much but not enough. He was confused about his own mindset. He felt an odd need to show off his abilities to her. It took everything in him to restrain himself from explaining his abilities.

"What do you mean by a control type ability?" Erik asked.

"Well...it’s exactly as it sounds like." Killian said as he took a sip of his black coffee. He kept it short. As much as he wanted to be honest with Penelope, that didn’t apply to the rest.

"Umm... I awakened a space...and...I’m not really sure what the other one is" Penelope said. Trying to diffuse the silent war going on between the two men.

"It seem that I did not awaken anything either" Aunt Lucy said dejectedly.

Ben couldn’t help but laugh. He stood up and walked towards his mother. He leaned down and gave her a strong hug. "Mom, don’t worry. I’ll be just like dad and keep you safe." He kissed her temple and went back to sit down.

"Oh goodness!!!!" Aunt Mary squealed. She turned to smack Erik on his shoulder. "Why can’t you learn from your brother and Ben! You didn’t say a word to me" She said playfully.

Killian couldn’t help but envy the warmth of this family. They were so honest and loving towards each other. He looked around and rested his eyes on Penelope’s smile. He looked away and couldn’t help but think ’I should tell her not to smile like that outside’.

Erik caught the way Killian’s gaze always seem to fall on Penelope. He narrowed his eyes and asked "Penelope, how big is your space?"

He knew that eventually, Penelope would form a contract with Killian. However, until then, he wanted to give her an excuse for when they went on supply hunts.

"Umm...about 210 meters long...and 136 meters wide." She answered weakly. She was just throwing out random numbers. She was hoping she didn’t give a small number.

Even Killian was shocked. This family was a little too lucky, weren’t they?

"Penny, do you think you could store this house in the space?" Erik asked. They had agreed to use this excuse in front of Killian.

"We could try. Let’s just disconnect any electrical wires to prevent accidents" Penelope answered.

"Penny, can you include the car garage as well?" Kai asked.

"We can try" she answered.

After everyone was ready to leave, they stepped outside their home. Penelope put her hands on their home. She pretended to be struggling and once she felt that it was convincing enough, she placed the home into her space.

She walked towards the parking garage and pretended to struggle a little longer before storing it in her space as well.

They walked towards two vehicles. One was Killian’s black SUV and the other was Erik’s SUV.

"Who’s riding with who?" Penelope asked. She was hoping to ride with Erik so they could go to her home and Ben’s and store it in her space. However, if she didn’t have that opportunity, she didn’t mind granting Erik access so he could store the homes as well.

After a few seconds of contemplating, Aunt Mary decided to divide the team in two groups.

"Erik, Aunt Lucy, Ben and I will ride with you. Penelope and Kai will ride with Killian." She said as she winked towards Penelope.

"Mom, what’s wrong with your right eye? Why do you keep winking?" Kai asked bewildered.

Killian just smiled and said to Penelope and Kai, "Let’s go." He found Aunt Mary very likeable.
